I'm not gonna lie...I've asked to be friends with GM's before...though it wasn't like "ZOMG I JUST MET U CAN WE B FRIENDS NOW KTHX"

See, people forget to realize that the GM's are people, too. It's all about how you approach them. If you come at them asking for free stuff and asking to become a GM and whatnot, then obviously they will treat you accordingly.

If you speak to them as if you are just a normal person talking to another normal person, it's much easier to get to know them. The thing is, alot of people just want to use the GM for the wrong reasons (such as the things you have typed for the poll options)

I know the GM's are very busy people, but remember they are still PEOPLE ;) And usually, if you get to know them, they are pretty cool people.

DISCLAIMER: I do NOT know any of the GM's here. I haven't spoken to any of them nearly enough to claim to know anything about them ;) Its an open invite though, if any GM (or even just any other player) wants to chat sometime :)

Lol, I myself have been a GM on Many of the Ragnarök Online Servers, and i can say its not all that its cracked up to be. Sure the Feeling of God is good and Hosting Events is awesome but the amount of spams,pm's,email's from people as well as the people abusing the game and Community is just not worth it. Heh - I, too, have been friends with GMs on other games... ok, 1 GM on 1 other game but still... the funniest things he would tell me was when players would complain about killstealers or (in PvP games) getting killed and robbed, etc. and they wanted him to do something about it NOW or they were going to quit the game, like that mattered. When he'd say 'Sorry, this is a PK game. You knew that when you created an account. As for killstealers, PK them if you're strong enough or get stronger."

You can imagine the torrent of insults and threats he received after that. In the end he simply starting ognoring requests that seemed noob in nature.

PS: when I met this GM he was in a seprate player account. I had no idea who he was when we'd go out together but we got along fine. It wasn't until later he revealed, under strict confidence, who he was. Could you imagine what would happen ig his secret identity had been revealed to the server? LOL!

I guess my thought it this: PLAY NICE WITH EVERYONE - you never know who they'll turn out to be.

What I hate, more than ANYTHING, is in-game beggars asking for gold (kron), items, equipment. It's not that hard to go out and earn it for yourself, ppl! Get off yer lazy arses and go hunting! Now thing about what a GM has to face with these ultra-beggars who KNOW the GM can, if he/she desires, grant any wish the noob desires.... scary stuff.

Well all this beggers to GM stuff is kinda overrated now , i find it more funny now when you encounter with moronic GM's , it happened to me in FFXI that a GM temporarily banned me for "speed hacking" while all i was doing is using normal boots that increased your speed , after a few days the ban was removed and the GM wanted to speak with me about why i should not "cheat" , so after a few minutes of trying to make him understand about the existance of this boots he was all like "Well i see you are hard headed and dont want to understand , want me to ban you again?" i just LOL'ed , so in the end i had no choice but to play dumb and be like "Yes im sorry , it wont happen again" , last thing he said was that he didnt believe on me and that he was going to keep watching me .

Have anyone had this kind of problems before ? i have alot more of this moronic GM's experiences..

I have to say I am new to mmorpg's but anyone with a brain and the desire to learn should be able to catch on quickly. What I need is a source to educate myself about terminology of gamers, etiquete, what to do, avoid, watch out for, and in general have a great time meeting people and playing the game. If anyone knows such a source please put it out and those of us who are trying will move along a lot faster, ok? :)

Well actuly GMs can't even get themselfs up lvls with a touch of a button, or just get 1mil by just typing a code in. they really have to train themselfs up the lvls (but they can change the rates and stuff) and if you ever find yourself taunting a noob just think of yourself in the place of that noob because you are not the strongest person in the game. and if you do make fun of a noob what if that noob becomes stronger than you, or they might become a GM and BAN YOU FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

actually note true about can only train to high lvls. GM have a lot more power and authority than you think. And depending on the way the server is setup andrix? mysql? they probably can just instantly change ur character model to that of a monster from the game, albiet your items/weps dont fit right but hey what the heck.

If i'm right you should write it like 'schön', the umlaut is important. another thing is the u in the german language. I don't know if you guys actually use it(very doubtly so), but the u in the german language sounds like oe. as in 'schuhe' which means shoe. Then again, i'm just 17 and it's still in my mind(did the exam about two years ago, forgot all grammar, but hey, i can type and speak it :3).

anyway, on-topic: noobs also wants plvling and such, but most things that a noob says to a GM is already stated in the topic. Or maybe the one i nwhere they say, nerf mage please. or whatever class. Oh yea, i think opt 4.

Well noobs are mostly beginners I mean were all noobs at a time I would help them to an extent. If they ask for gear or constantly annoying you yea they get badly treated, sure there are people better than me. It is meant to be someone always better than you. Since were all starting on lvl 1 i think we won't have to worry that much about noobs so yeah

Seems to me you got that wrong.

While everyone was once new/novice to something (and therefore, somewhat inexperienced and naive), not everyone was actually a n00b. A n00b is not just someone who doesn’t know a **** about what he’s doing, they also make no attempt as to actually learn, so even though they tend to be “experienced” players they often make mistakes that would more likely be attributed to someone who’s actually completely new. In other words, they didn’t and still won’t read the ****ing manual.

Thanks to all of you. Its kind of hard trying to find sources to teach myself but I'm hanging in there. Everything is so interesting that I really enjoy just watching others and their strategies. Hopefully I will soon be smart enough that I don't stick my foot in my mouth every time I turn around. :)

I think the one that gets me is the "groupie" sucking up to the GM to the extent that the GM is distracted from doing his/HER job.

So if I have it right a noob is a "broken light bulb" in the box. Won't change, won't improve and keeps on doing the same stupid stuff. A newb is a player new to the game and is just inexperienced.... right? ok Now where do I find stuff like shortcut words like rofl, ks, xD, etc. is there a wiki somewhere that I can read???
