View Full Version : Houses?

I have been thinking - it would be cool if our characters could buy property (houses) and use for storage of weapons, etc. other than the hotels (nice names by the way: Vader and Padme hotels... SW fans much?? :p) - also, to be able to buy furniture and decorate as we want.
If this happens, we could have monster head mounts for our walls and skins for our floors! LOL

would prolly have to limit the ammount of houses or have sum sort of appartment system for it :) cause it'd prolly take up a crap load of room if EVERY player had one, but anyway, that would be cool

I might see this coming for guilds(at least, those that meet certain requirements), but... for regular players?
Reserving a collection of rooms in hotels and houses in the cities themselves for this 'house-market' can be a rather complex thing (since 1 house per player is clearly impossible)... It would be nice, yes, but lets first get the guilds going (hmmm, is this even implemented yet?)

Yeah have something like guild with 20 or more people get a house to share with a room for each person. In each there could be a dresser that holds 50 items or something. Kind of a reward for the guild because they have so many people in their guild.
Maybe have another area like the King Slime area that you would just talk to a guy and he would take you off to another domination and your house would be in there, and at the very top where you would kill King Slime would be the other guy to talk to, to take you back to town.

1) The guild would need a specific minimum amount of money
2) The guild would either have to cough up a LOT of cash and certain special items or conquer some castle.
3) Alternatively, you could hold a special event where guilds can turn in sketches for special guild-mansions, with certain rules these sketches have to fall under (like, turned in and verified by the guild-leader). the winners get their own designed guild-house.
-> Special personal rooms within guild-houses will probably have to be limited to the top 5 or 10 of a guild(as chosen by guild-master?). if these people/the guild dies, the items/money gets forcibly transferred to the hotel-storage, probably resulting in too many items on the account and an impossibility to put new items in storage for a while... Alternatively, in stead of having a seperate storage, the storage in the hotels is increased and linked to both the hotels and your room in the guild-house.
Just my 2 cents =]
Tell me what you think about this, the same goes for the admins/developers =]

Well i think that the guild idea than the house is better and there should be quest that you can do to upgrade the guilds to have more room or funiture. If any one of you have played a game that is called .hack//G.U and have seen the guild houses, then I think you would agree with me that you would love to have our guilds that way.

It would be nice but... wouldn't that overload the server if everyone that could afford it got one?

This seems like a nice idea in theory, but it sure doesn't sound practical. While it'd be fun to have your own house (or guildhall, too), it would be a lot more work to implement and create. For now, I think this would be a bottom priority object for them. Though eventually it would be neat to have.

Hmmm... I am not sure about overloading the server. I guess it would depend on if everyone got a house or if everyone got the opportunity for a house.
On another game I played, any character could buy a parcel of land - parcels were limited and never in short demand. However, before one could simply move in, they had to build their house, piece by piece, by learning a TON of different skills. Masonry for the brickwork, carpentry for the woodwork and on and on... in the end, the houses were cool but not every player had one or tried to get one.
Perhaps something similar can be introduced here, although the skills involved would not be as much an issue as in the other game. Perhaps you must scope out and buy your land, then "build" your hosue somehow... in fact, one could sell a house, build another, sell it... hmmmm.....

was your idea where your house was outside where anyone and everyone could view it, if so yea I can already tell you that isnt going to happen. Now an easier way to do this is simple make an entrance to the housing area and instead of finding your house, or being able to see it. your instantly inside of it and on the inside of the house you can have furniture that stores stuff. lil fireplace and anything else u would find inside a small house. Would make things alot easier on the servers and the devs but also wouldnt be as cool as having your own place to call home in Sots. at least u could show off special trophies and other items u get from events in game by telling your friends to come kick it @ your crib lol.

Great idea but I would have to agree with Azrael on this one. It would be at the very bottom of the "To do list" for the SoS dev team. This game is barely in Closed Beta and hopefully open up to Open Beta soon. If they started thinking about that, it'd probably be a year if not more before they would start working on it.
On another note, Player houses would be great to have but I'd like to see something more along the lines of a Guild House / hall / castle like someone else mentioned. That way it wouldn't cause too much stress on the server. With that being said, if something like a guild hall were to be released I hope it'd either.
A.) Cost a ton of money..something along the lines of 500k (Random price because I don't know how easy it is to make money on there)
B.) As someone else mentioned: Doing it through a quest chain or some sort, where the entire guild could get involved.
In any case, great idea and I hope the members of the SoS dev team take this into consideration if they haven't thought of it already.

Sure, Id love to have houses on this MMORPG :) It would certantly taunt more people to join us and play :)
About houses i got some ideas:
When you buy houses, you could be able to buy usable furniture as you could edit and replace how u want it to be placed and how to look in your house.
For more money you could be able to resize your house... add another floor or make it bigger in size. Build up rooms as you want and it would be nice to have a garden too where you could grow flowers and bushes and such :).
And if u have a Guild/Clan you could build a fort or castle with cannons and ****.
But those are just ideas :D

what are you talking about a stupid idea? learn how free games works. make houses/ guild house a premium cash item only and SotS will rake in a fortune off people wanting one. I'm not really sure what your problem is or ur just in some pissed off mode and tried to flame someone about it. Regardless having a house with your own unique touch to it adds to character and player individuality that is almost the number one thing players seek out. Being able to stand out in a crowd, have e***** items. The more a player feels connected to a character and not bored with the game = a long time loyal player. nobody wants to look like everyone and everyone wants stuff others dont have. Being able to purchase a house and inviting your friends over is a superb idea. Since having a community of great friends in a game also means reason to continue to play. This is a win win situation both players feel good about the uniqueness and Outsparks can make money from it.

Damn i really have nothing to back up what I said now :p. well you lose some u win some lol  cuzzz i know people played the hell out of d2 for a very long time and some still do.

Ok, to put a few of our ideas together:
Personal housing: (not really necessary imo)
- Premium item (You pay money for it)
- Could be event-related, too.
-> Reachable by esporter-service only until given a place in a town.
--> party-members can also go there.
Guild-housing (GREATER priority than normal housing)
- Mostly Event and/or Quest-related
-> possibility for guilds to design their own housing and maybe adding a town around it, placed somewhere within the world boundaries (reachable to all)(seriously, this would be a HUGE way of binding people to the game)
--> Reachable by way of esporter-service. Until it gets its place on the map ingame, only those within the guild can reach it.
- Only for guilds with a specific minimum size.
- Costs a lot of ingame money, can be coupled with a quest that a guild will have to complete.
- Place in new to-be-designed villages/towns, as well as in existing towns.
Upgradability:
. Specific house-sizes for specific guild-levels?
. Inside does not have to be the same size as outside.
. There is ALWAYS the possibility to add rooms below ground.
-> Uniform staircases can be used to travel between stories.
Map& village-design:
Seriously, though... the possibility for people to submit maps and/or villages of their design would also be a nice way to create additional content and a cheap way to bind players to the game. It would put strain on admins, though, so unless it's an event-quest(!), only approved members should be able to turn in this.
-These maps will have to conform to several minimal requirements like style, size and level of detail.
-Of course, users submitting any of these designs will probably lose all rights to this except for being mentioned in (the) credits.
Finally....
-Using anything but standard furniture in housing has GOT to be the lowest priority-wise... it's nice, but really... its probably too complex to set up. Self-placed furniture is an impossible dream.

Not really it worked just fine in final fantasy. It was called a mog house where you could layout xmas tree's pictures, fishtanks, beds, storage bins, vases/flower pots, and many other things. cant be all that impossible when many players enjoyed it in FF and you actually got a xp deduction lose(for when you died xp lose was a true pain with no res lvl 3) if you had a certain bed in your mog house.

doesn't change that its pretty much a nightmare to add... lets just say i'd rather get more storage than that... would be about even in additional size for player-profiles...

I think guild houses only, which you need to pay monthly rent for and you have player storage npc inside, with no decorations except for maybe during holidays like Halloween the GMs can change the layout to like a Halloween skin.etc
