What are they going to be doing this mait? shut down the servers for a few hours for the lulz? :rolleyes:

I think they are probably creating a copy of everything and then restarting the servers. And with as much data as they store, backing everything up probably takes quite a while. I'm sure there are other things they do as well that also add time to the maintenance.

They do it to make all the grindaholics that haven't gone to work, or the bathroom, or slept at all since the cap raise a chance to take a short 2 hour nap maybe? :rolleyes:

Like quest bugs, weapons or gear bugs, game play bugs, map bugs, or skill bugs.
NO DUDE THERE IS A NEW SC ITEM THAT CAME OUT TODAY. OMG IT IS GREAT.
So yea I agree with outspark, why work on something that doesn't bring them money? So for all your non sc users out there, this maintenance goes our to you cause they are not going to fix anything you want fixed, maybe they will mess up what they fixed before. So open up a cold one and pray that OnSoft decides to give the rights of the game to another company or OS buys it out to eliminate this "communication issue." An excuse for OS to never be able to alter the game. So buy it out or let another company buy it out, maybe the game experience would change and OnSoft would make more money.
I will probably be forum banned for my idea.

Why would you be banned for expressing an opinion? The only users in the past that have been banned for doing so are ones that have done so in completely inappropriate manners (like a lot of cursing, personal attacks, etc).
Server maintenance is done each week for data backup.

Outspark cannot work on the servers while they are running. Routine maintenance happens every week to make sure things are performing as intended as well as tweak, back up, update their software, etc. It's common with MMOs.

i wanna know what they do in routine maintainence.I don't think they need to close servers to backup stuff do they?If this is not the case then what do they really do?I am not being offensive,just curious.

Data backup mostly.
They close the databases connexion for them being able to save everything.
If a server happen to die, they can restore the data that way, our toons are safe ._.
The servers are not really shut down, just the connexions that are closed.
