View Full Version : Sheild Block Rate Abysmal

Our shield block rate is abysmal and in need of attention:

The shield block rate in this game is ABYSMAL. Even with the toughness skill active you see very few blocks. I have even buffed up the duration of toughness to parse it over a longer time and it seams to make no difference (cetainly not 14%)

Additionaly this is seen with a warriour with 98+32 end.

Presuming I have no block rate from the 98end

32 end give me 3.2% block
Shield gives me 4% block
Toughness should give 14% block

This should be 21.2% block or 1/5 hits blocked... which is certainly not the case.
This all presumes base endurance doesn't give block rate.

So the above probably points out the game is figuring block rate in a strange way... such that skills like toughness and other block bonus are pretty much worthless. Just an FYI and hopefully someone will take a look at it and make some kind of fix.

Please note that Blocking an attack is more useful than dealing a critical hit on an attack. Block reduces all damage to 0, no matter how much it would have dealt. Having super-high block enough to block 50% of all incoming attacks would be far more powerful than having a 50% crit rate. Low block rates of even one in ten hits being blocked would still be extraordinary.

As to your shield not blocking 20% of hits over time with a 20% block rate, if you are sure that it isn't just your luck, then either this is a bug, your toughness skill works an odd way that you aren't expecting it to, or certain monsters are harder to block than others.

With 30 Endurance and approximately 10% block total, I notice a goodly number of blocks. At least one or two per battle. I rather doubt it to be a full 10% of all hits I receive, so I assume it to be either reduced due to the monsters I am fighting, or I'm simply not appreciating my blocks as I should.

Nt sure about this, but remeber that blocking is against your opponent's Aim. It may be a cerrtain pertentage, but your enemy may have better aim than what that is gauged off of. If you think about it similar to THAC0, you may only need to roll a 10 to hit, but the target facters into the quation.
Hope this was helpful. Again this is a guess and observation, not hard fact, feel free to orrect if you know better.

try to test it againt lower lvl mobs, just like evade, it doesnt really shows fighting high lvl mobs, but when u go to slimes or something, u can mostly evade their atk :P

The big issue I have with block rate is simply the cost of the skill involved. It is very expensive and probably not worthy of an empower for the simple reason that it doesn't produce results. Might change on the high end but I doubt it will be by all that much.
