Made a new post after some tests.

Ok, the text on Gaurd and evade is this: Block weak attacks 100%, can not block power attacks(warriors can defend themselves for as much as thier shield's defence)

Ok, so reading that I should be able to block a power attack that would hit me for 65 damage of my shield is +67 defence. Thought it doesn't and only lowers the damage down to about 55-58 damage.

Is this a bug or is this ment to happen? The text reads something different from what is really going on.

Oh yeah a power attack is any skills or the "D" key attack.

In this game, 1 Def point does not equal 1 damage point.

What raygeku says is 100% correct. I'll see if I can get some folks together and do some testing to see what the real conversion rate is in a day or two, and post the results here, though, if you like. Shouldn't be too hard seeing as I can side-by-side shields of different levels.

My initial thought is it's a % based thing seeing as the damage is in a range, and what's blocked seems a bit jumpy at times. It could also be normalized for STD style matches too, so I'll definately do some work on ULMT to verify it being a set value for the match type or not, too.

I have done some tests and these tests are just vs monsters. The monster is Sunny crabs and I used 3 different type of shields to block thier hard attack. The level 55 shield, the 60 shield, and then the 65 shield.

Level 00 shield - 000 defence - Total damage after block = 84
Level 55 shield - 152 Defence - Total damage after block = 75
Level 60 shield - 178 Defence - Total damage after block = 74
Level 65 shield - 204 Defence - Total damage after block = 73

Ok, with these tests, it seems that it gives +1 damage point after each shiled upgrade.

That also makes shields TOTALLY USELESS! The whole point of a warrior being able to use a shield is to be able to block hard damage attacks. Why waste money to even buy one? Oh wait they have a use for one thing. The shield is now only usefull to use Elementrium on.
