I have seen alot of ''I got hacked'' threads lately. Why would someone use time to hack you, if they are pro enough to hack the best player at Fiesta?
It's as simple as this, someone has stolen the info from you. Or maybe you have given the info to them. i dont know how many times i have seen the, Dont give out your private info to people note. But are people really stupid enough to do it anyway?
If a random dude pops up at your msn and text you a file, like this.
Coolpicture.bat if you press that file and download it you will probably get a trojan or two, and a keylogger. And then you go to OS forum and cry about it?
The fact is, nobody can find your pass if you dont have any thing special like this. ''your name''123, which would be extremely stupid. A password like this + a note with it under your desk wont ever be taken, akd73lx8e. What's better then not knowing the code yourself?
And here's some easy steps to not being hacked
*Dont give out account info to anybody, not even your friends.
*Make your password out of random letters/numbers or something only you know about.
*Never download things you get from fiesta friends, you can make them post it at forum if it's a picture or youtube if its a video.
*Run a antivirus search for keyloggers and other dangerous files atleast twice a week. This can be done while you play but you might lagg a bit
*Dont give out your facebook or any other homepage address to a fiesta player. Also, if you have to add someone at msn, dont give them the one you use for fiesta.
I would also wanna hear your thoughts about a possible new thing.
Needing to write in a different password when you change the password you log in with. It would make it hard for a scammer/hacker to change the password if he/she gets your account information in the first place.
Also a message should be sent to your email address, with a verification after the change.

I really cant believe you, a virus at the forum which you dont need to download. A virus can't just come from nowhere at your computer. You need to download it, or make it. And looking at a picture at OS forum, or watching a video at youtube wont give you a keylogger.
If you got hacked you must have been at a special site(A normal free antivirus would tell you if it finds something dangerous there), or downloaded something with a virus in it.
If someone is pro enough to add a infected cookie at a site like youtube/os, i dont think they would use it that way, and your antivirus would probably scan the site and find it.

To be honest you shouldn't have to do a million scans to protect your account from hackers >.>. There should be something on fiesta to prevent hacking. I once said to someone about having it IP adress registered so that 1 specific IP can access fiesta on that specific account, so when a different IP is used access will be denied to the IP not registered. Thus making it even harder to hack accounts. If you should need to change your IP because of a new router or new computer you should have to go to CSR to verify your existing IP and email and your new IP.

The problem with this is IPs being randomly assigned. Every time my cable modem is rebooted, I get a new IP address. Every time the router is rebooted, new IP address. This would mean that on some semi-rare days, I'd have to contact a CSR to verify an IP 3-6 times. Other times, I could go a month or more. No offense, but- bad idea. Very much so. Just imagine, given the number of players overall, 500+ each needing multiple IP verifications per week, much less per day. "Please bear with us, due to high ticket volume the current CSR ticket turnaround time is 7 months...and growing."

Just throwing in an additional:
I have a laptop and would like to play Fiesta anywhere I can take my lappy. If someone visits a HotSpot and starts an account there, no one else would be able to play Fiesta there.

I still think an IP based recognition system is worth looking into, because its true that certain envirnonmental factors can generate new IP's but usually only the end digits change, with the main part of your IP remaining the same and country / region specific.
For example, say your account is hacked, if the hackers IP is completely different to your registered IP (region specific), for instance your IP is American and the hackers is in the Far East, this should be automatically logged by the system and the account suspended pending verification - this of course should happen at the launcher screen and NOT at character selection or in game.
