It's not leet speak or chat speak that'll be the downfall of humanity. But it sure won't help the communication between the human race. It's like going backwards in the evolution chain. We're supposed to be educated, and without presenting yourself in a pristegeous manner, eventually EVERYONE will start talking like pure idiots. No, you are correct. No one can MAKE you do it. But it is also being proven that people who type like that also do not write proper English *needed for jobs* speak proper English *needed for a job* and have lower communication skills. So, what hes saying will make an impact on you one day. *I'm not talking Mc.Donald's, I'm talking about a career.

Yea, it's a shame, I don't laugh anymore, I simply smile and say three letters....LOL.
Just kidding, but really it seems to me that things like LOL, STFU, LMAO etc. actually in some ways bridge a communication gap...just a thought.
Speak however you want, if we all spoke the same, the world would be a very dull and predictable place. Besides the human race is a bit too big for it's britches anyway, if we can thin the population by typing incorrectly, EyE sEy goW fEr EEt!
