Um wow. Ok all noobies listen here. It's not flameing... just... informing

YOU RETARD... no jk lol

I dont know how any of you that don't have an invite downloaded the game. I tried to make a 2nd account and it wouldn't let me because my second account **wasn't invited**... so let me ask, did somebody already put a torrent up for this game or what happened here? The only reason you should even have the game is if you WERE invited so if you weren't STOP asking why it wont let you log in and STOP asking to get an invite. Jeez.

If you have a legit problem goto the tech support threads and post there.

EDIT: Don't be offended. It's not meant to be rude... thats just my way of say "Man that sucks... anyway ima play SoS cya" XD lol (note i cant play anyway atm)

*coughs* I hope this helps everyone, but it kinda sounds a bit rude. Some can tell you mean no harm, but a new person will be like "Omg, ***?!?! This guy is like telling me off!!" Or something like that.

And telling them to stop will only cause them to make more. T^T

It wasn't a torrent. People literally could just go and download the game with a new account. Maybe it's people from a certain country? :P I dunno.

Not necessarily. If it was we would most likely be notified via announcement. It would also most likely have been corrected. A lot of people are not using common sense when dealing with this (not saying you aren't) But we should all accept the fact if we are getting a 401 error , even we *were* invited, like myself for instance, that open beta will be here before any of us non-sos-players will get to play.

You sir are a fricken moron. Want to know how to not make a rude post? Don't make a rude post you ******.
Your post has nothing to do with actually getting a CBT invite. You just whine and complain about people being able to download the client. Guess what, anybody can download the client. Anybody can make an account. But not everybody can log in. So what would you think if you stumbled on a game and wasted 30 mins downloading and installing it, signed up(it even asks you to invite a friend), but couldn't play(this can be avoided, which i will include later). Probably say hey *** is going on here?
If outspark wasn't off screwing the dog and had a code or some other method of restricting downloads/registration you might have a point. But they don't and probably won't so you are just a arrogant *****.

Screw your mother. LOL j/k ROTFL GFY FTL

This is all I had to do to be able to play the game and no CBT invite recieved.
Sign up for username on outspark.

It's entirely possible between the time someone creates an account, and starts the download, they are invited. As theres much speculation the most LOGICAL reason is that a certain percentage of random sign-ups are allow to play. And since ur so much of a genious Im not whining. I'm completely content to wait for open beta even tho I did recive an email invite from admins. And no, not everyone can download the client. Check ur source dumbass. Okay, may I, a newbie, ask something? I've deduced from this that Closed Beta means no people unless you're special and get an invite. (not meant harshly) But since there's a website you can download the thing and not use it unless you use Lysdexian's method, which I haven't tried yet because when I double click the thing called SosClient a smallish black box with a white border comes up for less than a tenth of a second (I clicked it many many times...) and I didn't request for SoS to be put on my desktop during installation.

What am I supposed to be clicking?

i remember a cmd prompt screen popped up for me, but it launched the updates i believe(was too fast, but updates started right after). i got an error 412 when i tried to login the first time after that, but i just closed SoS then reopened and it let me log in no problems. There's numerous people in here who also didn't sign up for any beta testing.

Wow ur dum. Seriously...

If only some people actually used their brains.. or even read the whole post instead of just skimming through it, people like me wouldn't have to sit here typing out another explanation. ><. And just an FYI for someone who also doesn't use a dictionary, genius can be spelled both ways just like theatre (which if you type it in has red squigglies but we all know it still correct :P)... again sticking ur foot in ur mouth.

As far as the source I quote

It's entirely possible between the time someone creates an account, and starts the download, they are invited. As theres much speculation the most LOGICAL reason is that a certain percentage of random sign-ups are allow to play

Therefor as I just said, that is the most reasonable explanation. Since you can also play. But try reading the rest of the forums you'll notice there are people that CANT download the client. Try making a second account... oh whaddaya know that one prolly won't be able to download it either. So I laugh at your post. And it case you still don't get it, I wasn't talking about the download source >< I was talking about your information source.

If only you'd make more post like ur walkthrough.

schades

No, things are just pretty screwed up right now.

There are people that fall into ALL of these categories:

#1 People who are not invited can download+play
#2 People who are not invited can download but NOT play
#3 People who are not invited CANT download or play
#4 People who are INVITED can download+play
#5 People who are INVITED can download but NOT play
#6 People who are INVITED CANT download or play

Right now it seems pretty random. But only the GM's/Admins know for sure as they're the ones with the only viable proof any of the other chars are telling the truth about #1-6. This somehow gets noobs upset and they start flaming at me...

Most reasonable explanation, meaning the ones that makes sense, is that it's this way on purpose, that this is what admins/GM's did:

#1 Sent invites to select players.
#2 Allow a random % of new sign-ups to download/play
#3 A smaller percentage get one of those invites between the time they register and the time they take in getting to the download link.

Reasons why you could download but not play -> actually having technical difficulties which, with patches, and driver updates, should fix that problem (providing its not port issues, then you have to fix that)

Not saying that that IS the case, but doesn't it make the most sense VS. "OMG I'm an admin and I dont even know how to use a mouse!! SWEET!!!" I go with my previous explanation.

I hope this helps some of you guys who are truly confused about this whole thing. But hold out, Open Beta will be here soon enough. Then we can all play together in happiness lol. And we don't have to worry about these issues ^^... well unless you have connection issues.

I think the only reason it accepted me was because of my age group?? .. Just a guess. Maybe they needed people from a certain age group...or it could be a certain country..

I tried to put my birthdate December 31, 2050 but it said I was too young to have an account D=

So instead I put my real birthdate in and I had absalutally no problems downloading or starting the game, regardless of the fact I wasn't 'invited'...Whatever 'invited' means. Of course I did create my account a good 4 weeks before I started playing, don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

Edit:
In response to Schade's post above mine:

I'm not sure if this has anything at all to do with what you're saying, but the vast majority of people I've actually spoken to within in the game do, or have played RagnarokOnline, or some other MMORPG. I myself play RagnarokOnline. I have no clue if that has anything at all to do with it, but it could in some way be connected due to the fact that people who have played other online games know what to look for, perhaps, since this is indeed a closed beta. Then yet again there's no possible way I could think of that they could legally get that kind of information, so that connection I attempted to point out could be totally wrong.

Edit#2: A friend of mine I know in real life who saw me playing the game wanted to play as well. He created a profile on my computer and downloaded the game into his computer later that day when he got home. Though it took him a number of tries to download it, downloading the game, error, downloading again, error, downloading again, success, he finally got it started for him as well, and now he doesn't have any problems at all with playing the game on my, or his computer. Same for his little brother.

I'm sure they did have a number of factors into that, but theres no way for them to know if we did play ragnarok. Unless of course our personal private data (which we are assured is for their use only) is being sold/shared? which brings on another issue. But, humoring you, I'm going to release a little information that some may consider "classified"

Some of the DEV team and Admin were old admins/dev from ragnarok. Which prolly explains the similarity no? And knowing that there was prolly a large number of invites sent out to people they saw in-game/registered. Also, many people play a game called GunZ. It's offered by ijji right now. Some of their team also are part of the dev/admins for this game. Third, Guntrix, a HUMONGOUSLY popular and well-known dev on GunZ was a primary developer on this game and did invite a number of people from the GunzFactor forums, including my brother (which has a pretty huge reputation on the forum himself). Now some or even alot of my facts could be plain wrong, or slighty construed in the wrong direction, I can't be certain, but this is what the so-called grapevine has delivered to me via posts from GunzFactor and a little 1 on 1 convos from reliable sources. What the case is, I understand open beta should be a week away (from other sources), and speculation at this point really is not relevant as the CB has expired, and whether a week or a month away, OB is coming.

They said the GMs made it so that un-invited players cannot download the game.

I started playing this game for the past 2 weeks, and i didn't get an invitation to play it when i joinned. I just download it on my computer, installed it, and run the game, then started playing. Pretty sure they wouldn't have a torrent site for it, since it was a CB at the time.

From what I'm reading, some players are having problems installing it, such as errors or something. I downloaded the game on my laptop also, no errors when installing or playing it.

but now it doesn't matter, OB COME TO US QUICK!

Yea I know those who dont have a sense of humour think it was rude. that's why I specifically made a post apologizing. Of course you didn't see that. Btw torrenting in itself isn't illegal. And consider the retarded comment you just made. You are applying that scenario to a FREE GAME. In this situation, file sharing is in no way illegal. Even blizzard uses torrenting... so get ur facts straights. And ***.... MPAA? what? gonna rate this thread PG-13? ..... the thread doesn't fail. This thread, tho you may think started off wrong, contains alot of helpful information. Not to mention now that the CB is over *** does it matter?! (as you already stated in your latest post)

And I hope that wasn't you who -rep'd me cause if it was it really goes to show (to whoever it was) how much you dont read posts. Not that I really care that you -rep'd me (again to whoever did) cause it didn't affect my rep at all XD. so... post some more, maybe then it will.

The reputation system fails. And there is no need to flame.

Torrenting IS ILLEGAL. Use google. I couldn't be bothered trying to give you links myself when you will not even click on them.

And besides the CB stage is over. And setting up a .torrent for a game that is downloadable by "Invite" only is against the creators wish which is against the ToS or whatever.

For OB you will not need an invite as the game will be open for anyone to play.

Torrenting, by definition, is the hosting of copyrighted material. It is not the illegal distribution of said material. And furthermore, just because you have a copy of the game doesn't mean you can play it. Many people will download the game and not be able to play. And since open beta is coming in a few days (hopefully) a torrent is just the thing the game needs to get more players. Yes torrenting can be abused and I'm sure everyone has their own beliefs and opinions. But's let face it, the LAW fails to ban it, whats your problem with it?

MiseryIndex
11-20-2007, 05:23 PM
I have no problem with torrenting. No problem at all, even as I say this I'm torrenting. The thing is, this is definatly not the place to talk about torrenting. And mind you it is illegal.

ISP's do their best to block torrenting which is why we have options in uTorrent like Data Encryption or Lazy BitField. The MPAA sets up fake trackers and torrents in order to distribute loggers that give out information on these persons who torrent their movies and music illegally so they can take legal action against them.

On the news not to long ago a man went over board when he downloaded like 900Gbs of music from a fake tracker run by the MPAA..

Torrenting is for idiots who want to get caught. Unless you use private trackers.

Yes there are less viruses and you actually get what you want + More and it's not as pathetic as P2P like say Bearshare or Limewire (YUCK).

But it is definatly Illegal. Websites try to endorce the fact that It's not if you say you "swear" you owned a copy and are only downloaded it because your original got destroyed or the cd was too scratched to read or a virus attacked your computer. But even then its still illegal.

Just be careful when torrenting.

Oh and another thing. Lots of deadlines can be broken when torrenting. Take Parkway Drive's album "Horizons" 190,000 people had it exactly 6 days before the official release. There were already lyrics on the internet and the songs avalible to download from music.ru for 0.08c each.
