As the title says when I start the launcher it says checking version, then I get

The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.

I'm running windows XP btw.

I have this same problem on my desktop with both DGO and Fiesta (which is why I've had to resort to playing on my laptop x.x)

I did a little research and it seems to be some sort of error integrated within the .NET framework and there is a fix for it but it seemed a little complicated - at least for a nublet like me.

Take a look around the net and see what you can find though - if you're more computer savvy than I, then I'm sure you can fix it.

Other than that - anyone have an easy fix for this?

Install .net frame work 1.1 and then reinstall the game/launcher it should work. It works for me

Yes but don't install anything higher, unless it includes 1.1 in it.

Heres a quick fix I made up :3
1) Start > My Computer > Local Disk C > Windows > System32 > Drivers > etc
2) Double click HOSTS, and open it with NOTEPAD
3) Delete any line that has rest.outspark.net or patchdb.outspark.net
4) Add these two lines to the very end (should be on a new line):

Quote:
72.5.66.139 rest.outspark.net #Fiesta DNS
72.5.66.139 patchdb.outspark.net #Fiesta DNS

5) Save the file.
* Note * For Vista / Windows 7 users, you might get Access Denied. So what you would have to do, is save the HOSTS file to your desktop, the drag it in your etc folder, and click Yes/Allow whenever it asks.

6) Restart computer.
7) Play.
