I predict there will be a shrotage of clerics for a while. I would go with cleric. Since clerics have the 2nd lowest str and 2nd highest def i would pick str. Actually i would do the 25 spr and rest str hybrid build for higher crit rate.

What s/he said. However if you can't afford extenders and/or +9 gear, you may have some issues with boss AoEs, most noticably MD's AoEs. On Bijou I was fully SCed, extender, charms when absolutly needed, suits etc etc, and I never had an issue, but you know you can always do a hyrbid hybrid (25 spr, XX end, rest str), but its up to you.

i was a cleric on epith, and made sure i solod every quest at least once (repeats sometimes parties just cause of the number of people doing them, but i always did at least one solo), and i managed to kill all the bosses (not including dragons tomb) solo, without any extenders, charms, anything.

the only sc items i got were a makeover, and a perm outfit, which until i was like 8x had no effects at all, granted, the perm outfit i used from 8x onwards had a 3% crit, but on a cleric, that means little. i also provided fairly good support in helga raids without using any charms or extenders, the only real time i used them was to see if i could solo dragons tomb, and that was long after i capped :>

it's harder to do things 'naked', but it's not impossible, the difference is more that it is far easier to do things with cookies/extenders/charms etc than without :>

apart from at the very start where i'm all about raising money to get my guild alive so all my friends have a place to chat, i'll be levelling the 'hard' way again - i'm sure some of the outfits i get to make me look pretty will have some enhancements built in, and i'm sure i'll buy enhanced weps and armors from other players who sell them (as there will be many people higher levelled than me), but i don't plan to do anything different than before, it'll just be harder, which is what i want.

i could charm up, make an archer, spend hundreds on SC and cap in 1-2 months, then get bored, or i can play the game and make friends, and help people, and be helped, and have fun and enjoy myself slowly capping all 4 classes over a year or so ready for the next raise, which is what i'm planning to do :>
