Did you realize what you were getting into?

Hi all...

There have been many threads discussing thoughts on a server/character wipe and the possibilities thereof, and it's quite clear that opinions on the matter range from one end of the spectrum to the other and cover everything in between.

What's unclear to me, however, is if you realized what you were getting into/agreeing to by participating in a closed beta test and, if not, would you have put the same amount of leveling effort into the game if you had realized that the possibility of a wipe existed.

Sooo...did you realize what you were getting into prior to diving into the game? Would you have done things differently if you had?

Whenever i play closed betas i play the **** out of it.....then i get really mad when i get wiped...-.-

This is my first beta test game and I gotta say that I am having fun playing and leveling. I will be upset when the wipe happens because of how hard I have been playing but the game is great and that just means I get to try it over again. When I first heard of the wipe I was like "*** they got to be kidding me" but so what. Just play hard and you will be able to get to a high level.

I already knew there was a possibility of a character wipe...at first, I was against it...but now, I don't think it matters to me anymore because I can just level up my characters again (plus if I still had my characters, it would get rather boring once I get them to their 2nd class)....

Well, I've played beta before and have rarely had a character wipe before/after it went to open status. Usually my character stays as-is. Has anyone gotten an actual say-so from Outspark on this issue?

GM_Rider posted on this issue before (not sure which thread it was) and he said that the character wipe is not confirmed yet....so I guess they're still deciding...

Who'd honestly level knowing that their characters would be wiped? Very little people. The wipe is going to happen, it's pretty obvious - 99.9% of closed BETA's wipe. If somebody had said to me "Your not invited in CB" and then there was no wipe, I'd find it pointless playing.

Example, Luminary opened for OB and there will be no wipe for Final release but theres a bug where 50% of the users get a disconnect error and havnt been able to access the game. This meant loads of people leveled way ahead of others and are to massive advantage. I quit the game, as did many others that cant get in and the forums were filled with quitting threads and the game is nowhere near as popular as it should be.

This will happen to SoS if they don't wipe, it's stupid to say it wont.

Honestly, the wipe is best for all of us, most of you need to see that.

Yes, Open BETA, 99% of CB games wipe and i'll be faniscinated if somebody can name a big title that didn't wipe in CB.

Eudemons Online, by TQ games, didn't wipe when it went to open beta. Mostly because players had built their characters up and didnt want to lose them. Real $ was involved too, which may cause a difference between them adn SoS.

I know that there is most likely gonna be a wipe, but its a chance for me to explore the game and get used to the different systems it has.

So what if I lose the time i spent playing, its a chance to meet others and play with them in the near future.

Don't just look at this negatively - i mean i wouldn't want a wipe BUT people who have only just had a chance to play after CB will not be in a fair position [in terms of lvl].

sasuke8, that's a perfect way of looking at it. In truth, if there were a wipe, I would hope my close friends would use the same character name(s) so we can continue our parties together. ^_^ v

good example, but this is Free game. SOS does have an Item Shop for players spend their Real Money. Unfortunately, it isnt open yet.
