View Full Version : Can you say irony?

This is a story of irony and very slim odds, but it just happened to me and a friend about an hour ago. I should mention that we are still good friends after this, I know greed can get in the way of friendship, but it didn't this time.

So, a friend and I are grinding in level 70 abyss (we both are level 74). I'm a mage and he's a tank fighter. After about 30 minutes of mobbing in the Spade room, a green level 66 hat drops. He gets it (it's on seq) and I ask if I can have it and what are the stats. It has 30 INT and 30 DEX. I ask if I could have it again and he says he needs money and wants to sell it. After a few minutes I'm angry and offering 75s (max) for it. Then I drop the topic for a while. (I was on the verge of showing him what almost 1.6k mdmg can do to a fighter with 400~500 mdef lol)

I try explaining that it is common courtosy to give a person of a certain class in your party any greens that drop and are their class. I can't get him to give or sell me the hat.

So I dropped the topic for about 5 minutes thinking about what to do. Then I had a nonviolent idea of what I could do. After a few mobs I say, "Holy *****" (excuse my language lol). He's curious and asks what happened. I lie to him and tell him a level 80 fighter top with 39 end and 27 str just dropped. (one didn't actually drop) So then I keep him begging me and willing to trade the hat for a good few minutes.

Then I tell him I lied and that I was teaching him a lesson of how you should give people in your party greens of their class unless they don't want them. He sighed in relief and told me how angry he had gotten. I tell him I had felt the exact same. So we laughed it off and continued grinding. (I had my fun and didn't want the hat anymore XD)

So in about 8 minutes, a level 80 fighter top drops and I get it. We were both laughing and wondering what are the odds. I didn't tell him specific stats, I just told him that he'd be better off with a +9 blood top (he already has the boots and pants +9). I also told him that the stats aren't uber-godly, so he's fine with it and we're both laughing at the irony of it.

We leave abyss later, and he sells the hat for 600s, and I have my lvl 80 fighter armor. I tell him I intend on +9ing it in the future for my fighter since the stats are decent and I'd rather pay real money and a few hundred silver enhancing it instead of 15g+ for some +9 armor that isn't too much better.

We both laughed so much how I had lied about getting godly lvl 80 armor and then later some dropped. (btw the armor has 31 str, 32 end, and 7 spr lol)

He learned a valuable lesson I think and had some good laughs. We were for sure angry at each other for a few minutes when I lied, but it turned out well in the end.

Anyone else have something this ironic happen to them? XD

*Says Ironic* http://www.anikaos.com/040-onion_msn_smilies/onion_msn_smilies/onion_msn_smilies-01.gif

But usually I actually call mage gears when a party and I go out grinding http://www.anikaos.com/040-onion_msn_smilies/cebollita_animated_onion/cebollita_animated_onion-19.gif

Unless...I'm not the only mage...
Because if that did happen, we would fight to the death for a godly gear http://www.anikaos.com/040-onion_msn_smilies/onion_gifs_emoticons/onion_gifs_emoticons-02.gif

I lied to him about godly armor dropping and then it does drop and I get it (with slightly worse stats for a tank). It was very ironic.

I now know to call all mage gear, but I've always been in parties where it's expected for you to fork a drop over to another class if it's for their class. It's just manners lol.

I like the picture in your sig Dark. :)

16k mdmg on a lvl74 mage really was the ironic part of the story right ? :P

>< I guess Mewaki is the only one who sees it.

I have a +9 blue wand and int gears, with no buff or anything I have less than 600 def and a tad over 2100 HP, I'm a squishy mage. 158X mdmg isn't that hard. WHOOPS, lol, I meant 1.6k. ~edits first post~

Having that much mdmg would be incredible. lol

This is as simple as it gets: I lie about godly armor dropping and a few minutes later some good armor of the same level and class drop. My friend and I (and apparently Mewaki too) see the irony in he situation.

uh...

Cant say I've ever been in a party where people actually fought, or cared enough to fight about greens xD

I get it. :-D funny/great story. lol awesome you could teach a lesson. I'm sure at some point I've been in a party where someone else who wasn't a cleric kept the cleric item but I either assumed it wasn't good or it was good and they wanted to be greedy. So then I was greedy and kept all my heals to myself. JK JK! I wouldn't do that. :-D
