Theres an interesting situation that I've noticed.
Alot of the mages in the game go around and are concerned with wholly SP related damage dealing.
While it is true that they can deliver a pounding like few others can deliver, especially since their power at certain spells allow them to drop nearly a K worth of pain at one time... theres only one thing that really confuses me.
Maybe I should go back and explain something first. My friend plays a mage, he was on the Mara kingdom quest when he ran out of SP stones, Pots, and couldnt get a chance to rest. So he took up his staff, and beat the pirates for all he was worth. And the funny thing was... He actually was able to deal with them pretty well. Mostly I think thats due to the fact the pirates were attacking the tank instead of him... but he has been the one to tank in previous KQ's for some reason...
What I'm getting at is the basic hand-to-hand damage his staff deals is constant, the lvl 1 staff to the lvl 50 staff, the only difference that is noticable is the MAGIC damage... what i'm getting at is, some mage characters become so convinced that spell slinging is their only good point.
True they start off at a disadvantage, with lower stat scores in most of the fields a Cleric or a Fighter would have excess in... but they should be better equipped with staffs that do battle damage and spell damage. Becuase I've played a mage before, mostly while my friend went off for a while and i swiped his computer... ^^; but its really a pain when your SP goes to pot and you are facing some enemies that. just. wont. stop. chasing you.
anyone else having that problem? anyone want to maybe poke a GM about the idea? better staffs, or atleast a patch to give the existing staffs some battle cred instead of just being fancy looking...?
BattleMages, the other other white meat.
