OK so after playing my mage for a while i have come to relize that the tir 1 spells are prolly going to be my sorc of dmg till atleast my 50s

Relizeing this, I find myself asking

INT or SPR

now i just spam these low lvl spells that are very fast,

SO do i want INT to make every one do decent dmg...

Or since they are so fast do i want to do SPR to increase the crits....?

I duno, i seem to be critint a decent amount of the time 1/15 spells or so. and only points in SPR are from items and 5 points from the class skill up.
What do you all think?

Hm. You know what? I'll level with you.

It doesn't much matter.

Y'see, even with all the bonuses of intelligence compared to all the bonuses of spirit, and all the bonuses of mixing the two, the end result is pretty much the same for much of the game. The Intelligence build will maybe kill their target in one fewer hit than their hybrid counterpart, and two fewer than their full spirit buddies. Their spirit-adding pals will periodically have crit. chains that kill an enemy in half the time, and they'll love their ability to tank magic-using mobs. They probably won't even notice that they're using potions slightly more rarely than full intelligence users for a tiny bit more money saved, or that they're fighting fit again a tiny bit quicker. The intelligence mages probably won't even notice that they're using slightly fewer spells to kill an enemy, they're just that cheap.

In the end, they'll all think they're doing pretty okay, and, in fact, they all are running
Once tier 2 and higher skills are improved, and as these characters get to higher levels, then the dynamic will shift, but only slightly, and all these mages, when they play their characters, will still think that they're doing okay. They'll still be doing the most damage of any class, still kill monsters faster than is reasonable, and probably still argue over petite differences in damage, critical hits, magic defence and SP useage, when the majority of their character is defined by their automatic stats, their equipment and their skills.

So, in the end, just pick which appeals to you most, whether it's full intelligence, full spirit or a longer-viewed 25 spirit, the rest intelligence build, you're not really going to notice the difference, because in the end the benefits of the two stats will even out.

I used to think so too, however, if you look at some of the high level spells my mind was sawyed a bit. If int gives a flat bonus to damage, who cares about a few more points when the skill bonus damage is 2000??? But if you crit someone with that kind of damage they will sure the hell notice it.

Int is gonna need a boost if that's what the siutation is. It should not be a falt bonus, it should be percent increase based on the dameg of the spell.

Heh, herein lies the problem.

The damage on your character info screen and the additional damage by the spell are nowhere near as powerful as you think.

People think that as they level, their damage is going skyrocket and skyrocket. Not the case. I continuously hear high-levellers saying their damage doesn't even hit 600. Monster magic defences grow exponentially, to the point where they can withstand a large percentage of your potential attack.

So, yes, 2000 is far, far away.

I'd like to shed some light on this matter as well;

Although there are cases where mages hit less, there are also cases where mages hit MORE. It depends on what monster their facing, and what type of attribute they hold (Summoned, elemental, etc.). So really, it's what you're training/fighting with that determines how much damage you do.
