Yesterday was the first KG for me and I was level 13, I have only used stats on endurance and I only have taunt with Cooldown reduced 4 times, ok, I started it, had no clue what to do, saw few ppl asking for party, so did I, got into 1 and it seemed that everyone just had awful rush to somewhere so I just followed everyone, first mobs were easy, the longer we got I noticed that higher level fighter didn't have taunt, so I started taunting big mobs to me, ofc it spend my mana quite fast but luckily I had mana potions so by the time we got to the last boss, I asked "everyone ready?" no answers and some hunter pulled and died, then I taunted it got no heals and died, since I know there are no ress spell until level 20, I asked what should I do now since I died and had no clue what would happen if I press "move" finally after sometime, people was dying boss regening health I got answer, yes.. press move you will lose only heart from the below the timer. Ok pressed it, got back to full health, made sure to everyone that I was the tank with taunt and took the boss again, went nice and easy to around 20% but then I died again, I don't know if healers was out of mana of anything but got back up, healed up and took boss as fast as I could, it was easy to keep at me with taunt, we got it to around 10% but since too many ppl were fully out of lives, we failed.
It was good experience how tanking works now I just need to level up since the boss hitted me for 100-250 (with no buffs other than my own +armor scroll) and I had 400 HP.
I have +3 on every gear I can get at that level ^_^
Ideas, suggestions are welcome.

Uh......make sure your teams more organised before you take on King Slime, any 13+ can tank him as long as you keep aggro on you and dps takes out his spawns as soon as they pop up.

Yeah, that was just bad organization. I tanked King Slime on my fighter at either 11 or 12, with no problems. The best thing you can do at lower levels is to invest in some vitality scrolls. It will give you a little extra buffer for mis-timed heals, and to account for some poorly played clerics.

Wow, that sounds worst than the time I entered and there was only one cleric.
Oh, wait, this isn't AS bad. Still, pretty bad.
If you're planning to tank, make sure at least one cleric is in your party. It isn't necessary, but it's easier to see how much SP s/he has left, and when you should start relying on your own healing methods.
Your items should include Shield Defence and Vitality scrolls, as well as some HP pots and HP stones. SP stones should be sufficient for mana needs, since you'll mostly spend it using Concussive Charge and Sneering Kick. Just don't waste too much on Slice and Dice. If you still feel the need anyway, pack SP pots, 'cause there really isn't any harm in being overly prepared (except in your wallet).
If the boss begins moving away from you in the slightest, Sneering Kick him. Common sense. If you miss your chance to do so, you can suffer some Mage and Archer casualties. Normally, you can't catch up until it stops to attack.

Yeah, well I tried again to do KG and this time we stopped before King, made sure who was going to tank and yes it was me as I was the only pure end build, adds were killed instantly heals were good, this time I had stun skill and used it on every cooldown as well as taunt since I did have SP pots + I used HP pots, stones to help the healers, it went fine untill something unexpected happened, queen and 2(maybe 3) mobs spawned at king being at very low hp(maybe when he died) didn't notice but I taunted queen right away but I got one-shotted to death, I was like "Huh Am i supposed to tank all of these :P" died another time but then waited a bit to other fighters to pick of the smaller adds with the queen and then ressed back, healed up and picked up queen, then it went smoothly. Too bad the reward was bad for me but I was happy enough to be able pull it off :P
So now I know what to do, open up I bit more when it starts and it goes easy.
ps. Thanks for the replies

One note, it is extremely easy to get vitality scrolls. I don't know about mistimed heals, but a level 13 fighter with >100 defense can go down in less than a second if King Slime does a powerful attack and there is anything other than KS attacking the tank. I am a level 16 cleric, and there was nothing I could do to keep our tanks up. Only one fighter had a def scroll, and none of them had vitality. They blamed the clerics for some reason, but if you go from full health to 1 health in a single hit regularly, the problem is NOT the clerics.
Here is how you do it.
From level 12 up until you hit level 16, Weapon Title Merchant Zach will give you a "medicinal herbs" quest. He asks you to kill 15 ratmen and get him an Herb Leaf. You can kill the ratmen on the central island of the Forest of Mist (they're level 13, and none of the mobs on that island are agro), and there are always lots of herb spawns, so you can pick up several herb leaves. Take these back to Zach to get your reward, including a Scroll of Vitality.
With this easy quest, I can't see any reason why every fighter from level 12 up shouldn't be running the quest with a vitality scroll. Don't blame the clerics if a fighter goes into the KQ unprepared.

ok, question here..
iīm a lvl 14 cleric, and when i did my last kq i didnīt get invite, finally one guy wasnt in party yet so i have just 1 teammate who i have to keep topped up..
then people who have 2 clerics in their party are putting me down because i didnīt heal them.. why donīt wait until everybody is in a party and then leave?
you know, as a group..itīs so chaotic and a cleric with just 1 fighter in party is almost useless as itīs quite difficult to guess whoīs healing who and thereīs not much you can do but heal just the one guy..

Well, the slime quest is worst for that. Once you start mara kq, most people have grown out of blaming the clerics, and come Gold Hill, there seem to be only a few left.

My take on clerics in KG is that their primary responsibility is to their party as you move up. If your party doesn't need healing, try your best to heal others who may need healing. It can be very difficult to target people so you can check their life if five or six people are trying to melee a single mob, so let people know this if they're complaining. If you have plenty of powerful fighters on your way up, you might even ask that lesser characters not block your view of the better melees. There is nothing worse than a level 10 cleric trying to melee and blocking your view of the 16 fighter who is keeping agro (and thus needs healing). Once you reach the top, the players remaining should agree on a primary tank for KS. Don't let this tank die. Try to keep them targetted at all times and keep track of their location in case you need to retarget them.
