Well, I spent about an hour on DGO and hey you know what, it's a pretty good game. Below are things I have observed through playing the game. I might compare DGO a lot to Audition for I am an old-time Audition player.
IGN: RayAnnLeeM - hit me up in-game and lets be friends =D!!
Gameplay
The object of the game is to hit the right arrows at exactly the right time. I noticed that in order to get a high score, you need to really time your press. You can still get a "Perfect" if you just press the arrows a little bit out of tune, but you will receive a little less points that the other players. The difference can be as little as 1 point. Chaining also depends on you not missing. The longer you don't miss, the higher you can chain Perfect. The closest resemblance of this to Audition is Beat Up where you need to press arrows at the right time and you chain by hitting as many moves as possible without missing. Also, another thing that I've observed is that, just because you have a huge lead against our opponents doesn't mean that you can rest. Missing doesn't just mean that you don't get the point, you also LOSE the points you've already accumulated. That's right, missing makes the points that you have go down, making it important that you keep playing and keep your focus during a game. Another thing I've noticed is that the arrows shown on your bar depends on your gameplay. The more skilled you are, the less you can miss; and the less you miss, the harder the moves become because of additional arrows. In Audition terms, it's like Freestyle battle. If you don't miss, you can do higher level moves. If you miss however, you go back to lvl6 or lvl1. One big difference between DGO and Audi is that I haven't seen any "chance" buttons here. You just have to rely on your eyes and rhythmic skills to win. No tricks.
The paragraph above is mostly for normal individual or team modes. Step Up mode is a bit different from the others. In Step Up mode, players press the arrows the same way they do in other modes, PLUS the space bar. In other modes, getting a "Perfect" all depends on just hitting all the keys. In Step Up mode, however, the space bar is the one that determines if you get a perfect or not. Even if you hit all the arrow keys, you must press the space bar at the right time in order to get a "Perfect." Also, in Step Up mode, there are "Max Moves" and a "Final Move," which I assume give more points than regular moves. I don't know the exact differences between those two moves, but I do know that the final move is just the very last move in a Step Up game and Max Moves can be done multiple times. I'll add more to this later since I only played Step Up once anyway =P
Interface
The interface of this game is easy to learn(at least for me). There is a menu bar located at the bottom of the screen and it contains pretty much all of the menu items you want/need. Need to change your outfit but is inside a game room? No need to leave and head for the mall! Just click on "My Items" and you can change your outfit in a jiffy! Well, wanna buy something new? Doesn't matter where you are, just click the "Shopping" button and you will be transported to the mall instantly! The menu bar really is helpful. Other things that can be found there are the Buddy List, Inbox, My Info, etc.
Joining rooms is very easy and I'm sure everyone knows it already. All you have to do is click the desired room and there you go! Creating a room is easy too. You can choose the modes and maps that you want. And if for some reason you change your mind later, you(as the host) can change the mode of the room in just a few clicks, saving you from having to create another room.
Oh yeah and you can walk around rooms O: pretty pointless but hey you can walk! xD
Character emote-actions are available in this game. Just click the yellow button next to the chat bar and click the action you want your character to do. They're fun to play with but most of them are "girly." Also, your character's face changes whenever you type in emoticons or keywords such as "lol" and "TT__TT" which I think is pretty neat (:
During a game, the menu bar disappears and the only things that you can change are the camera angle(F8), note sounds/volume, music volume, and chat.
Mall Items
As you can probably already tell, the graphics of this game is pretty good. With the resolution stuck at 1024x768, the images look very smooth. Clothing items look well designed and very fashionable. You can make rooms where you and other players can shop and try out items at the same time, or you can choose to shop alone. The ability to make "shopping rooms" enables players to chat with people while choosing outfits, which I think is great if you want to match clothing with your friends. Buying clothes is easy as clicking all the items you like to buy as you browse the entire mall, reviewing your shopping cart for last minute decisions, and clicking Buy.
Currently the mall has a few items only but when it gets more, the mall will be a popular destination for everyone.
My Positives
-A fun and quite unique gameplay that I haven't seen before on other dance games that I've viewed
-Nice graphics
-Well designed fashion items
-The game detects if your computer specs aren't enough for the graphics settings and automatically adjusts it for you with your permission
-Easy to learn interface
My Negatives:
-The interface is very easy to learn and is almost eye-pleasing, except for one thing: PINK!!! Jeebus everything is so pink omgosh lol
-The dance moves are so gentle and "girly." Let's spice it up with some stuff like Bboy moves or sumtin plox
-The huge price tags at the mall make it seem like the DGO world is under inflation
-I lag sometimes when its the last arrow of the move and it makes me miss and lose my chain
