When fighting ranged Player/Npc MOST of the time they do not returning their correct positions. I knotice that once they move their position gets corrected but if they are just attacking/stuned/standing they remain missplaced.
Another big problem I'm having with this is when a moving target gets stunned. They continue sliding towards their destination while stunned! Causing them to be untouchable by melee attacks.
There are also cases where in pvp, an archer gets misplaced and becomes immune to any melee attacks. Unlike the Npc where they would correct their positions after a while caused by attempts to move, the Player does not make such attempts and remains misplaced.
I'm not sure how the position data are transfered but if it's updated while a target is attacking as well as moving, that might do the trick. Then again what would I know...
