Alright, I have about 15 Quartz in my inventory and I never seem to sell them at the Flea Market.
I got them mining from Imperial Ores for the record, and I simply can't find a use for it.

Does anyone know what it's for?

Well, back to topic, yeah, I think your quartz might be worth as much as all those free rubies they gave out. I got them, but they have absolutely no use to me at all.
