This, more or less, is why most places have a manual patch as well.
You're not alone in this, don't worry.

I can't download the patch either. After it says "searching for updates" it says in the same space "downloading patch..." ... my boyfriend tells me its supposed to open another window, but it doesn't. And the patch never downloads. I wish there was a manual download for the patch :( because I can't play SoS anymore.

this happened to me before when the server disconnected me....I pretty much had to keep closing and reopening it to get it to work again...
