As a level 30 cleric AND level 23 archer, I've done a lot of Mara KQs. But for the first time today it was my job to pull the real mara and marlone at the end. I've known for a while which ones are the real and have helped other archers through it, but being my first time up there I was a bit unsure of what to expect. Being the only archer, with only 1 mage who didn't know how to tell which was which, I didn't have much choice LOL. So I thought I'd post to guide other archers through it, which could help KQs run a bit smoother and save you all from being as unsure of myself as I was.
Don't rush up the stairs, wait until people are ready and the main tank tells you to go. When you run up the stairs and look down into the other boat you'll see a bunch of marlones and maras, along with some fighters. If you click (once, don't double click) on each boss and look at the picture in the top middle of your screen, you'll see its little circle photo with its hp and sp bars. In that photo, only one of the marlones will have horns on its head. The others will not and are fakes. Likewise, only one mara has a blue symbol on her hat, all of the fakes have a pink symbol on their hats. (Anyone with screenshots feel free to post them, I didn't have the time to get any.)
Sometimes the real bosses are in the back, with fakes in the way. If you can't reach a real without running into a fake, tell everyone that you have to pull the fake to get to the real first. Shoot the boss and then run as fast as you can to get back down by everyone else. If you die, use a heart if you have one -the clerics will be busy healing the tank. If you don't have any hearts left, let everyone know that you died and are out of hearts... but be patient, it may take the clerics a minute to free someone up to come rez you while the tank is still properly healed. If someone rushes to rez you without the tank being healed... the tank will die, the boss will run all over and kill everyone, and there'll be a big mess. We don't want that. :)
If you had to pull a fake, or if a fake was pulled by accident, most likely someone will go on a suicide mission. They will taunt the fake and try to lure it to the other side of the ship. There they'll die, be rezzed, and then run back to the main side of the ship. The fake will stay over there and not bother anybody. By doing this, you avoid wasting time on killing a fake just for you to have to find/pull the real and kill that too.
I think that's about it. I didn't post this in the mage forum because I've rarely seen mages pull. It's usually archers, and a lot of which don't know what they're doing, so I thought maybe I could help. :) Feel free to point out anything I should change/add or to post screenshots of anything helpful.
