View Full Version : What's wrong with snearing kick anyway?

Why is it that only 50% max of the fighters I party with use kick?? Is it that much trouble to waste that little bit of exp for keeping a party member alive? With pure end fighters of my own level, or close to it, I always pull agro off them (Unless there is a mage in the party) and most of that time I end of dying because the fighter doesn't kick. One even told me he shouldnt have to kick and I should be able to keep myself alive.
Your thoughts?

Exp dont you mean SP? well this can go both ways since fighters burn through SP points usually faster than the other classes minus archers.
Bad Tank = Less SP consumption used but you run the risk of killing your party
Good Tank = More SP used Snearing Kick, Mock, Stun, Devastate and the debuffs. But you will almost always be able to keep your party alive by doing this.
Well the guy who told you about keeping yourself alive well that would only apply if you were also a fighter in the same party since you have the same job as him more of backup though but otherwise he is just a terrible player =\

Put bluntly, the guy that told you that is a horrible tank. I'm slowly levelling my fighter, (Full END, sword&shield), and she's up to 24 now. Snearing Kick is BY FAR the most used skill for me in any KQ or grind (Of which I have very little experience thus far, mostly questing and doing KQs for my exp)....
In Mara KQ, I kick everything I see. When we have multiple fighters in the KQ, I'll kick one, they'll run ahead and kick the next, etc. Leapfrog over each other on the way to the fakes. It's the most efficient way to do it, and keep the damage centered on those who are built to absorb it. When multiples are in view, I use mock. Even if I don't have a cleric healing me, I'm still best suited to absorb all that damage. So, I use a couple HP stones in that scenario. It's better than forcing a mage or archer to use 182918219 stones, possibly die, and possibly use a heart or hope for a revive.
Especially in the case where you've got a cleric with you, when you've got a fighter that doesn't hold aggro, do your party a favor and get rid of them. Even a full STR or SPR axe fighter will be sufficient in most grinds, and certainly better at tanking than an equally levelled archer. (Very few exceptions to this..I have seen some pretty cool archer tanks, and even mage tanks)

Meh, tanks shouldn't debuff I leave that for the Fighters who are dpsing. Also they need all the sp they can get for taunt and mock. (Although I don't use mock that often)

I agree with you for the most part on this, but it depends on the situation.
I rarely use all my skills unless I'm duoing with my cleric friend. In a party situation, my best friends are snearing kick, mock and fatal slash, with stun and/or devastate every now and then. I hate spamming my skills - I end up running out of sp faster then anyone else in the party and we end up having to go restone before we should need to, imo. And I've been told I'm a good tank many times even though I don't spam my skills constantly :)
To answer the original poster - to put it simply, the fighters who refuse to kick/mock to regain mob control are bad fighters. Period. They should not be playing the class if they don't want to be taking the hits for the clerics and squishies (just like clerics who don't want to heal their party or mages who want to have melee attacks - yes, there's a thread on it! - need to switch classes).
My suggestion to you if you end up partied with these fighters - quit the party and find another one. If communicating doesn't work with them, they're not worth partying with.

Well here's my thought as a tank.
I carry around 200 sp pots and 300 hp pots on me when i solo and party.
I always loose alot of sp but i use pots so i keep on going.
I agro as much as i can and hold it unless stunned of course.
A good tank in my mind should use kick all the time.
I try my best to use the AOE agro, then IF a spawn happens and the monster agro's a pty member and my AOE agro (i think mock) is not charged i click on the monster , hit kick, and agro is back on me. I think it's needed if ur a good tank.
Hell if people guarantee they will be there a hour i will sometimes toss them free scrolls to help us out. I'm there for the pty not for greedyness. Although i solo alot aswell.
But for the tank that said u should keep urself alive he is probably just a fighter who says he can tank but doesnt actually know how to or why to keep the party alive.
Why let someone die in the pty.. they loose xp and they now have to get a res.. you sit and wait it's dumb.
