Behind the name...

I've always wondered if it was just me, or do other people add certain significance to their character's name other than "it sounds cool". Like, I know for a fact "Mirei" has a story behind it that will more than likely never leave me. XD

Call me dorky, but hey- your name represents you- why have it go with a simple fad, or just copying your favorite character's name so you can "be them"...

Mine has a story. I was sitting in English class and had to write an epic poem or some crap like that, and I was thinking of names. Someone said Carolina, and then I was thought of making it a eena sound instead of lina. So Caroleena !

First off I used this name before I knew of Kingdom Hearts and before it came out.
My intentions of the name was to be original. (Even though later I found out it really isn't that much anymore... XD)
Ever since then people has been nick naming after the character from Kingdom hearts.

Anyhow at the time I really didn't know what the name mean. (Even though its pretty much made up.)
The meaning happens to be "Electronic Beaver" as a Japanese person had translated it...

Some time later I found out that there are people online stealing my name after about 3 to 4 years of me using it.
(The latest person who stole it appears to be an actual Japanese person even though the word isn't really Japanese.)

Anyhow ever since I first thought of the name I used it to resent me everywhere.

Hmmm....it's Kinda odd. I started playing a game called ArchMage in 1998. GeldrinHor was my first character (online text based, turn based game). Then he got carried over into other games. I have (or have had) a GeldrinHor EverCrack, and EQ2 (surname of GodsHammer) as well as Diablo2:XPac, and many other online games. My OTHER game nick is Edain (or Edain Thunderer), based on Tolkien's world of Middle Earth, Edain being the high race of Man.

I was actually playing one of the sims games for the gamecube, and I needed a first and last name for a female character.

At the time (and kinda still now), I was almost upsessed with crystal orbs.

So, I used Crystal for the first name, and Orbie for the last name.

Ever since, I use Crystal Orbie (or some form of it) as my user name.

Oh, and my In Game Name is Orbie, on Bijou server.

Coolios! I noticed i never said mine! XDD

Mirei was one of those names where, someone started calling me an anime character cause i kept acting extremely hyper like her (Mirellie from .hack//DUSK) and it just kind of stuck. however, when I typed it in on Runescape, the name was sooo typoed it wasn't funny. But, it was one of my best character files and it kind of stuck. Everyone in that server either heard of me or was eventually my friend, so... yeah... i responded too well...

Eventually, when i started learning japanese, i found some kanji to go with it that connected to a very important part of my life which stuck out (rather not tell).

My original name, Arem, was NOT based on Defence of the Ancients game for Warcraft III. I had that name much longer than their acronym for their game mode. (All Random Easy Mode, for those that do not know). Arem was a magician character I made up for story-writing purposes.

I can't even use Arem anymore because of Defence of the Ancients. I couldn't register the name on Apoline, so I used the last name of the character: Mallinock.

As for how I actually came up with Arem Mallinock. Arem is the sound of R-M spelled out. Why R-M? Dunno. Mallinock was spur of the moment. It fit nicely at the end, so yeah.

Xia Orlos: Character of my game im working on. Supposed to be a Holy sage who can use her magic to heal companions and destroy her opponments.
She is the oldest of the 4 sisters in the Orlos family.
Zenia Orlos: 2nd of the family and a known Archer that never lost a match.
Lamia Orlos: 3th of the family and known for her swordfighting skills.
Luna Orlos: 4th and youngest of the family and learning the ways of elemental magic.

Background of the Orlos family:

The family was founded near 1285 AC during the time of Demonic wars. Known for there powerfull magic and skillfull swordplay the family has trained there offspring with excelent results. There family was never beaten by other houses and where known as Demonic Family. Because of this they got hunted down by other family's and expelled from the land of Arion.

a name i like to use often is Fenrir but it's taken like all the time sadly
i use the name not just because i like the norsh mythology but because i am writing a story and the main character's name is Fenrir, when i make a character named Fenrir i always make him a warrior since that is what he is in the story, well he's actually mercenary/dark knight/oblivion knight/oblivion lord, but he stays a warrior though just more powerful, i also use two handed swords if they are aviliable since that is his weapon of choice.
other names i like to use are,
Eden, main female in the story i am writing, a princess that has a secret that is well guarded by the royal family.
Fririel, a name a came up with out of the blue and what i use for my female healer types
Blissy, my dad made a character for my mom in a game called MU and it was named Blissy, later my mom made a warrior in World of Warcraft named Blissy, and since then i have adopted the name which i use for female warrior or archers
Mystck, a name i came up with when i was making my mage that eventually became my main in fly for fun,the name is pronounced Mystic and a name i use for female mage types
i don't really have a certain name for males, i usually incorporate Blood in the name
Blood Raven is a name i like to use for male archers
Magnus Runeblade is a name i like to use for male warrior types
Lobius is a name i don't use that often but when i use it i usually make him a warrior that can wield spears, once again it's a name from the story i am writing, Lobius is one of a nearly extinct race that was nearly wiped out in the great war between the worlds of light and dark and since then have been secluded from the outside world for fear of the remnants of the war get wiped out and leaving one of the secluded tribes is a great sin to these people. the appearance of this race, the Serains, are that of wolves and have great speed and agility and most prefer spears over any thing else.

Aquilachan is from a long time ago...my Last name means "eagle", and I translated that into Latin...therefore, "Aquila"
Eudevie I got when I signed up for the trial for Yu-gi-oh! online.(Hush, the card game is fun, the anime sucks.) and I mistyped "Eau De Vie", "Water of life" In French.
I kept it since, because I doubt people would use French as much, and typo it at the same time. XD

The name of my cleric, Sabbathe, is the name of WoW character who happens to be a druid. Both are healers. Both run around healing and curing people. Both can keep up a whole raid (wow sabb can heal 10 or more people while fiesta sabb healed 9 people all by her little self in a mara kq).

nikolace- this was a complex name that i used for...wow 11 years...lol im old!
many of those who read this will not remember 'MuscleMen'...little plastic wrestlers with no moving parts. my favorite two were red ones and one had a Space Helmet on and the word NIKU on his back.
I extrapolated the name Nikolace Uther from NIKU to use in a shortstory which came from my favorite dream. Uther from King Arthur's dad and Nikolace because i liked the androgeny of adding the feminine 'lace' to the masculine Nick.

Sadly, as i have said, I retired that name when I got the internet this time...I couldn't remember any of my passwords because i hadn't been online for two years lol

in any mmo i play my name is very important to me, and ive used the same ones over and over although sometimes the names are taken.

Kismet- put simply means fate, or destiny -although the origin of the word is arabic and its spelled differently but the general meaning is the same.

Tiamat- no not the god from dragonlance or w/e its called.
It means 'Sea' in the Akkadian language, and in myth Tiamat was the very essence of the sea, and appeared in a dragon form. She got it on with a god called Apsu and made all the original gods, and one of those (her son or something) killed her, cut her in half, and with those peices -made the sky and earth.

i always try to get Tiamat for a name and often dont :(
my life is near the sea, i love the ocean, and it will always be special to me (lol even though it may very well kill me one day ><)

Well, back in 1995 when I first started playing D&D I made an elven Wizard and chose Heian as his firstname and as a family Nailo becasue it means nightbreeze (in that version of elven). So, I've used that for most online RPGs and still have my original character sheet that I rarely get to use anymore... As far as my ID goes, I plan on naming my first son Alexander Cornelius Dracakovich Conrad. Not only cause I think it sounds cool and is still distinguishing, but because it would make his initials ACDC... which is just plain awesome... So yeah, I made it up I think.
