Chapter 1: My Departure and a parting of ways

Salutations I am called Ritz the pheonix. I am writing this journel of my adventures in isya for future generations to know my adventures. I was born on a small island off the mainland. My family owned a farm. I was contstantly being punished for using hoes like swords. I had wanted to become an adventurer for as long as i can remember. My family never approved. My father told me he would disown me if i left the farm, but i didnt care, they just didnt understand. I wanted to see the world. My dad kept telling me the life of an adventurer was not for a country girl from a farm. He said i should just settle down and learn to be a respectable women get married and have kids and be happy. I didnt want that I never wanted to just sit at home and cook and clean that was so boring. Shortly after my seventeenth birthday my mom fell ill. A few weeks later she died. a few days after the funeral i decided to travel to Roumen to become an adventurer. I gathered all of my savings and the dowry i receaved from my mother. during the middle of the night i planned to slip away. I knew that my father would never let me go after this. I was about to open the door and step outside when my father stepped in from the kitchen. How can you leave so soon after your mothers death? I responded by saying its because of that that I must leave please give me your blessing. I just lost your mother the love of my life and now i must lose you as well life can be so cruel. Go if you must but know this: If you leave you must never give up. Return only after you have made a name for yourself and only breifly at that. You must always do your best never forget where you came from but never stop moving forward. Know well that i will always love you and your home is here. With that retreated from the kitchen. I whispered goodbye father, be safe i love and will think of you always. I traveled to the nearby port tow by carriage and booked passeage on the Merriam a passenger ship destined for The Port City of Roumen.

Chapter 2 Mara's Pirates

Once my passage was booked i headed to the town square. I would need some supplies once i arrived. I first decided to arm myself. I purchased a quality sword and sheild from an armorer figuring it would be a good balance. I then bought some armour that seemed light and sturdy i figured it would allow me to get used to armor. Next i visited an apothecary. There i purchased a number of scrolls that would help out in a pinch as well as magic stones that could heal wouunds and restore a tired spirit. Figuring caution was prudent i purchased several potions that did the same, as well as a few antidotes. I then decided to purchase a few scrolls of detailed information on specific techniques known to be effective in fighting monsters. Storing the items in my pouch i was ready. I stayed the night at an inn in town it was nothing fancy i needed to save money for once i arrived at the mainland. The next morning i headed to the harbor to board the ship. One of the crew noticed I was outfitted for travel and fighting and said; going to try and be an adventurer eh? When you get to town you should introduce yourself to romulus the town leader. You could talk to that lot over there as well they are traveling there to do the same. I looked to a spot near the mizzenmast. A group of men in heavy armor sat talking of the riches and fame they would gain once they reached the mainland. I walked over to them and introduced myself. They all stared at me for a second then burst out laughing. Taken aback at being treated so rudely i asked why they laughed? They said still laughing a little girl like you is going to be an adventurer? They said youd best go home and play with your dolls. Infuriated i challenged one to a duel. He said fine but i wont take it easy on you just cause your a girl. I drew my sword from its sheath on my back and took a stance described in one of the scrolls as a defensive move. The man charged me i parried his blow with my sheild and used the flat side of my word to hit him in the back of the head he fell head first onto the deck. He got up shakily and said not bad methinks youll do fine. I bowed to him and he returned the gesture saying please forgive our earlier rudeness you clearly have skill. I sat down and asked what their plans where. We talked for hours then at sunset when we where nearing roumen there was an explosion of the port side. A shout came down from the crows nest. Pirates! It's Maras pirates! prepare to return fire and repel boarders. We got up and drew our weapons. about twenty pirates swung on ropes and boarded some where killed by archers before they landed. Fighting broke out around me. Then someone charged me with a dagger. I blocked with my sheild and slashed at him with my sword he jumped back and began circling me. I kept pace with him he thrusted i blocked with my sword spun around and rent him in two. Two arrows narroly missed my head. I spotted the archer raised my sheild and charged her. I thrusted my sword into her stomach and pulled it out she fell. Thats when i saw her, Mara. I backed up and circled her. The archers in the masts fired some arrows mara kicked them back at them killing all but two. I knew I stood no chance against her. Facing her I backed away she made no move to stop me. I decided that i would take out her men and then we could all group up and attack her together to overwelm her. It took the better part of an hour to kill or capture all the pirates among the cannon blasts and debris. Mara was all that was left on their side. Me and two of the adventurers and the two archers where all that remained able to fight. A cleric was tending the wounded in the back she was missing an arm. I used several of the magic scrolls to make sure I wouldnt fall easy and gave some to the others and healed our wounds with potions and healing stones. The archers stayed in back planning to fire only when mara was distracted. I decided to keep most of the attacks while the mage whom was among the ones i talked to earlier cast spells when she was destracted as well. The one i had fought decided to attack while i defended. Mara kicked at us while i used my sheild to block and knock her off balance the archers and mage would fire then the fighter would slash. mara had used most of her stock of supplies by the time we engaged her. She was forced to retreat which was good because we had little supplies left as well. The ship was badly damaged and almost didnt reach port in Roumen. The ship was anchored for repairs the crew and those of us that had survived laid to rest those that had died.

Chapter 3 dangerous and slimey things.

After the funeral me and the comrades parted ways promising to meet again one day and exchange stories of our travels. I headed to an inn to rest and take a bath. I was covered in gore and grime from the fight. That night i cleaned and polished my armor and weapons. When morning came i met with Romulus. He was talking with the captian of the merriem. I introduced myself as Ritz daughter of Elana. He introduced himself as Romulus son of Roumulun. The captain introduced himself as Mavin Son of Sigfreid. He said he would like to thank me for my help dealing with mara and that he would hire more gaurds in the future. I said that there was no way he could have forseen the attack and that we where all in danger and was glad that i could help. I am impressed this is the first time a ship targeted by mara escaped. Let alone could fend her off. said romulus. That was only possible thanks to this young lady. said Captain Mavin. Romulus looked me up and down and said i'd like to ask your help dealing with a dangerous situation. I said i'd do what i could. He said that a giant green slime was reeking havoc in the cliffs outside the city and he was looking for promising adventurers to help deal with it. Ill do my best. I responded. He said hed like me to prepare and that they set out tomorrow and to meet at the edge of town on the upper teir plaza. I said i would and departed. Captain Mavin said hed like to thank me and gave me a bag of bronze coin i said thank you it would be very helpfull. We departed in seperate directions i too the plaza to resupply i had booked the room at the inn for four days while i decided my next move. I then went to sleep early in preperation for the next day. The following day I woke early and decided to head into town and look through the shops. I saw that an armorer was selling a better sword and sheild than i had. I bought them. I started walking away when he hailed me back i turned and he proceeded to tell me about strengthening my weapons. He said that i needed elrues a type of magic stone sold often by adventurers. I searched the bazaar for some and bought a few. I then returned and he showed me how to strengthen my weapons. I increased it three times he said once i get it to a certain degree of strength i'll need stronger stones and there are variations on them called lucky and blessed. After that he told me to talk to ruby a skill scroll merchant about alchemy to make things. I thanked him and headed to the entrance of town. I met romulus there he hailed me and i went to him. He said that these where my allies that would join me in fighting the slime. Just then a scout returned and informed romulus of the situation. Romulus turned to us and said that the slime is a king slime and we would face his army and be prepared for a long fight. We then used teleportation scrolls from romulus and the town gaurds to warp to the area. Once there We where set upon by slimes and some ratmen. We quickly dispatched them and began to attack the slimes. Honyings joined the frey. We easily killed the slimes untill we got to the silver slimes they where a bit tougher. We got rid of them and where faced with gold slimes these where very tough to kill we lost the first of our number to them he was knocked off the cliff. Then suddenly while we where distracted three prince slimes came at us killing three instantly and injuring two. Redoubling our efforts we managed to kill the remaining gold slimes and heal the injured. The princes had retreated and joined together with the other princes. They rushed us. We where perepared this time. Those of us with sheilds blocked them while the mages and archers destroyed them from afar. we all gathered at the top of the hill where we healed our injuries and retored our spirit energy. Then we charged the king. Instantly two fighters where killed. I was left alone to defend. I used my best scrolls to make it much harder to kill me and told the archers and mages that i would lure it around the platue. They should follow at a distance and attack while it follows me. Suddenly three princes and a queen slime come over the tops of the cliffs and tried to flank us i lured them and was badly injured i ordered a temporary retreat. We healed and regrouped. i lured the queen out whil the others where distracted to the lower teir and we killed her. We then lured the princes and killed them by this time we had very little supplies left. I then charged the king and the archers and mages used their best at once and knocked the king from the cliff and he splattered on the chasm floor. We returned injured and tired to roumen. We laid to rest those that had fallen. We then rested and healed our wounds.
