View Full Version : Lag - is it for everyone?

When I first started playing I was lag-free. Now I encounter consistent lag which is bothersome at times and deadly at others (when hunting). It is especially irritating when carrying that [expletive deleted] heavy love letter across town.

Server-wide, I wonder what the average is of people experiencing lag is. I have more than the minimum system requirements to run this game (nearly over double) but still lag.

Please reply to the poll accordingly and feel free to add a comment as well.

Peace ^_^ v

i only lag when doing events. the rest of the time it is fine. occationaly it starts to lag while in town, but as long as i'm not in a party or shopping around, i just shift-z it to prevent lag.

it helps if you remove the visible speach above people (forget what the option is called) and i often turn down my sound fx while in events, this can be a big help as well (make sure you turn them down/off in the options menu, don't just turn your speakers off :P )

I'll have to try the shift-z feature... that may help. Unfortunately I experience quite a bit of lag when in the wilds hunting, too, although there isn't that much action going on around me.

Thanks for the tip!

It seems many are having the lag-ijn-battle issue. I won't feel so bad then. Perhaps when more servers are opened up the lag will diminish...

I find these things work for me:
1. Run in Full Screen mode (Alt + Enter) with as few background programs running as possible
2. Zoom in as close to your character as you can (If there's less going on, on your screen it sometimes helps lower your lag)
3. Lower your display settings (Theres an option in Alt + D to lower Texture Resolution of the background)
4. Turn effects off (If you computer can't handle skill spamming then turn off the effects... It's a bit extreme but helps immensely in massive PvP events to diminish lag)

You don't need to do them all but they work for me at different times :) I hope this helps someone.

I get lag all the time but i deal with it like others threw options like turning effects off(Kind of weird playing off >_>) and also keeping texture down. For some odd reason i only get lag around the rider but that was old times some how he figured out how to jam my lag, lol:D

It was pretty cool and lagged helped my once finding the rider and also tells me if he is in town. Most of the other time i get it durning events with alot of people and fighting or when i try to do other things while playing(My own fault). Its ture lag can kill if you don't think so just wait and see.

When you see your health bar full then gone something is up. Also when you and your friends fighting and it lags out(Freezes) and then in one sec bunch of sounds and hit points against the monster(killing it in one move) then thats something odd too.

The differeance in lag:
1. You glitcy or jump ahead some times =Weak lag=
2.Slow moves or skip sounds or graphics =Weak lag=
3. When you feeze and get stuck for ashort time =Strong lag=
4. When you can't even move forward and every thing is so slow =Strong lag=
5. When you freeze and have to shut down or it shuts down for you =Very strong lag=

Ps. So all i can say is deal with it my lag brothers and sisters! I still say its all the gm's fault they make the lag "Down with the lag makers!!" Only way to stop lag or help is to miss with options or settings. Buying or having a very good computer also can help alot, lol

Ok - I went through and made sure my firewall was accepting all sites related to OutSpark or SoS, then have been clearing my cache and closing EVERYTHING else (I usually only leave email running in the BG) - so far the lag has subsided. Perhaps it's just a matter of timing and what I've done really had no inpact, or perhaps it genuinely did help - time will tell.

But I thought I'd share with y'all.

If i may ask, What is this Lag you speak of??? where do you live? becasue, i have never had any lag from this game whatsoever. People say im lucky XD.

Lag is Like a Contagous Disease, and should be treated so. When someone has it. They must be Banned, Ignored, and Forgotten. luckily My Banlist is Large, and i have yet to catch it. XD

Well, there are various reasons that could be causing your lag. It could be not enough RAM, or not that great of a video card, or it also could be when the server is bumbarded by way too many users at once, or if your in a town and there are way too many people. Everything your move, it downloads something, to make it happen. The faster it downloads, the less lag you have. The best way to ensure that you don't recieve lag because of your computer specs, is to have a great video card like nVIDIA GeForce, or any other popular high quality video card. Also you could always make sure you have more than enough free space on your hardrive for the game and the files it may download. Buy enough RAM, say maybe 1GB to 2GB of RAM is good, and make sure you keep everything on your computer in a folder, never let it lay around. Because if its in a folder, it will find files faster, without lagging you. There are other things you can look up on the net about this by searching Google.com. I suggest that search site, because you'll most likely get the best results.

Good Luck.

I lag once in a blue moon or when I get the rare game decided to close on its own accord for no such reason. Other then that I run the same fps when I'm out by myself soloing or in spawn city event. clean and crisp any other way and i'd prolly just scrap my comp for not being able to handle a 2d game graphics. On another note I have graphics set at max for best quality of game play but sound turned off. (I have always listened to reg music vs the repetitive in game sound/music.) Maybe that has something to do it with it?

would like to make one last statement about this. Game runs on Open GL settings. my last video card that I used when playing wow/FF i had a higher lvl of lag then when i switched to this video card that supports Open GL and have noticed a hella lot difference in both wow/ff. Then again Could be just cuz its a better video card overall :P

Not at all for me.
It may depends on quality of internet connection, especially of transfer delay.

I didnt have any problems. If you start having lag problems, lower you video resolution a tad. Even on spawn cities I didnt have an issue (fun fun fun by the way.)
