Hwello Fiestians, This is the third run of a player sponsored event that is open to all four servers where both models and voters alike are potential winners. (please note the sparkcash are redeemed via a prepaid card code, where the sponsor will never request or need your real life info, account info and password).

The primary purpose of such this month long event is for contestants to have some fun showing off their screenie skills while at the same time let the neighbors from other servers to get to know each other better in order to create a better sense of community. Not to mention being rewarded for your hard work and creativity ^^.


So what's New with Cycle 3 of Top Model?

1. Currently Cycle 2 Top model finalists Applepod, Naomi89, and Celtic_Princess will act as guest judges and co-hosts for the first round of eliminations. Each of them are previous models with their own unique ways of judging special qualities in our contestants to move on to the next round.

2. Week 1: First 25 qualified contestants accepted through this recruiting thread will advance through to the first round where the judges will will determine the top 10 most determined and talented models to move onto round 2. Highest scoring model decided by the judges for this round will receive a gift prize gift from the sponsor.

3. Week 2 (Quarterfinals): The polls will be officially created to accept player votes for only the top 5/10 models will move onto Week 3. Highest vote getter for this round will receive a surprise gift from the sponsor. Ties between two or more models will be decided by the judges

4. Week 3 (Semifinals): The player polls will decide which top 3/5+ models will move onto the next week of the competition. All semifinalists will receive a special gift from the sponsor as it requires a complete makeover that's related to week 3 of the competition.

5. Week 4 (Finals): The finalists not only wins sparkcash prizes but there is an awesome surprise mystery gift to be revealed only to the finalists! The finalists may finally know what's the "secret" behind the success of Rin's Secret Catalog yay!! ^^;;

6. Introducing the S.T.A.R. system! It's awesome information that will benefit all those who takes the time and effort to understand it (More detailed info released next week).

The same quality contest you come to expect from top model such as:


1. Greater interactivity as I will work closely with the guest judges and all of them will have opportunities to put in their opinions on what criteria to best measure a top model. Basically each judge will have the chance to select a challenge question for the contestants to answer.

2. Greater prizes as the top three finalists will all receive rewards, as well as random lucky voters (reminder, every vote in each poll gives you a randomly assigned raffle number to win a prize just like the models themselves so stay tuned!).

3. Greater and more innovative security measures are implemented to ensure the poll results are as accurate as humanly possible (I will explain the changes when the event begins). Santa Ah_Rin knows when a child is naughty or nice, It is only a matter of time hee hee hee. Please realize that this is not a popularity contest, only one vote per real life person, multiple account voting will face disqualification from the player's raffle prize as well as put the model you are supporting under suspicion and possible disqualification also. I can and will manually adjust poll results from dishonest practices.

4. Greater empowerment of the players as this contest is also a way to reward those who will learn to articulate their virtues as opposed to pointing out other people's faults. Yes, I do understand people like to flame others and point out their faults, while this may influence me not to chose the person you are flaming but it also hurts the flamer as it puts your own integrity into question as you need to put down others to make yourself look better.


Rules for Submissions for entry: (Very Important)

1. The contest is open to both genders and I do not require the use of Fiesta Store items for entry. The first 25 submissions that follows the guidelines I posted on this thread or submitted to me via private message if you are shy will be accepted for the contest ^^. Even former contestants who entered during cycle 1 or cycle 2 who did not make it to the finals for whatever reason can get a second chance and try again!

2. Write a brief introduction of your name and server. Then you must answer the question on why should you be selected as Fiesta's Next Top Model in one paragraph (At least three sentences long).

3. Turn off the interface (this is the heads up display on your screen).

4. Turn off the glow! (i know it's kinda cool looking, but i can fairly easily emulate this with photoshop if that's the look i wanted. however, it's nearly impossible for me to do the reverse and get a clear screenshot out of something fuzzy)

5. Turn off all other graphical options (no hp/sp bars, names, mob names, drop names, no chat bubbles, etc.).

6. Move everything you can't turn off off the screen (KQ Timer/hearts, system message box, if you're in a Party, ban yourself from it)

7. The screenshot should tell a story.

8. This is a mixed costumes event so you may mix and match any costume part you wish, as I am not only looking for a good sense of style but also the ability to articulate yourself in writing.

9. No editing of the screen shots with programs like photoshop/MSpaint/etc. and maximum size limit for every screen shot is set at 640x480 pixels to fit on the message boards.

10. Originally I wrote on the first rule that I accept 25 official entries so why did I list 26? Well I did not realize how quickly I was receiving requests for entries through this thread and through private messaging entries, so I my apologies for this slight change. Since the last entries was posted to me very close to each other time wise before I have a chance to announce recruitment stage is over, I will add in one extra contestant.

11. Wildcard list is a list of people who still wished to join this competition but did not file in their application before the first 26. Being on this list does not guarantee you may have a chance to join the competition officially from week 1. But if for some reason any of the official model can not continue on this competition for whatever reason, I will look at the list of alternates and choose them to run in the competition in the order received ^^. Deadline for any wildcard submissions is June 8, 2009 7PM Pacific Standard Time.

In response to the question, of why I think that I should be Fiesta's next top Model, I would have to say that I think of myself as a good role Model. I am Festive as well as a happy go-lucky person and I love to share my peppy attitude with others. I do my best to help those who are in need and I do so whole heartily. I may not be one of the higher levels, but I rather spend my time helping someone than ignoring them. In short, Fiesta's next top model is more than just a beauty pageant in my eyes, it is also a judge of character, and character is something I pride myself in having.

In response to Rin's question I believe I believe I should be selected because I'm a generally caring person to the point of If your nice to me I'm nice to me as many people on epith and Pennsylvania can vouch for. Also I would not say I have a eye for color like rin but I do have a general sense of style as well as what works with a picture mood, theme, occasion. I'm also a very dedicated person to what i set my mind to. I have good grades, my life is perfectly managed, and for final proof I've put forward the effort of playing fiesta to a decent level so there has to be some commitment in me somewhere.My final reason that I believe that I should be selected is because you don't have enough male models up there so one of us has to stand up and stand up for the men ^.^

I have many friends on Epith, and any would endorse me on the 3 areas I've stated above. ^^ I've been playing Fiesta since September, originally as Yucina, so I've been around the block a time or two. I'd really like to win something I enter for once. I put 110% always, and this will be no exception. <3 Most people that you'll run across will say I give positive vibes. Hello all, I'm Athemis of Bijou, the little nublet archer that can be seen running around Elderine when she really should be grinding, farming, and leveling. I spend most of my Fiesta time just chill-axing, because I enjoy hanging out with my good friends instead of getting into the redundant questing to work my way up into the higher levels. It has come to a point where everyone has practically out-leveled me, and they end up offering me power levels out of pity. (Which, I embarrassingly refuse). All I can say is that I embrace the real essence of Fiesta-I just wanna have fun. Isya is my playground, and I'm going to party hardy for as long as I can. The reason believe I should be the next top model is because I want to be an icon for what Fiesta stands for: friendship, fun, and to know it's ok that there is a little nub in everyone. I also want to represent a group that is rarely recognized among the prestige class in Fiesta: The cashless. In total, I have spent sparkcash only for my signature purple hair, and I am tempted to spend not a penny more. It is high time we cashless rise up against the barriers of the Fiesta Store and prove that we, as a matter of fact, CAN walk down the same path as any other player! No matter how hard we grind, or how long it takes, or how much my squishiness has served as pk meat in the abyss, we will get there! WE WILL SURVIVE!!~ (koff)

The screenshot is a few newbie gear that I picked up. I thought it would be fun to show off some old familiar gears, while doing the famous archer dance. My theme is that no matter how high leveled you become, or how much gold you rack up, there is still a bit of nub in everyone. We all make mistakes sometimes, but it is no biggie because we are all still learning. Just let it all go. That's the reason behind the lopsided cut for my screenshot (yes, it was intentional!). That, and as a first timer in this contest, I feel like I'm going up against some of the best-dressed and most experienced players of all time. So I'll keep my head tilted low and rely on my cute innocent archer look to get me through. How can you say no to my face?~

Well, just be yourself since we want to know what you think is really fun, cool, nice about yourself when you play Fiesta.

The recruiting period will be closed as soon as I received the first 25 submissions that follows the standard guidelines I listed on the Original Posting. Right now I have received 7/25 official submissions ^^. But if for some reason I do not get 25 submission before 1 week, I will start the contest regardless. Good luck and have fun ^^.

PS. I like to think and feel that people have the high capacity for forgiveness of mistakes we can and will make. It came to my attention that inevitably there are people who will come to dislike particular models based on their own previous experiences. I think I should be selected for Top Model 3 because I have the passion for modeling. I've always wanted to do modeling in rl and as well in game. Whenever I take screenshots, they come out fantastic. My character, Magi_Cross, has a face of beauty. Blue eyes and nice shaped head is where it is at. <3

Well now, there's some loaded questions....

My characters name is Bobbi, and my home is on Cypion :>
I did used to play on Epith as Bobbiness/BobbiHood though, for those that knew me there, but i ended up deleting all my epith characters, and am now starting afresh over on Cypion :>

Now, brief paragraph eh? I'll try :> kinda famous for ' :> ' and making my posts into short novels, and in game, i like to think i'm a generous giving person, who likes and enjoys helping people (hence main always being a cleric, lols). Many people, i know, only really knew me because i kept the scroll and pot prices low by not being too greedy, or for the amount of money i poured into my guilds academy, or how many helgaits were given away, and those that were sold practically given away - i like to think i left a nice legacy back on Epith, and i'm enjoying chatting with my old friends, and lots of new friends, hoping to be as helpful and 'cheap' as ever on Cypion (did i say Cypion enough times yet).

It's a second paragraph, but it needed it, lols - as to why i should be chosen - in all honesty, i'm not very good at the 'self praise' thing, so i would never choose me, but more than one person actually contacted directly telling me that i should enter, and as much as i'd love for everyone else to give their reasons why i would win, i know i can't, so hopefully you'll just like me :>

Why do I wanna give this a shot? Because I want to have some fun and engage with an awesome community activity! I'm a regular 'buff bot' in Eldy and love giving random buffs, as well as helping out people shouting questions. People crack me up, and I have an absolute blast playing this game with my mates, new and old. I've never really gone into comps like this before, but figured what the heck eh? Everyone deserves a fair go. Oh yeah, and I like dropping Aussie lingo in whenever I can :D

Hey there, TheDarkGuardian is my character's name. TheDarkGuardian lives peacefully in Epith.

Why should I be selected to become the Fiesta's Next Top Model 3, you ask? I can be a great role model to our fellow Isya-ians. I'm the type of guy who always thinks of the "well on the bright side" concept. I'm a really optimistic, and I try my best to make people laugh, even if the jokes are extremely lame. I'm always there to lend a hand, but also I love having a good time and never the opposite. Fiesta's Next Top Model 3 should have these types of qualities. Who would want one who's boring and dull? The next top model should be someone like me, someone who's never too scared to take a chance in the unchanced?... Lol (: I took this screenie in Elderine, one of my favorite towns to chat to people through shout!

Good morning, one and all, I am MiniAi (most may know me as PrincessAi) and i am from the lovely server called Bijou.

It might be kind of hard to sum up myself into one paragraph but i'll try.

I have always been a very trustworthy and caring person, I am there for my friends and i care about everyone i meet. I like to show people that they are special and i love to make people happy. I like to support people in whatever they do, and they always know that i will always have their backs. I consider myself a good role model to some and some have been good role models to me. I also love challenges, which i know this competition will be a big one. When i'm not killing the pesky Fire- Nixes, i like to sit in a nice flower patch and listen to the water as it falls off the cliff. Hi everyone!

My main character's name is Ginchiyo, shortened to Gin by most people, and I'm from the loud and proud server of Bijou!

Why do I think I should be selected for Top Model 3? Oh dear, what a question... Well first off, I love taking screenies. I don't really post them around much, but I've got so many saved in my screenies folder that it's eating too much memory on my computer. @@ So here is one of my many screenshots! It's not really that flashy, but it's one of my more recent ones that I took in Alberstol Ruins which I've been haunting for the past few weeks since the cap got raised to 105. :p (Three more levels to go!)

As well as always taking screenies, I try to make it a habit of always helping people where I can. I'm always trying to buff people that run past me, even shouting for them to come back if they ran away too fast! xD I'm not gonna lie and say I'm always cheerful and helpful, but I'd like to think I recover well from feeling down and I try to look on the bright side of life no matter what happens. I always make sure I try my hardest in everything I do and I'm always striving to achieve the goals I set myself.

Upon entering the blistering heat of Burning Rock blissfully unaware of the potential dangers, Yuffie was immeadiately chased by unknown predators she had never encounted before. The initial shock of this provoked Yuffie to flee, however she specialised in combat even while running. Hai there ~ I'm Yuffie_Mikato and I've been with epith for over a year now ^^.

I like to think of myself as being relatively friendly to everyone as long as they're also nice, I never like to judge people based on their characters, I prefer to get to know them for their individual personalities. I always try to look on the brighter side of things and normally always have a smile, I love hanging around in towns and free battle zones when I'm not training, basically relaxing and enjoying talking to my friends or people I haven't met before. When not playing fiesta I like to show my creative side by experimenting with PhotoShop, I used to have a siggy shop open where I like to think I made a few good siggies for people.

I guess I'd like to be chosen for Top Model 3 because I want Isyan World Peace j/k xD. Seriously I think it would be a great opportunity to participate in this event ~ n_n

Hiya guys! I’m the ever friendly GoddessIsis from Epith :-).
There are a few reasons I’d love to be part of FNTM, one of course being I’m a fan. As anyone can see from my number of posts I’m not on forums nearly as much as in game, but FNTM is one I definitely keep up with ;-). I never play fiesta without Blessings of Teva and therefore I’m able to take screenies hugging a phouch or dancing in front of the temple of spirit just for fun. My style of screenshots are pretty, random/odd, or funny. A great example of that is my forum siggy. Strange yet laughworthy. Hehe. My screenies are pretty indicative of my personality. I don’t like fighting and drama. When people shout angrily at each other in game I’m usually the one changing the subject with something random and deserving of the o.O face. I prefer making people laugh and like to see the positive aspects of the game: friendship, teamwork, unique maps, and not just focus on the negative guild drama or lag etc. Sometimes it’s nice to just relax in Ox Field or secret spots in Ancient Elven Woods just chatting and enjoying the company of other players. Every good contestant needs to have the obvious flair for screenshot storytelling but also be the kind of person Fiestans can be proud of having represent the community. I’m creative, affectionate, helpful, honest, dependable, and overall someone others want to be around and hopefully what FNTM is looking for.

rules for submissions for entry: (very important)

1. The contest is open to both genders and i do not require the use of fiesta store items for entry. The first 25 submissions that follows the guidelines i posted on this thread or submitted to me via private message if you are shy will be accepted for the contest ^^. Even former contestants who entered during cycle 1 or cycle 2 who did not make it to the finals for whatever reason can get a second chance and try again!

2. Write a brief introduction of your name and server. Then you must answer the question on why should you be selected as fiesta's next top model in one paragraph (at least three sentences long).

3. Turn off the interface (this is the heads up display on your screen).

4. Turn off the glow! (i know it's kinda cool looking, but i can fairly easily emulate this with photoshop if that's the look i wanted. However, it's nearly impossible for me to do the reverse and get a clear screenshot out of something fuzzy)

5. Turn off all other graphical options (no hp/sp bars, names, mob names, drop names, no chat bubbles, etc.).

6. Move everything you can't turn off off the screen (kq timer/hearts, system message box, if you're in a party, ban yourself from it)

7. The screenshot should tell a story.

8. This is a mixed costumes event so you may mix and match any costume part you wish, as i am not only looking for a good sense of style but also the ability to articulate yourself in writing.

9. No editing of the screen shots with programs like photoshop/mspaint/etc. And maximum size limit for every screen shot is set at 640x480 pixels to fit on the message boards.


I received some inquiries via PM on how to enter into this contest but did not know how to send in an application or requesting me to reserve a space for them. I would like to reserve spots for interested models but unfortunately for fairness sakes its first come, first served on those who sent in proper applications.

Please follow the rules and guidelines I quoted above from the OP. Please use the example I made on post #2 to give you any idea what I would accept as a proper entry.

There are a lot of wonderful and creative screenies submitted, I think it will be difficult for the judges to pick 10 winners right away.

So make sure at least follow the rules I set out for all submissions as little mistakes like wrong screen shot size, interface pop ups, glow effect may make the difference between moving onto the next round or not ^^.

This is the recruiting stage so do not be afraid to make mistakes models, as the recruiting screenies + question response is not being judged. When I have received 25 official applications I will request this thread close and create a new thread with new challenge question + screenie. Usually I set a deadline for all models, Every model have a set time limit to send me their homework through PM.

When the time is up to receive any last minute changes or submissions for every model through PM, I will create a new top model thread and post all the models responses within an hour or two.
Reasons why I wait until the deadline to post all the submissions at once as opposed to posting it piecemeal because:

1. There is always a chance two or more models would post very similar response and or screenies. If the only person who have seen the submissions is myself and the model who sent in their own submissions, I know there is very little possibility of plagurism (Copying other people's work and claiming the work as your own).

2. It helps reduce the impulse to change your submission because some people who have great ideas for a screen shot totally changes his/her mind to a not so great screen shot because someone else have a similar idea. It's a basic fear of being looked down upon by peers if they by coincidence have a very similar submission to his/her competition.

3. It helps to give all models an equal chance to being presented to the audience all at once. As opposed to models A, B, C posted first. Early fans saw only their submissions, made their vote without giving a chance to check out models D, E, F because D, E, F did not post their submissions right away.

_CareBear_ is one the the finalists for Cycle 1 of top model. He actually have some of the most creative if not unique screen shots in the first cycle ^^.

I am working on the possibility for Cycle 1 finalists to help me out with Top Model 3 during the last week of the competition for some special judging. It will take about one to two weeks before I create any definite plans on paper and contact you through PM if you interested in helping out for top model 3.

As always all special judges will be rewarded for their volunteer help. Isn't it great to be a finalists for top model? Not only do finalist win a reward but they get an opportunity to judge on the next cycle and get rewarded again lol.

I don't usually participate in events like this one because I don't seem to do well in popularity contests (Or I'm too lazy to take a screenshot, etc) but when you mentioned it wasn't a popularity contest, I suddenly felt like doing it; if only to show some of the other people who aren't massively popular that they can be recognized for who they are too.

I'm kind of wary of what I say here, I don't want to sound like I'm sucking up or trying to pull a pity-party move...wait...that would count as one wouldn't it?...Dang. :S Anyway, I might not act like it sometimes, but I love to help people and be a motivator. If someone thinks they're too low level to join a guild, I'll be the person who adds them and gets them into the conversation. I don't like people who are prejudice because of a person's level or reputation.

So, in essence, I'm participating because I don't believe I'm that popular, and I want to show people that that doesn't matter. I'm hoping that more people who aren't recognized serverwide will try too.

Our judges come from different backgrounds with different ideas on funny or not funny, but I could picture some of the judges getting a chuckle of of that type of screenies ^^.

There is a lot of room for people to get creative on whether something is fashionable or not. It's not for me to judge whether something looks good or not for this competition. By the Way funny entries can go at least into the finals of top model like DF001 did with some quirky entries, if the funny contestant is consistent and tries super hard to articulate him/herself in a clean and concise way that the general Fiestian would also find it funny without them being offended in the process. It's almost like Modern Art, you either get it and like it or do not understand it and don't like it, it's still art ^^.

The submission guidelines I set out requires at least a posted screen shot of their own character and answer the same question posed to every top model candidate will be entered into this competition as a first come first served basis. This competition is a bit hard but the rewards are awesome. I will try my best to perhaps teach show the contestants something cool you can use irl to your benefit besides the obvious sc rewards ingame.

As a result, I do expect all candidates to at put in some effort in following my guidelines for submissions. This proves me that the candidates are ready to play for real, ready to rock, ready to win. They give me 100% and I will give back 110%. The more excited a contestant is, I get more excited for them as well ^^.

Even for those who's not very skilled in this type of competition, I will try my best to mentor them and give them the self extra boost in self confidence so they may improve on themselves in game and irl. I believe that anyone who enters this competition and even if they did not win but they improved themselves just a tiny itsy little bit is a winner in my mind ^^.

Hey Peoples! I'm Lorlie, I reside happily in Teva with all my friends and my guild family.

I'd love to be chosen as Fiesta's Next Top Model because I think I'm just a fun person.

Well sure, I have my flaws, I tend to sometimes get frustrated if people do something that keeps me from my goals, but I usually am very understanding. I try to always have fun and bring a smile to everyone Else's face, whether that means making an amusing, or more likely sort of amusing, comment, or just making a fool of myself, I'll be there to do it.

I'm also at least attempting to participate, because I hope that I'll make a few new friends as I go through this contest. Even if I don't win, I'll consider it a triumph if I find a nice person I haven't talked to yet.

I think I would make a great Fiesta's NTM because above all, I love Fiesta!! I've met a lot of really great people and have made a lot of really good friends along the way. It's always been my nature to help others and it's no different here. I'm always willing to help someone, whether they're just starting or not.. Lol, it's probably the reason why I'm most drawn to being a cleric but I love all the classes because they each offer their own qualities to help each other out. Upon looking at the player inspired promotion video for Top Model 3, they missed you. I received PMs from Magi_Cross on this surprise video on wanting to put every model for her own project prior to her posting it. Must be human error when she missed you so please forgive for the mistake.

I will make sure all models gets same amount of exposure time on the official threads.

At least this is only the recruitment thread and no actual judging of any models applications. This is probably be the best time to make any mistakes as it won't affect your ability to move onto the next round ^^.

When the recruiting period is over by June 9, 2009 at 7PM PST. I will close this thread and create a new thread with the actual challenge question + screenie posed to all contestants. This will give every contestant about one real life week to answer their challenge questions. Off course all entries are to be sent to my PM box to be saved until deadline. It's somewhat complicated but I will explain in full detail to those who's interested tomorrow ^^.

It have come to my attention several times if cash shop item is required to participate and continue on in this competition. The answer is there is no requirement for using sparkcash for be in Top Model. For example, _CareBear_ for cycle 1 placed second place overall and he did not use any sparkcash costumes during the competition.

If there is any challenge question which may require the use of sparkcash, I the sponsor will provide them for all qualifying contestants in order to answer a challenge question I have chosen with suggestions posed by the special judges themselves.

I am in the process of writing up critiques for every official entry in this thread through PM only. Basic short explanation on overall quality of screenshot and how well they articulated themselves. I will point on issues that other judges may notice so you may have a chance to correct them if you wish. This is pretty much the last activity on the forum I will done tonight ^^.

In the meantime I created this guide during Cycle 2 of Top Model to give them some ideas on improving their screen shot taking skills.

The visual art is a very difficult subject matter to asses since their are so many subjective descriptions. I will list 4 basic quantifiable qualities in a screen shot which an excellent screen shot should at least contain 3 out 4 possible qualities.

1. Color composition: This is each individuals use of colors to basically bring more attention to their in game avatars. No matter how beautiful the background or impression the visual effects, it means nothing if the model is not the central focal point in the screen shot. Below is a copy of my color theory guide on how colors are used to bring more attention to the model.

Dear Top Model contestants,
I have been approached and requested help a couple of times on what exactly makes a good screen shot? Is it the costume? Is it the pose? Subject matter? etc. I went through giving them my advice and uploaded screenies as examples but since I am a lazy person at heart and would not like to repeat myself many times over I decided to make a mini guide to give insight to the less experienced screen shot photographers.
What is color studies? If you are involved in the creation or design of visual documents, an understanding of color will help when incorporating it into your own designs. Choices regarding color often seem rather magical, as many seem to base decisions on nothing other than "it looks right." I have been told that I take good looking screen shots and I have great skills with it, but I feel that it is not my skill at capturing an image at just the right time but rather understanding how each color interact with each other.
This is only the basic information with some screen shots and not a term paper, I know I can go into much more detail but I can end up maxing out 10 pages of every post and still not be done lol.

1. Color wheel: This is the visual representation of the colors who perceive with the naked eye ie Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Violet aka ROYGBV.

2. Primary colors: These are the three colors that can not be made when you mix other colors together and they are Red, Yellow, and Blue.

3. Secondary colors: These are the colors that are created when you mix two primary colors together for example, if you mix red and yellow you get orange color. So the secondary colors are Orange, Green, and Violet.

4. Complementary colors: These are the colors located opposite each other from the color wheel. For example Red and Green are complementary colors. While Blue and Orange/ Yellow and Violet are other complementary color sets.

So what is the point in going over this lesson? The main reason is that colors will appear different visually when placed next to another color. For example if you want a red apple to blend in unnoticed in the background, place it next to a secondary color of red which are either orange or violet since they both require red to make those secondary colors it will blend in better.
If you wish to make the red apple stand out without adding a lot of white highlights you could simply place the apple next to a green color cloth and it red apple will appear more vibrant and jump out visually.

All my screen shots tell a story which is only one element of taking a screen shot. I will provide examples of screen shots making the use of complimentary color effects to make it more visually appealing. It is not so much the costume you are wearing but rather the color of your costume and the background you decide to use.

Example 1A: Crazy lady Rin standing guard over her flower garden from would be noob flower poochers while wearing a red winter coat on a warm sunny day. Did you notice how my red winter coat just screams out gimme attention which is the whole point since she is acting like a guard dog among the green fields and trees in the background.

Example 1B: Oh No! A fellow Fiestian is so distraught over glitches in Fiesta he decided to take his life by jumping over a bridge! Help! Help! [GM]Kenny! This man's drowning! Although Rin is still wearing a red winter jacket that stood out prominently and the picture is funny as well as a beautiful background on the beach but since the background are primary yellow on the ground and blue on the sky, the red jacket does not stand out so much, the color looked more dull even in Sand Beach where it is super light background. As a result more attention is usually focused on the jumper and not the model in the center which is what you do not want.

Example 2A: The number one reason why I dislike camping, it is all those hairy creepy crawlers that sneak up on you eekKK! Although this picture is rather dark You do notice that the big hairy light color green spider does not stand out as much as the model wearing a dull navy blue sailor suit which clashed against the orange color of the camp fire and the boulders in the background. So you attention is focused initially to the frightened model due to the use of blue-orange complimentary colors.

Example 2B: Ah it's so peaceful going stargazing at night... that's usually what happens if you are the only member in the Astronomy club lol. This screen shot have a wonderful atmosphere of blue-green starry night in a dark forest. Although the model is bathed in plenty of light, the fact that there is so much predominantly green color in this screen shot that even a very deep blue color bathed in moonlight seems receded. What stands out like crazy is the red colored ribbon against the green colored background. It is a nice screen shot telling a nice peaceful moment but from a quick glance most viewers would go right for the red ribbon. You really don't want people to stare at the ribbon on your chest unless they are perverts to begin with.

Example 3A: When the last rays of the sun leaves the moonlight tomb, all sorts of unspoken evil awakens and preys on all those foolish noobs who dares to trespass on their ancient domain... RAWR! This screenie shows that even with simple noob clothes that great screen shots can be achieved if you can make the up a creative story. The slight yellowish tinge in predominantly violet colored sky along with the bright yellow clothes makes the model stand out like a sore thumb and you could almost feel a voyeuristic view as the model appears to be watched by an evil entity.

Example 3B: A great day at the beach while making my mega sand castle. This is a very clear and nice screen shot of the model with a nice atmosphere. The only issue is that although it is a nice screen shot. The majority of the background and the sandcastle itself are yellow in color, add in the yellow archer noob clothes then the screenie looks off because of too much yellow. Not enough contrast between the colors may make the model blend in too much like you are hiding. Unless the model is really a secret agent, you do not want to blend in but rather you want to stand out and get noticed.

In conclusion I hope I showed some detailed examples on why the colors your are wearing and the colors of your environment may help enhance your screen shot beyond just the story it is telling. If you are still skeptical. These are two last screenies, same poses, sames costumes, only difference is my changing the angle of the screen shot to get a color change in the atmosphere and you can tell which screen shot is more appealing.

Lots of blue colored costumes and background with a little pinkish sky so the models look two dimensional and flat.

The sky turned a orange color and complimented the blue costumes so the models stand out much more and look more three dimensional.

2. Storyline: This is based on the ink blot test, where people look at a random ink smudge on a piece of paper and give them personal perception on what it looks like to them. Your screen shot should tell the story, not the words itself. For example in my color studies guide, the screenies from Example 1 A and 2 A. If I did not use any words to describe Example 1 A would can anyone even guess that Rin is guarding her flowers from pouchers? Now, if you used Example 2A it very easy to pick up a story of a girl who got scared by that big icky bug crawling up to her.

3. Originality/Creativity: This is basically trying to capture a screen shot that is not a traditional screen shot most people have viewed before while still trying to make it aesthetically pleasing. For example, the screen shot in Example 3A is much more original/creative than the screen shot in Example 1A. Example 3 A used foliage to block line of sight, which usually nobody wants in front of the subject matter to create a sense of tension as the viewer is looking through the eyes of someone stalking that noob in Moonlight Tomb. While Example 1A is a pretty picture also but it basically appears like a standard pose with new unique touches that makes it different than other good posing pictures.

4. Difficulty: When a model attempts a screen shot that uses either skill/emote that can not be frozen and flashes by quick or through the use of uncontrollable/dangerous mobs it raises the difficultly level a lot. Basically, any screen shot that is hard to duplicate a second time or by any one else is considered good in the judges eyes. For example an ice skater completing a quadruple lux rotation would naturally have a higher base score than an ice skater who only complete a tirple lux rotation. For example, the screen shot in Example 2A is much more difficult and time consuming to get just right than Example 1A because for a more dramatic effect I have to stay with the camp fire behind me and kill spider after spider for over an hour before one popped right in a spot I could take a good screen shot before it moves off again on its own. While Example 1A I could easily duplicate again since their is no special timing or uncontrollable mobs involved.

Hmmm, I guess I always try to be someone who's helpful and honest, maybe even too honest sometimes, but that's just me ^^''. Anyways I definately try to be the kind of person (in-game and in real life) that could be looked up to, even though I don't intend to actually be looked up to... does that make sense? What I mean is I try to be a good person for the right reasons and I hope other people would be the same way. I try to see the best in people, no matter who they are and I hope I can be viewed in a good light when others look at me, so that's what I try to be.

Hmm... well this competition is done on a volunteer basis. There are many reasons why people can not continue on with this competition, I understand that people's real issues do take priority over Fiesta. Regardless of who leaves the competition the contest goes on with or without them.

As a result there are instance where an eliminated model still turns in next week's assignment for a small chance to gets a second chance when someone who qualified can not continue on for whatever reason.

If someone is persistent on turning in the work even if they know they are unlikely to continue on, if a spot ever gets open because someone quits. I would give that model to continue one because that's the type of person that will get far in the competition because they never quit.

After sending out critiques to every contestant official and wildcards, I been asked this question by some models, "Do you want me to change my screenie and response based on your recommendations?"

My response is:

There is no need to fix the application entry because its not being judged. I am just giving a private lesson on ways you can improve yourself.

I want everyone to have a fair chance to make it to the next round. I critique everyone in private so they may not feel embarrassed or singled out as an example.

This way everyone have a chance to fix their mistakes on the actual competition and give the judges a real hard time to choosing who's going on to the next round ^^.

- On a final note, I will start setting up the new and official contest thread, request the a community leader to close this thread when the deadline is over for last minute wildcard submissions ^^.
