In parties, pure STR isn't much different from pure END, save that you need to watch your health more when you draw aggro.
Outside parties, at say level 60 (because it's a nice even number and you have 75 free stat points at this point), you'll find yourself do about 90 more damage per hit than a cleric with no free stat STR and the same equips -against any monster. Free stat STR's bonus damage ignores a monster's defense, so against elites and bosses, it becomes the majority of your damage, while against regular mobs, it's just a boost. You need to keep an eye on your HP a bit more, though, as you're a bit more squishy, but if you know your limits and fight only what you can handle, it shouldn't be a problem.

I can show you some screenshots and damage dealt on monsters if you want. I have a level 70 pure strength cleric. Later though, if no one else posts by then.

I am not mostly str but 25 spr also. However my range on my 89 paladin is 2493~2673, my defense is 1119. After i compared myself to other clerics in my guild I have learned that my minimum damage is close to the max of a cleric with the same weapon (same enhanced too). Defense wise you do have to be more careful but on most things you should be fine just dont draw aggro but that should count for all clerics really.

While in an AoE party on an alt, the only cleric I've ever known to need a cleric was my full-Str pala friend. Outside an AoE party, have at it.

you would get pwned at guild wars/pvp though
edit: unless you have really really good equips

You wouldn't have alot of sp for healing your party members in kqs though. Also, people party clerics for their heals, seeing as how they're the only class that CAN heal.

If you started attacking instead of healing, of course they'd yell at you. You're risking their life by attacking instead of healing them, causing their death.

I don't really think the point of an STR cleric is to deal more damage in parties, but to solo more. The thread creator himself said that he finds himself soloing more. So in parties the main problem would probably be getting killed from taking aggro instead of just plain not healing.

One of the biggest concerns for a STR build Cleric is DEF, the Dmg output is actually very similar to a fighter, without all the skill empowered boosts, of course. The best way to offset the STR build and make up some DEF? Enhanced Armor and Sheild. This makes such a difference that losing the END doesnt matter, so you become not as squishy, really good def(+9 gear w/ end on a Pure STR cleric makes def equal to a full END cleric with un-enhanced gear, seriously) plus the higher DMG is rather good for soloing.

The biggest issue is no AOE until after 3rd job change. So single kills at a time.
