I have an idea that I've kept forgetting about until now.

Why don't we have Guild Weapons? Weapons locked to the guild itself.

Figure this. A section in your guild storage where there are 11 categories.

1 Handed Sword
Fighter Shield
2 Handed Sword
Axe
Mace
Hammer
Cleric Shield
Bow
Crossbow
Staff
Wand

Each category will have 1 empty slot which can be filled with the weapon of that category. The guild Master and Admin can distribute these weapons to people in the guild they decide can use them (the master has the option of restricting Admin from doing this if he wants). The weapons are linked directly to the guild itself and is bound to the person holding it so that they cannot sell it, trade it, etc. They can only put it back into Guild Storage. Because it's linked to the guild, if the user leaves the guild, the weapon will automatically be returned to it's spot in Guild Storage under it's category and a notification will appear in the Guild notes to let the admin and master know that the weapon is no longer being used.

The guild master has the power to replace 1 registered weapon with another at any time as long as the weapon being replaced is in storage. The item being replaced is sent to the regular Guild Storage and is no longer bound to the guild.

What do you think? My guild loves passing down our weapons but there's always that constant fear that someone is going to join and then run off with a weapon the entire guild has been working collectively to perfect, never to be seen again. With this idea, people can pass their weapons down through the guild without worry. :)

Hmm...don't know how hard it would be to do, but- maybe a discarded weapon gets returned to guild storage, same as if the character gets deleted?

Though another issue would be handling a character on an account that gets perma-banned. Since the account's basically locked but still there, there would have to be some mechanism to prevent the guild's weapon from being effectively trapped in limbo. Maybe a "recall weapon" function accessible only by the Guild Master?

But overall, aside from some implemenation issues I can't find any major problem with the idea itself. *shrug*

Right. The general idea is that if the weapon leaves that person's inventory in any way whatsoever, it's sent to guild storage. Also, adding onto the idea, the Master should also have access to a "return" button in the "Guild Weapon" list that takes the item away from the current carrier and puts it back in Guild Storage, this way if someone quits the game, the weapon isn't lost due to someone's inactivity.

Bottom line, the Master has complete control of what happens to the weapons and as long as it's linked to the guild, the weapons cannot leave the guild, but can be passed around to the people within it.

EDIT: I didn't read the entire above post. Yeah, I guess you covered the "return button" idea. But yeah, I think this would be a GREAT idea. I have awesome stuff that I want to pass on to others, but I don't want to accidentally give it to someone who quits the guild and runs around with equips I wish I'd never given him.

Ima go with no on this one, Yes it would make Helga guilds feel safer but honestly i sorta think this is a waste of a idea, If you can't trust that person with a item normally don't trust them at all.

No, I've made great friends with some people a few times and after knowing them a long time, I gave them something to borrow and never got it back, some sold it, 1 guy kept it and refused to return it. But in general, some guilds like to pass on their weapons to other members once they don't need it anymore but then the sucky part about it is that you pass it down 3 or 4 times and it has some epic licenses and enhancements on it, then the next guy gets it and istead of following the tradition, greed kicks in and he drops the guild, joins a new one, and our weapon is never seen again until he's beating up one of our academy members with it in the PvP KQ.

You can trust someone alot but unless you know them in real life, there's ALWAYS a chance that they'll take it away and say "stop whining, it's just a game and YOU cn't use it anymore anyways". But that's kinda the point, I'm not supposed to be using it, it's for the guild and alot of people put alot of work into that and you won't even tip us off 500 copper for it, you just bailed because suddenly, the awesomeness of the weapon somehow nullifies our 6 months of supposedly tight friendship.

You know the people I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure you've met them... they're not as trustworthy as you've been led to believe for so long. This is why I came up with this "wast of an idea" (which IMO is an invalid term because how can you waste a thought? You can come up with a new on anytime? No offence)
