Seeing as everyone currently playing this game is supposed to be testing it, I thought I’d bring up a couple of threads for people to cast out their thoughts on the game so far – everything from downloading the client to in-game game play to range of monsters, rewards and challenges.

I will open 4 threads. These threads will be level specific and should only hold discussions concerning the game at that particular level. The levels will be:

0-30
31-60
61-80
81-100+

Reviews should be specific yet concise and clear. What I would like to see (that is, what would help me and other like me) is to have player reviews without flaming, spamming, hostilities or aggressive behavior of any sort. Reviews should adhere to the following format: Start with character name, level and class. Discuss client-based issues such as downloads, lag in the game, pixilation issues and other program-specific items. Then discuss character progression, spells and abilities, weapons and other gears, what you would like to see changed and why. Discuss also the range of monsters, drop rates, experience gained, level advancement, quests, etc. Finally, summarize your review – this is where you get to add your personal likes and dislikes, feelings towards the game in its current state and what you hope to see SoS become.

Again, please try to keep your reviews brief yet detailed, and clear of negative or non-constructive talk. There should be no arguing between players although open dialogues are encouraged.

Lastly, see the poll above and vote accordingly, 1-10, 10 being the VERY BEST and 1 being the VERY WORST in regards to your feelings to this game in its current condition. List what you voted and why, and what changes would encourage you to vote more positively in the future.

I would like to state I am not a moderator or affiliated with Secret of the Solstice or OutSpark in any way. I just feel we should be collecting data during this beta test to help shape the game into something we’d all like to play relatively long-term.

Peace.

i voted a 8 cause this is a really good game but also it takes a lot of time to lvl up and i thing that should be a guide that tell you how to get some rare items... its really hard to found it when yuo know where it is, but is hardest when you dont know the place...

There is not enough content in Closed Beta where its enjoyable past lvl 50ish. It becomes more work than play due to the limited areas that are accessible

Ok, it would be unfair if I didn’t write a review as well, so here it is.

System-wise, I have really had few issues creating an account, logging in, etc. I did experience some lag issues but that seems to have resolved itself. The typos riddled throughout the game can be annoying but seeing as this is still in beta, I am assuming if we bring them up to the powers that be, they will be corrected.

The graphics are fine – I am experiencing no glitches and, as long as I keep my graphics card drivers up to date, I doubt I will.

The gameplay is engaging but repetitive. Aside from the occasional and optional side quest or event, SoS seems to be another straightforward hack and slash RPG, which is a disappointment. I would prefer more interaction with the world of Solstice and the background story of the princesses, etc. than we are seeing now. Again, being in beta, this may change.

Character progression, as far as gaining levels, seems to be right on target. Fighting alone I can often gain at least a single level in a few hours and more when with a decent party. 3 hours last night and 2 deaths and I still managed to leave the night with 80% into my next level. However, class progression seems to be stunted to me. I’d prefer to see a more diverse career option earlier on, perhaps by level 30-35 or so, instead of the level 51+ of most classes. I’d also like to personalize my character more so that I can look more individual than any other rogue. The optional scarves, eyeglasses, etc. are nice but in the end I still look like any other rogue. Aloe me to change my hairstyle, hair color, skin tone, face, etc. Even taller, shorter, fatter, thinner would be a nice change than what we have now.

So, in the spirit of brevity, to me this game is above average for a free graphic based MMORPG. I still enjoy it but would definitely like to see some changes made.

FINAL RATING: 6

I agree need more option to personalize.

They need to increase the exp of some monsters drastically...Such as the Mythril Mines monsters. They're about 5 times harder to kill than the monsters in Vargas Forest, yet they give about the same amount of exp. The Witchwood Forest monsters and Salem Forest, and Vargas monsters give about the same amount of exp as well. I could go to Vargas forest and solo for an hour and come back with the same amount as I would in a party in Witchwood, depending on the size of the party and how many people I'm splitting the exp with. What exactly is the point in fighting harder monsters if they give the same reward as the easier monsters? It's kinda' ridiculous, really. If it's based on the items they drop, that's also ridiculous, as you're not out there killing things for the item drops or the money, half the time. My motive is to become a Fellon then an Assassin and a shadow, and I'm sure there are tons of people out there who are also motivated to make strong charectors as well. I don't want the monsters to be harder based on their drops.

I give it a 5/10 mainly because of that. I wouldn't expect there to be too much of a story, or too many maps out just yet since it is still a beta. Please raise the exp accordingly to how difficult the monsters are to kill, please? I can understand certain areas, like low level areas being low exp, as their monsters, Madderrabbi, Crown Slime, High Jelly, Wood Jelly, aren't very far apart in how strong they are. However when you get to these higher level places where you're fighting a green flying hippo fairy that takes maybe 10 seconds to kill to gain .35% then you go to the next map where there's a pink flying hippo fairy that takes 20 seconds to kill just to gain that same .35%--Ridiculous.

Level 45 Predictor (just made it)

For this BETA...

Cons...

SLOW leveling, taking into account that the level you can reach is higher than 100, and i have yet to know the limit.

Monotone.

The job classes are not very unique at all.

1 skill to stunn or slow down and 1 skill to attack, this repeated itself and was tiring.

Very much like Ragnarok in some ways.

Typos (i don't mind them, just pointing them out)

You can't get any "natural" defense at all. (Bug?)

The low defense combined with the killing lags resulted in MANY deaths.

BAD targeting system.

Annoying and meaningless quests.

A rant of mine: I changed to predictor and my MP was cut by half and i got NO HP bonus.

Pros...

The Lucky Balls were a good idea.

Good party system.

___________

Not an original game (well, mmorpgs are far from original nowadays).

Can you enjoy this game? Yes, if you have a party you can have some fun.
If you are by yourself and are a loner (like i tend to) it will bore you. You NEED a party.

My rating for this BETA: 4/10

Even with my rating i gotta say it is OK and i may play again, depending the circumstances.

*cries himself to sleep while saying goodbye to his Predictor*

I gave it a 6.

I think its a good game in general. I particularly liked the warp/return system; some other games make you run all the way back when you die, and I think thats super annoying. I think the tougher monsters should give you more exp. It was really annoying to have to fight 5 monsters in order to gain 1% in an area where the monsters really could kick my ***.

A world map would be a good feature to put in. I've been playing for like 2 weeks and I still don't know where everything is.

This is, overall, quite a good game.

The leveling is slow once you reach a certain point. The only way to get good EXP (once again, to a certain point) is to fight in areas where the names are some shade of red - not pink, red. How fun. And in most situations you can only go there in a party, meaning the EXP is divided up - which is OK seeing as you probably kill twice as much depending on party composition.

Another thing that someone pointed out to me while playing was the strength difference when switching classes. An Archer the same level as a Rogue would have similar to twice the power of the Rogue, and probably get no damage in a battle due to the long-distance attacks. Would this be resolved when the Rogue becomes a Felon? I can't say the same for Acolytes/Predictors because of the fact that their purposes/jobs in the game become considerably different. While the Archer class remains a fighting class, Predictors change to be more neutral in fighting/healing while Acolytes stay a healing class.

The quests were fairly pointless. However entertaining (I find the letters quests absolutely brilliant), pointless. Some gave items, like the Clown Nose and Pinocchio Nose, but most just gave EXP and Kron. Both of which you can easily get out while training. Typos, minor thing, expected since this is beta, and very easy to live with. However, the name typos and mistakes were very confusing when you needed to find someone or something for a quest - saying that one of Jureah's Pendant pieces could be found in a Madderrabbi? Not fun. And more interaction with the whole storyline would be nice.

Another thing that bothered me - buddy list limit. I almost constantly had to delete people off my buddy list (wasn't so hard, seeing as half the people on my buddy list stopped playing, just annoying) if I wanted to add someone new that I'd met. The limit was... what? 30? Even a little bit more than that would be nice.

I really love the idea of Trackers/Warp Scrolls/Return Scrolls. In other MMOS, it is an annoying chore to have to pretty much walk back to wherever you died in order to continue training. Party idea is great, worked out well.

Overall... 7. I really love the game, lots of little things that made it great that I didn't mention seeing as it would turn into rambling.

well, i played not much, i just reach lvl 18.

I have playes so many games (more than 15) , and the games its ok, its fun, not all mmorpgs are really fun like this one, i like it.

My vote is 6/10 (it is good ;) :D )

- this game need a better targeting system.

- a mount system could be verry cool

- like an option, a macro system could be a good idea (could be used to cure all the party and give magic suport for exampl).

- like other ppl say, this game is poor in character creation, need more air styles, air colors, more faces, skin colors, etc...

- the wings are ok, but it could be cool if the were a little bit bigger than that

- skills.... need a lot of them!!! more variavility, i could recomends you (the outspark team) play other games and try to get any good ideas ( the best way somethimes is to copy, like Dante in the hell, he copy the style of his master and mentor Virgilio Aligiery)

-a global map could be a great idea too! :D

-i agree with the others about monsters//XP, need changes.

i know this was just the cloused beta, i hope more of this game in the open beta.
(lol i know my english is bad... but nobody is perfect :p )

I voted 8. I think that there should be more maps and maps that are better for rouges some maps better for magicians some maps for warriors and some for Acolytes. To be specific, maps that make different classes have different advantages. Eg. Slow walking speed monsters makes magicians have advantage. I am quite new so I do not know whether Acolyte's heal can damage undead monsters so I suggest allowing Acolyte's heal damage undead monsters so that Acolytes will have an avantage on them. And maybe making some maps high spawn but lesser exp some maps low spawn but have more exp and high spawn monsters have lower attack but are aggressive so that warriors and rouges have an advantage on them but magicians have an disadvantage of them. At the same time, Acolytes will be very useful in high spawn rate maps. Lower spawn rate maps' monsters should have more attack power but maybe some have lesser moving speed. Then again, Acolytes can be useful in those maps - Help magicians. Then maybe most of the monsters should have elements. Then it MIGHT make the game more interesting;):p:)

Uh... Sorry, I forgot about archers. So maybe archers can have skills that make their arrows have elements just like magicians. I don't know what disadvantages/advantages archers have so I don't really know what to suggest about:p:(

I meant heal damaging undead monsters more than other classes:p

Tee-hee. Sorry, I did not notice there is an "edit" system. Sorry to post so many replies:P(I noticed about 5 minutes after this post)

i voted 7, good game, nice graphics, lots of typos, some glitches, and other unmentionable things. But I think I`ll give it a 9 when OB comes, because they probably fixed everything, and they have a new log-in screen (when i reinstalled SOS)...

I thought this game was awwesome. I only made it to lvl 33 but I did try to solo alot in the red areas with a rogue so i did die alot. Yeah there was some typos but no biggie. As far as the world map goes, i just went out and created my own map. but with lvl2 rapid step and fox tail it was pretty easy to run through the extremely tough areas. cant wait for this game to reopen, been trying other games and nothing is even coming close to keeping my interest like this one.

I'd give it a 9. P":

Even if the game sometimes lag me (When I'm in parties.)... Then the game closes it self all so suddenly...
Being able to talk to people, yet level at the same time is enjoyable.

The leveling is slow though. But heck. Oh well. : <

. _.

The monsters love me. And hurts me in so many ways.
But I love them too? D:

But they really shouldn't mob me. ; ~ ;
It's not nice to me.

I'm being very full of me. . _.

Excuse it.
