PLEASE RATE THIS, 10/10!
This is the story of my little Cleric, Caprisia, the little cleric that could...(with embellishments of course. Gilmore is fashioned after HappyGilmore ^^)

CHRONICLERICA
Part One
"In The Beginning"

The ship swayed under her feet as the 5-year-old girl stumbled up to the railing. Her mother and father put an arm around her as the black sea swooshed quietly below them. Pulling the ragged blue shawl tight around her as the cold sea breeze blew, the sailors began to jump to the lines as the Heartland neared the dock- the place Cappy, Mother, and Father would begin anew.

Caprisia felt her mother combing her short purple hair idly with her fingers as she stood in the mass of people. "Cap, run along please, over to that big fountain," her mother bid quietly. The little girl smiled and ran along. She knew why-- if mother and father were searched without their papers, they wanted Caprisia to stay in Isya, and not be sent back to the Old World...

Isya was supposed to be the place Caprisia and her family began again, where they could make an honest living...
It was not to be.

Sudddenly, a security officer with dark shimmering armor walked up to Julian and Marie, her mother and father. "Papers," he commanded. Father blanched. Mother began to weep.

The shadow-person began to smile visciously. "Get on the ship," he said. "No!" cried Mother. "Yes!" mocked the shadow. Somehow, Caprisia's mother and father could not see- this was a creature, a demon of the shadow realm! He had no authority!

As they were dragged back onto the ship, Caprisia's mother cast one, loving glance at her daughter. Caprisia began to run. "Mother! Father! Come back!" she cried. The shadow-guard grabbed her as the couple was sent back, and the ship pulled away. He leered at her, and let her go. She ran to the edge of the white-slab terrace, and wept her heart out into the blue sea. She turned and saw the shadow-thing disappear into a glowing archway. The sea took her weeping with patience- The last tears of Caprisia Chroniclerica.

CHRONICLERICA
Part Two
"The Stumbling"

As the young lady walked around the terrace she had lived on for twelve years, respectable people stopped and stared. Her otherwise soft brown eyes were filled with a mixture of the deepest rage and the most heartwrenching sorrow. Long, matted purple hair cascaded down her shoulders onto the sleeves of a too-small brown dress, skirting her knees. Tattered gray boots covered small feet. Her pale, glowing skin revealed she could have been a beauty- but only if perhaps her eyes were not so terrifying.

The lady had no interest in being a beauty. All she cared for, was that she find someone- she asked everyone she saw if they had seen a black person that had a horrible sneer. Some people said no and shook their heads sadly as she limped away. Others ran for their lives.

Caprsia stumbled up to someone, and asked in a rage-filled voice "Have you seen the shadow that walks the land of the light?" she asked, for the first time using a description with the word "shadow" in it. The man looked down at her person and his eyes filled with compassion. Startlingly, his were as brown as hers. "You kill it when you grow to the 20th rank," he said kindly. She snatched up his hand and kissed it. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" she cried in excitement. The man laughed, and pointed to Remi-- she already knew her. He smiled, waved, and left up a flight of blue stairs.

Caprisia walked up to Remi, her old friend. "Back again, Caprisia?" she asked in an amused tone. "Yes, Remi. This time, I swear, I am serious." Remi stood taller on her box. "Alright, what will it be, then? I think you should be a cleric-- if you're going to kill monsters for vengeance, you have to make it up so your soul won't be taken by the Bonded One," her friend advised. For a bit, she explained the basis of the world-- ranks, healing, everything. Caprisia nodded, and was taken to a lavishly decorated room.

Four wardrobes stood against the wall, etched with a bow, a staff, a mace, and a sword, with Archer, Mage, Cleric, and Fighter above them. She opened the clerics' wardrobe and the others disappeared. Suddenly she was in a white tub, and invisible hands began washing, brushing, combing, and cutting her hair. By the time she was dressed, her purple hair was short and stylishly layered. Like it had been before the shadow. She found herself dressed in new clothes- a bright blue, tight minidress, blue boots, and in her hand, she found a short eight-bladed mace. A ruffly-dressed lady appeared. She smiled, and held out her hand. Caprisia bravely took the offered hand, and was teleported back to Remi.

"Geez, you sure needed that!" guffawed Remi until Caprisia fixed her with such a penetrating glare that she was silenced. "Alright, go, go on, scat! Now you'll leave me like every other young kid who passes through..." grumbled Remi. Caprisia put an arm around her dear friends' shoulder. "I'll come back, Remi, don't complain. I'll come back and I'll show you that this mace is useful for something!" she told her quietly. Remi smiled and shooed her on. Before the new-made cleric broke away, she pressed a piece of paper into her hand. Out of the blue, a red-clothed boy appeared where Caprisia had stood only a minute before.

Looking down at the paper in her hand as she walked, she read the instructions on the back of a picture of an orange mushroom. "PLACE ORANGE MUSHROOM IN HAND AND CRUMPLE TO ACTIVATE" the directions read. Feeling like a fool, Caprisia dutifully squashed the piece of small, black paper in her fist.

Suddenly she felt cool. Looking up, she saw she was on the ground floor of a mushroom house! A ladder lead to the upper level, and a small windowed door was in the front of the house. Climbing the ladder, she saw a small circular window in the roof, a large wardrobe, and a comfy-looking bed against one wall. Looking at a framed plaque on the wall, she read aloud "OPEN DOOR TO DEACTIVATE". Deciding she would read on, she continued with the long plaque.

"TO CREATE A VENDOR: Crush orange mushroom in one hand to activate normal house. By the door, there is a single red button. Tap this. You will have all of your items transported to the wardrobe and a stall flipped out in front of your door. Set out your wares, attach supplied price tags, and wait for your money to come in. The money shall be placed in the locked drawer."

Looking over to the wardrobe, she saw a small drawer beneath the armoire that had a keyhole and key. The key was golden with a blue tassel, with the name "Caprisia" etched on it in blue letters. Returning to the plaque, she read how to deactivate the vendor.

Opening the door, she stepped back into the harsh sunlight of the Roumen Terrace. Startled, she noticed many orange vendors around her, with the owners calling out their wares.

"How 'bout some potions for the little lady?"

Caprisia spun at the sound of the strange voice. Pointing her mace menacingly at a red-dressed boy, the same one who had appeared just after her at Remi, she asked "What did you say?". "I said, would you like some of my potions? Hand-brewed, with a dash of brandy, from me,Gilmore," he said with a flourish. The insolent boy had short aqua hair with a flyaway strand at the top. A short sword was sheathed at his hip. He in turn slowly looked her over and said, "You lookin' for work?"

Caprisia stepped closer. "I might," she said mysteriously. She would need food, and healing stones. Julia up the stairs had told her about them, and the triangularly-bottled potions this young man was selling. "If you were, I could hire you for some materials. 1 silver a sack of tough meat, and 1.5s a basket of low quality Spirit's Fruit," he offered, winking at her. Stuffing her mushroom paper into her satchel, she shook the mans hand. Smiling, he pointed up the stairs, toward Julia. "Take those stairs, then follow the road. When you get to Roumen Forest, kill the purple things and the blue mushrooms and pick up the things they drop. Sell everything to James but any meat and pink fruit. Got it?" he asked. She nodded, dazed, and he gave her a little push toward the stairs. Unbuckling her mace from her belt, she ran up the stairs, quick as she could.

Chroniclerica
Part Three
"There He Goes"

[Caprisia let the dripping end of her mace fall to the forest floor as the purple slime in front of her turn into a bundle of spear-headed mists. She was weary, but she was rich. In only a month, she had made a total of 22 silver from her job with Gilmore. Also, he provided her companionship. She had thought she didn't need a friend from her life alone on the terrace, but she had soon proved herself wrong. Gilmore was funny, smart, and had a...happy nature. Such as when she had returned from hunting covered in purple goop, seething, and he said brightly "Look at the bright side: now you HAVE to be let into the bathhouse!". Caprisia had retorted bitterly "You
have a happy nature." Therefore, he had earned the nickname Happy Gilmore. He had just laughed when she had declared it so. And HUZZA, she was 11th level!

Since she had gotten so rich, she had gotten all new gear, including the dark Litany set, a belt with individual colored pouches for dusts, and a new mace with greater range. Feeling the pouches of her belt, she found she could probably make a double deal on her dusts today, seeing that
James was looking as weary as she felt.

Marching up to the smith, she plopped all three full pouches on his anvil and said "A silver please!" to James' slouching back. He didn't even turn around, but he dropped a shiny silver piece into her hand. Pocketing the money, yet feeling guilty, she asked "What is it James?" He turned around and gave a hollow smile. "My miners are getting scared off by Slanderer Phinoflies.
So far, there's a colony of five in Echo Cave. Could you go kill them for me?" Caprisia nodded--she had been harassed by the rock-slinging monsters herself while mining for the Chief. James gave
a more whole-hearted smile and gave her the component Quest Writ to certify she had been given this quest and, when the requirements were ticked off, deserved a reward. Stuffing the bright red writ into her magical bag, she went to go hand in her writ to Robin for hunting the Mini Greenkies.

Since she had explored more and more of the world that was Isya, she had discovered strange and fantastic creatures, although depressingly, every single one tried to kill her. She had participated in several Kingdom Quests (or KQs). She was on speaking terms with everyone in Roumen, especially Julia, which helped her with stones, and Robin, the grandfather who lived in the rickety old house, trove of unknown knowledge and secrets. Even now, she had completed seven tiers of a repeatable quest and one singular for him.

Leaping in front of the old man, Caprisia held out the glowing red writ for him to sign. The old man took it in shaky fingers and signed a line with an R, all he could manage at his venerable age. Planting a quick kiss on the top of his head, she could feel the 90 copper clinking around in her pocket. Dashing off to give Gilmore his supplies, she arrived at the Terrace (the unofficial vendor neighborhood) to find him packing up his wares!

"Gilmore! What's going on?!" she cried, seeing the abrupt end of her income. "What, this?" he said, sweeping his arm in an expansive gesture. "Yes!" "Oh, I'm just pulling up stakes for a bit, I'm set for a long grind to level 20 before I start business again," he said cheerfully. Caprisia sat down hard. There went her riches. Gilmore sat down beside her and said softly "Sorry, Cap." He got up, stuffed his black paper in his pocket, and
walked away waving. There he went, her only friend--so far.

Long after he left, she was crying.

Chroniclerica
Part Four
"FINALLY!"

Caprisia stood smugly in front of the tall, bluestone townhouse with Nomie gawping beside her. The FOR SALE sign had been abruptly removed, and some men were moving in Caprisia's choice of furniture. Nomie was a mage friend who favored a red and orange Chinese silk dress, and wielded a sparkling, shining wand. Although Caprisia thought it was the prettiest thing about her, not the alabaster skin nor the sparkling green eyes, Nomie always played down her straight orange hair.

Caprisia was level 19. She had met Nomie while romping through the Misty Forest, bravely battling a phino of the more evolved type. Throwing the Holy Shield at the struggling mage, the phinos' famous purple cap has quickly been bashed in. The mage was cantankerous for a bit, but quickly realized that this particular cleric was no boring healbot. THIS cleric was funny, and quiet, and kind, and expected no reward for saving the life of another. Nomie and Cap had been inseperable ever since.

Now Caprisia had a houseof her own! A few doors down from Title Merchant Zach, and across from James the smith, it was perfect for her. The back of the house overlooked the Terrace, and it was perfect for watching the huge bleubois wood ships and reading. Nomie had her own room, a loft in the attic, as stylishly outfitted as the rest of the house. Caprisia had seen this place go on the market and had snatched it up. Surprisingly, the owners had been so desperate to sell, it only cost 30 silver...

Well, that's good for me, Caprisia thought to herself. I'm going to need all the money I can get--title change coming up soon...Nomie thought Caprisia was uneccessarily worried about the change. "Heck, it's 7 levels away for me!" she had cried. Fixing her friend with a glare, Caprisia had said "And only one for me."

Now Nomie broke her reverie. "Wow, you definitely got a good kitchen!" Following the orange-clad mage around her new house, Caprisia smiled. Nomie liked to talk almost as much as she liked to cast spells.

Thinking back as Nomie chattered on, Caprisia knew she was still depressed and angry about Gilmore's sudden departure. Did he really want to finally level out of his red and yellow garb? Did he REALLY want to just grind? Or was there someone else? Someone...special? Laughing at herself, Caprisia pushed those thoughts away. Gilmore may have been her friend, but even if she hadwished for it (WHICH SHE DIDN'T), they would never be any more.

Or would they?

How could Gilmore just up and leave like that?! For crying out loud! what kind of a friend is/was he? He should have stuck by her, worked with her to make their way to fame and fortune, together.

No, I don't believe he could simply desert her like that, with a simple wave of the hand and "I'm set for a long grind to level 20 before I start business again." followed by a pathetic "Sorry Cap"?? OMG. I ought slap some sense in that young man. *shakes with rage*

OKAY!

It's been a really, really, really long time--so long, in fact, that I cringe at my past posts. Did I really need to be so bright and cheery and...newby?

BUT! I am, actually, back on my own writing squad. Even if this is my third computer, and I can't download Fiesta...

Heh, glad you're back, I really did enjoy your story. Luckily necroposting rules are pretty lax in fan fiction XD

Pity you can't download Fiesta but hey, you're writing again :D

I joined not to long ago and was flipping through the library in the fanfic cafe, when I stumbled over this title. So I come in, read it, love it, look for more on later posts, then discover everything's in the first post. Well that's not so bad, but its last update was in august 2 years ago D; Why do gems like this have to be forgotten and essentially lost to the new readers? Come back, Cappy! I wanna see what happens next D;

Forgive me for necro'ing, but this is too good to go to waste in the back rooms of the fanfiction library.

I agree, kawasu. Cap you should continue with this story.
