Hey guys im Vic ^^ Formerly known as Forb.
anyway, I know there are many experianced signature makers on the fiesta forums, they use software ranging from MS paint all the way to Photoshop - with many inbetween.
The point of my thread is kindof like a noob-FAQ thread.
I have a few questions and im sure many other people have questions as well, with that said - im sure many of you have answers. *pokes*so gimmi!!
jk ^^
But Seriously, Ask your questions/give your answers. But to keep everything organized please title your post: Question: or Answer:
and then use the sign @ and put the persons name you are answering the question for, so everything is organized.
for example, I ask a question:
Question:
What is a Signature?
the person answering would say:
Answer:
@Andrewnester: A signature is a personalized design for the fiesta forums. (or something xD)
idk if there has been one of these, but I think it's really usefull.
TRY TO BE SPECIFIC!

Question:
Well let me explain,
recently my computer broke, so i went out andbought a new laptop - without photoshop *GASP*
and me being the designer for my guild i am like panicing.
So i need some assistance here.
I recently downloaded paint.net which is a great free software program, quit similar to PS actually.
As you can see i made my present siggy with it.Yes i know i forgot to remove character outline xD
anyways, i have a few questions for you Paint.Net users and everyone actually:
1)Wat is a decent site i can download many different text fonts? The ones on PDN(paint.Net) are common and blah. I want something cool and creative.
2.) is there a way to create designs on PDN like a heart? the one i have now was taken from google. yuck. like draw a cool heart and bevel it and such? and is there a way to play with the ancor points on text? make it my own?
3.) ~if there is, how, and such.
4.)PNG is the best thing to save the files as correct?
5.) i am working on guild siggies, similar to ryes for AnkleBreakers, creative text, with the persons desired picture in there. Any recomendations? I dont want it to be the same really, then its like copying - eeew.
Thanks!

For fonts, I myself use dafont.com (http://www.dafont.com/) they have lots of variety and it's easier to find what you want. It also helps that you can preview what your text will look like
And as far as I know, there is no way to draw a good heart, I suggest google it andn then edit it, adding color and such until you get what you want.

ok for the heart. i have an idea and maybe u can roll with it. try useing the line/curve tool on PDN and then start to ease ur way into making the type of heart that u wanted. i think that this should work.

Most likely it would work, but it would be time consuming. just google "heart outlines" or "Heart Clip art" and see what you get.

1. There's a bunch of interesting links for them. Basically I used to just search on google to find them. I'll give you some of the ones I used to use. [ click (http://www.fontsy.com/) ] , [ click (http://www.1001freefonts.com/) ] , [ click (http://www.fontface.com/fonts/) ] , [ click (http://www.fontstock.net/) ]
2. Well let's be honest, PDN isn't the best editing program. You can't expect really wonderful drawing tools so basically when I'm not using my Jasc, I would look up on google or photobucket for hearts. (I usually enter cute hearts into the search.) Hope for some nice looking ones. Something like this:
http://i44.tinypic.com/dvreqa.jpg
[Not the best but eh, not too bad I guess]
3. Same as above I guess.
4. It really depends what you are saving or making. PNG is the best for making images look very crisp and clear.
5. I don't know what those signatures look like so I don't know how to answer this question lol.

ok ive got a question. for PDN i wanted to color something in(the chibi taht was just made for me) and i cant ind the the right tool to use. any suggestions.
Okay, well I decided to make a semi-horrible guide.
1. Well obviously put your image into PND. Start out with the paint brush tool, and go to the color grid [whatever you want to call it] and pick your color.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z57/xabrevax/colorin.png
2. Begin coloring once you choose your color. You should either use the Lasso Select tool or just use the Paint Bucket.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z57/xabrevax/colorin2.png
3. Be creative, once you are done start using the Magic Wand and cut out all of the white background, so you can get a transparent background. (Remember you may have to change the percent of the magic wand so you don't cut out what you need.) Ex:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z57/xabrevax/tolerance.png
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z57/xabrevax/colorin3.png
4. Save your image and remember to make it PNG. Resize if the image is too large as well.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z57/xabrevax/colorin4.png
PS: Sorry to the HelloKitty I destroyed while coloring :<.

It really depends on the program you use.
If you use paint.NET you can use my method.
I feather after I'm done rendering with a true feather. I like to up the feather radius, but not to effect strength as much. With the radius, you get a nice softening at the edges, go more or less as you like.
After I feather, I usually outline it with the softest possible outline, making a sort of shadow around the rendered shape. That can disguise most problems.
But if you don't use paint.NET, I can't help you. Sorry.

Is there a blur tool? There should be brushes like smudge, blur, ect. Just try using the blur feature.

If your OS is not there, go to dafont.com and click where it says other os..
And background.. I usually use gradients, but otherwise Google something. You might get lucky like I did and find a site with a wealth of screen shots from fiesta you might be able to use.

ok i use photoshop cs3 i find easiest way to colour something with a black outline is, select the part what u wish to colour with the magic wand or lasoo tool, then go to selection, modify and expand the selextion slightly by 1 or 2 pixels, then pick the paint bucket, and the color you wish to change it to, but u have to make sure that the blending options of the paint bucket is changed to "Darker Color" that way the colour will be all the way up to the darker colour
hope this helps
