Despite the title, this ironically is neither a "clerics are st00pid" thread or "fighters are st00pid" thread. This here, is a story.

It was a Slime KQ, filled with, approximately: 6 fighters, 3 clerics, 3 archers, and 3 mages. One of the fighters, supposedly using a secondary account, immediately moaned that no one had the stats to tank the boss. (two fighters had over 320HP, but no Vit scrols on) I wasn't worried, as I brought a Shield and Vit Scroll with me. I'm being a cleric, by the way. In any case, I only managed to grab a warrior as my party member, ShAmA0, who is a vital piece to this story.

We fought through the first level.. ho-hum. I managed to grab a wizard who d/ced at the beginning of the KQ, but he d/ced again. On the second level, one warrior tried to commit suicide on purpose. He claimed no one could tank the boss, so it was pointless. I chased after him, using Tier3 Heals (I was level 16) which immediately stole the monsters attacking him. I stopped after I stole 5 honeyings at once, since I could very well just kill myself in the process. He soon got his wish and left the KQ. We were down to about 12 people then.

A lot more stuff happened.... people died at gold slime... bla bla bla... we still had 12 people left, and 29 or so minutes. At King Slime, people finally realized that they didn't know who would main tank. I vendored a scroll with the title "ShAmA0 buy this", since he had the most HP out of all of them. Another person bought it quickly, dropped it on the ground for THEIR partner, and I quickly picked it back up. I then realized that it would be a better idea to give it to their partner (full party + cleric = yay), so I vendored it again with the title "xxxx buy this". My partner ShAmA0, ignoring the title of the shop, grabbed it, used it, and charged ahead.

You're probably thinking "oh jeez all heck breaks loose". Not exactly. We actually did pretty well. I used Tier2 Heals as it's more efficient than Tier3. It was going great... until I soon learned an important fact: ShAmA0 never bothered to learn Snearing Kick. Some people died, including myself once, but he managed to grab it back while the real damage dealers were unconscious. At around 1/3rd health, King Slime summoned the Queen and Prince Slimes. As a precaution, I got close to King Slime to make sure the Queens and Princes would attack one of 3 healers instead of killing the main tank. It worked. I ran around, healing and being grateful that the other players noticed and tried taking them off of me. But then the Main Tank died. I don't know why. Maybe the priests were trying to heal me. Maybe they thought I would accidentally place the monsters chasing me on them and moved away.

Everyone died. Well, almost everyone. I lost another life. The Prince and Queen slimes were having their way with people. When most everyone was dead, people stopped attacking the King Slime. What happens when you sto attacking a monster? He heals. I watched him heal.... 1/2HP..2/3HP.. Miraculously, ShAmA0 pulled another Vit scroll out of his pocket and needed me to heal him. I don't know where that came from. All we had left were five people: Me, warrior ShAmA0, a talkative cleric I met in the Sea of Greed known as xQuickHandsx, m4g3, and Elrath the cleric. (So 3 clerics, a warrior, and a mage)

The Queen was happy being away in a corner, but a Prince Slime came to attack me. I had to heal the main tank while simoltaneously attacking the slime with Lv1 Bash, normal attacks, and alternating between pots and HP stones. (And maaaybe an MP stone/pot if I was that desperate) The Prince Slime finally died, but not without the help of xQuickHandsx who healed me once or twice when the main tank didn't need healing.

We had roughly 10 minutes left. King Slime had 2/3rds of his HP. All that's damaging it is a warrior and a mage. I knew attacking the slime was a bad idea, because I did that earlier and actually stole it from the main tank ShAmA0 twice. (Luckily he knew Stun, which saved me from several deaths).

5 minutes left. The timer started flashing red. We all knew we were running out of time. That's when it hit me: there's 5 people, but only one of them is in my party. I started partying other people. I grabbed one because he lost his party. I got the two others to disband their own parties, and we formed a party of five so we had the full effects of the cleric buff. The mage started using a mushroom to regain her MP. We berated her saying she should use her SP pots. She had none. I vendored 20 for 15c each (very cheap), but she didn't even have the money to purchase 1 of them. I got restless, so every time the slime was stunned or used its AOE, I ran and bashed it (Lv2) a few times before running back. If I was lucky and hit, I could deal 14 damage on a normal hit and 31 with bash.

1 minute and 40 seconds left. It's so close to death, but we know we have to kill the Queen Slime. Another cleric, Elrath, saw that I was rushing the slime every time it used its AOE, so it attacked with me. Right before it died, King Slime used an AOE, killing both ShAmA0 and Elrath. They were on their last life when that happened.

1 minute and 30 seconds left. I charged the Queen Slime and shouted at the other cleric to not heal me but attack it. We attacked it with 2 clerics, one level 16 with a regular mace, one level 9, and a level 12 mage.

Here's the result:

This was an extremely long and boring story, but there was a point to it. It's not to brag about how great I was at not dying, nor how dumb players can be (and were in this KQ). It's the simple fact that we won the day with 3 clerics, a fighter who never learned sneering kick, and a mage who ran out of MP and was so broke that she couldn't even afford a single 15c MP potion.

Thank you for your time. Both commentary and inquiry is appreciated.

So.. why did you post this? Did you just want to get flammed or something?

Fighter's aren't stupid. Stupid people make Fighters stupid.

He's not picking on fighters, he's retelling his exciting KQ experiance. So don't be a ****** and let him have his moment.

anyways,

Way ta go, good read, sounds like you made it by the skin of your teeth.;)

I'll combine both the introduction and conclusion into the same post, so you don't forget mid-story.

Anyway, I'm basically leaving the reason I made this thread up to people's interpretation. (I bet you never thought you'd actually use literary analysis outside of high school!)
Makes it better, I'd say. :D

ALL FIGHTERS SHOULD HAVE SNEERING KICK NO MATTER WHAT. True because they're expected to tank anytime and they have to be ready, o and they should max skill empowerment on it. Great Story Btw

"ShAmA0", with a name like that i wouldn't have expected him to have any clue about anything, much less his class. He's probably some hyperactive 12 year old who still thinks l33t speak is cool.

For some hyperactive 12 year old, he sure was smart enough to grab another vit scroll from out of nowhere and become the only reason we survived the KQ. Was it his fault that he couldn't sneer kick? Yeah, but I didn't see the value in Sneer Kick either until I read clerics complaining about it constantly in the forums. Was it his fault that he died twice when clerics (like myself) should have been paying closer attention? No.

And as a note, he didn't speak l33t when he talked. Yes, he actually talked when talked to.

ALL FIGHTERS SHOULD HAVE SNEERING KICK NO MATTER WHAT. True because they're expected to tank anytime and they have to be ready, o and they should max skill empowerment on it. Great Story Btw I heard they should wait for their AOE taunt instead of empowering their sneering kick, since using one activates the cooldown for the other. It really was a cool event, as noted by me shouting YEAH several times.

Don't defend him please. Your group was a disaster and only a combination of divine intervention and dumb luck saved you. He even lied to you about having a vitality scroll until you gave him one, then miraculously used the one he had in his inventory all along. He wasn't the only reason you survived, his incompetence sounds like the main reason you were in trouble in the first place.

Actually, he never said anything regarding having or not having one. I simply assumed he had none because 1) he wasn't wearing one at the time, 2) He didn't volunteer to main tank (I volunteered him cuz he had 60HP more than the other warrior chosen), and 3) He could have simply forgotten about it in his inventory (I've done that once before during KQ x_x)

Mmm... "incompetence"... that defines this entire story quite nicely. Almost every player except myself not carrying spare scrolls. Maybe 3~4 people using said scrolls, none of them warriors. People who didn't have enough pots. A player who suicided because he saw the KQ as pointless.

Well, since literary analysis appears to be vogue on the internet, I'll just give my interpretation and let you decide if it's right or wrong and by how much. There have been several posts regarding the bashing of fighters: how they're dumb, how they don't know how to taunt, how they shout at you to heal them when they only need 30-40HP healed, how they don't use potions because they expect you to waste all your MP healing them.

This "same" scenario happens with a bunch of poorly managed players: no sneering kick, no scrolls, etc., etc. But what happens? We win. I think the point you're missing is that we would have won with 12 players had not ShAmA0 died when I stopped healing him since I was being chased by 2 Princes and a Queen. The last thing you'd ever notice while tanking is if one of three clerics stops healing you temporarily. The idea I'm trying to drill in is it's not about the class NOR their lack of skills. How do we call fighters stupid? "They don't know how to taunt" "They don't pay attention to their health bar". We quantify people based on their knowledge of the game. So he couldn't freaking sneer. He still did what he could. When I stole twice on accident and was nearly murdered, he managed to stun it both times. He took the affirmative the moment he found another Vit Scroll and told me flat out that he'll still try to tank it despite all the chaos going on. Heck, he didn't even get pissed when he died 1 second before King Slime died because we stopped healing him for a second. He also lost 30SP potions from it (which made me laugh since we were talking about it after the KQ).

So yeah. Oh, and thanks for the commentary and inquiry. I really do appreciate it, though it does look like I'm just being some loser defending him. :D

-doesn't care about how the tanker didn't have snearing kick or what not-

But the story was exciting, and I like it :) I even got a bit nervous for the group as the time is getting closer to none hehe. At least you guys stayed and tried to win the KQ unlike those who quit midway before they try (this you often see alot in KQ) causing the ones staying to be even at a more disadvantagous situation.

Grats on winning the KQ :) It was surely a good one :)

excellent story.............. but too long; was gonna sleep, so i scrolled down to the end. lmao.

All in all, you really need to learn to get to the gist of things or you will lose your audience.

Great story, there should be a sub-forum to tell stories like this (Tabern perhaps). And much to be learnt about them too.

wat the hell is a sneer kick any ways:confused:

It pisses off a monster you clicked on. Makes the Fighter the target of the monster unless something is more aggroing.

the point i see is that you've just proven wrong yet another retard who thinks he knows the game better than everyone else, moaning how all the other ppl in the KQ are noobs and that it's pointless to continue.

The only point I see is that he is saying even with an unprepared group, disorganized, falling apart, and semi-clueless bunch of people, anything can be accomplished if you take some initiative.
