Questions about Sony Vegas 8 Pro

Well i baught it ._. im planning on making a video.... i already masked everything i need but i still hab questions to whoever can asnwer them @.@ lol some of them might sound stupid but w/e >.>

How can i make a video clip a solid color? like if i pick secondary color and mess with it it only turns the picture that color but i still can see the details like eyes @.@ is it possible to just turn it a solid color?

how do i make a rainbow? lol do i go every secon on timeline and choose a new color or is there a button i can just click and it will b a purdy rainbow 8D

can the newspaper effect (or however u call it) be a solid color other than b&w and the colors of the original video?

wats a good way to save a video for HQ ._. dvd quality?

and is adobe after effects better for masking?

Oh gosh, I've used Sony Vegas products for a lot of my movie making things. It's too pro for me, maybe if you try like cutting the clips? Like separating them and then adding the single color to each of them? [Sorry this probably didn't help at all considering I have the older versions]

Yes there is :) If you look on sony vegas, you'll see a tab called "Media Generators" and just look in that list and there should be "Solid Colors" :P If its not the color you are looking for just edit it.

Do you mean just a clip with all the colors? If so just go to "Media Generators" and edit the Color Gradient. There is a + button where you can add more colors.

Uhh do you mean the TV simulator? Or B&W video fx? O.o If you mean you want your clip to be a color like all Red (diff shades of red), just go to "Video FX" and click "Channel Blend". There should be the defaults of b&w, red, blue and green. And of course you can alter them to another color.

When I render my videos for youtube, I always render them as .wmv 6 mbps HD 720-25p video. But that's my personal preference xD
If you look at the video "Notice Me" I created, that's the setting of the render I just said.


and is adobe after effects better for masking?
I wouldn't know, I haven't played with masking too much for videos.

Okay I think I know what you mean by rainbow now. First get a normal color to change it under "Video Fx" > "Channel Blend", add a channel blend to it then if the menu thing doesn't pop up, do it manually. Click the + on the clip you want to do rainbow effect on, in the timeline. Now there should be those little diamond shaped points. If you make like say 5 new diamonds all different colors evenly spaced out it'll create a rainbow like effect. This goes the same for like making something have a glow effect for glow video fx. Just add more diamonds and change its settings.

You can also edit the diamonds by right clicking them.
