Almost. . . . The thought kept racing through his mind. He let out a long breath. Thinking about his lifetime of adventure.

Thinking back to his young days of being a squire. Things seemed so easy back then. As his skills progressed the world opened up to him. All of a sudden he found himself in Essene. Only the bravest of the brave, strongest of the strong, wisest of the wise could get to Essene. Then he found himself in Candyvault. Only the bravest of the brave. . . . . . .. It was only the beginning.

He thought longingly of the ones who mattered most to him in this world. Alexandra who had gotten him out of several scrapes came foremost to his mind. Where was she? How come he could not find her anywhere? Didn't she remember they were getting married soon.

And what of this Lady Koko that had all of a sudden appeared from nowhere. A few weeks ago she had been a acolyte who was hardly around. Now she was a cleric and going full steam towards Priestess. Never before had he seen someone advance so quickly.

The black cat he kept was one of the sweetest creatures he knew. He wasn't sure about it but he thought the cat had magical healing abilities. He remembered coming home all scraped up and badly bruised and by being around that cat his scrapes and aches magically disappeared.

Divessa was constantly training with PMatt. She had just become a warrior. Known all across the land for her fantastic dives into any pond or lake. PMatt hated to think of it. Getting into the water for fun. Getting into any water sent chills down his spine.

Duchess Annabelle was a person whose generosity was well known. People usually called her Shorty. She was the person footing the bill for PMatts and Alexandras wedding. But she had set a very steep price on this wedding. It hung over PMatts head day and night. Every moment brought him closer to the dreaded moment.

His guild leader a wisened old man named Ryogachan was always right. He had warned PMatt about that crazy wild swinging action would make him a addict. PMatt laughed at the thought. I'm a knight now. Knights don't become addicted to that blue liquid. That blue liquid was the thing everyone else was addicted to. How many vials a day did he drink. Hundreds, no far too few. He drank that vial blue liquid by the thousands each and every day. This addiction was driving him crazy. Ryo also told him the secret to being the best fighter you can be. Ryo said, "In order to truly succeed at fighting u have to be as dumb as cow crap and twice as foul smelling.

PMatt took a big whiff of himself. Wow! He was easily three times as stinky as cow crud. He knew great things were in the future. But that one thing remained. He must do it and soon.

Funny things were happening in the library. He noticed it when he fought a spirit there. When he got the final blow in he noticed the spirit winked at him and then faded into nothingness. PMatt was so surprised when the same spirit winked at him a few days later. How could this be. He had killed the blasted thing a few days ago.

He noticed the same thing happening all over Xen. Creatures with very unique markings showing up again and again. He killed them so many times. Yet they still reappeared a few minutes later. His head ached just from thinking about it.

Somewhere in the distance the clock struck 12 midnight. The day of reckoning had come. PMatt felt a tear fall down his cheek. He knew he could never look his equals square in the eyes ever again. Even the lowliest of squires would sneer at him. He was a doomed man.

Finally the break of dawn came. Then the morning disappeared and the moment he had dreaded was mere moments away. Three burly men came for him to escort him to his doom.

The moment had finally arrived. PMatt started sobbing uncontrollably. He would rather face one thousand deaths, each death so much more gruesome than the last one.

When he got there a whole crowd awaited him. He could see people high fiving one another. The crowd hung in anticipation. He was going to do it. Half of the crowd passed out when PMatt walked by. He was used to that. They would recover when he passed them. Right now the dreaded event was a mere block away.

They dragged him kicking and screaming down that block. The time was now. PMatt got in and took his bath.

The End
