View Full Version : My feelings on new servers...

What is the point really on making new servers?
OS says its because of the increase in population, but in a way this is false..
would you give up a high level character you worked hard on and got a reputation, to start with nothing?
probably get your name "stolen" within the 1st 5mins of opening time? (notice im not serious about stolen since you cant claim names anyway, but its still an issue which makes people angry).

The only way this works is with server transfers!
and they arent available
i dont want a server transfer, but think about it

a new server opens but you want to keep your character, so the high population STAYS on the old servers and the new servers get nothing in comparison.

Waste of time for new servers if you ask me, focus on 90 quests, and fixes than adding things people might not use.

This is my opinion, you may like the idea of a new server, more variety right?
yeah to new players, old ones stay put

share your views on this, no flaming me please -.-

I totally agree with you. The servers are always on high, it's not like you make new server and suddenly the lag stops. Instead maybe OS should figure out why there is lag and it's their hosting server problem. I for one am not going to give up my high level char to switch chars unless they have a SC item to do that.

But in reality, they are making more servers to avoid the glitch fixing and probably just want to make more money. :S It's a business.

A new server, more ppl will want high lvl, more spend on SC = OS wins.

This game has gotten more and mroe popular, with more new people every day. Them having another server will give these new people an extra place to file into. Also people get sick and tired of their server and want to leave it. Maybe they're only 4x and dislike the way their server acts, the give up and create a toon on a different one.

Well, a lot of people want to get away from the drama on there servers, or just want to start freshly, with a new char and meet new people i guess. Yes you do leave a high leveled character of yours behind, but that's what people choose to do, they can just go back to that server with there character at anytime. ^^ Well I guess, the fiesta community can get pretty busy or really full at times, so more servers could be useful.
But, That's just my opinion.

More population as in new users but like some people have said already- there are people that would leave their characters behind for a new start.

i agree with having a new server. but only after the bugs have been fixed in the old ones first(at least as many as can be fixed). there's no point in making a new server only to have that bugged as hell too. fix the bugs in the old servers first before making new ones.

I actually left my server a few times. o.o

Mostly after a hiatus (Fiesta keeps sucking meh back in! o.O). I started up some newbs so I could get a feel for the game again and liked them so much I ended up switching servers.

Fiesta is one of the few games I've played that has decent "repeat playability," if that's even a phrase. I don't mind starting over, especially since now I'm not a total n00b and know the important little stuff like how not to sell sbl to NPC and how buying whites from blacksmith is a waste of money. xD

It's like a nice little refresh of the game. ^^ And yes, they were higher lvl charries I left (ex: one was a 70 fighter when cap was 79).

The ammount of servers wont change the ammount of bugs... they're all coded the same (one would think since its the same game) so code in one will be the same as code in another. Fix a bug in one, fix it in the others.

There's a lot of reasons why people would change servers. I myself have a character or two on each server.

My main character is a lvl 87 paladin on Teva...doing the same JT quests over and over, and being in the same map can really kill my enthusiasm. I'm impatient and I like a change of scenery. So I hop on an alt.

Also, there are some great people that I've met on the forums who don't share the same home server as me. Its fun to have an alt on their server, or to make new alts together on a different server just to hang out sometimes.

Exactly. Like for the Fiesta's Next Top Model event- each model had a character on each server. On top of that, each server was a little different. Not that the event was different, but the fact that each server has a different feel and reaction to them.

It will be on High occupancy within a week just like Cypion was.

I don't think its really a bad thing, I did find it kinda weird that they were already coming out with a new once, since Cypion really isn't that old yet, but its not bad. It's not like they are forcing people to move there (even with the event), if you wanna stay on your server then by all means stay. I've taken breaks from my home server to go on others, its kinda fun when everyone starts over, and if you end up not liking it, then you can just go back "home".

Plus, making a new server costs a lot of money o: if they didn't already have the space/hardware, they'd have to buy a new server(s), as in real computer servers, to hold the new data, and those are nooooot cheap lmao. Sure overtime they'll make the money back and then some with it, but the point is that its not like they can just make a new server for free (unless they got some really sexy market deal)

I think the new server is cool ,nothing like starting off with no money and having a new found enthusiasm for the game and your new characters. To watch the server grow and see who takes the lead ,what will be the first guilds name and being so proud of making your first gold. Going through the KQ and see all the people messing up and the ones that know griping about it....classic. I for one can't wait till the new server opens I hope to make this one the best yet. Good luck to all and see you all there.

And of course, just like they did with Cypion, there's gonna be a "ZOMG QUICK LVL UP FAST AS POSSIBLE SO YOU GET A SPECIAL PRIZE!!! HERE BUY TEVA, CHARMS, SUITS, EXT, 100% EXP BOOST CARDS SO YOU'LL WIN!!!!111111111" event.

First 500 to 50.... Winning wont be that hard... When they annouce the release date I plan on sleeping during that day and waking up for the opening to power to 50. Tower/6x abyss ftw?

My facts on the new server.

New servers are put in place for the following reasons:
- Capacity of current servers have been reached
- Funnel new users into a new server for a fresh start
- Spill existing users that either left or avoid drama to new server

Some things you may not know is well, new servers don't effect you in the slightest. Everyone knows that each server has a capacity limit according to the server's hardware but what they don't know is the capacity limit for the game itself.

When I say "game", ever noticed that towns maybe overcrowded? Monsters not spawning as much? These are all indications that new servers need to be set in place for NEW people that are coming into Fiesta.

North American Fiesta is the most successful version in the entire world. As the game grows, our business grows, as well as you, the users.

You cannot always think about yourselves. Outspark is a company trying to accommodate all of it's users. In this case, expanding with a new server, Legel.

I love starting fresh, especially with new people to meet and adventure with. Also, the server is arriving at a good time for those of us who start (or have started) school again. It gives us time to get our Coat of Arms and get to know eachother enough to realize that if "Goldenratt" has been offline for 2 days he's probably adjusting to more homework or something. Also, it's not hard to leave a character once you've made up your mind about it.

Population growth
Just to get away, meet new people
Competition (of course)

I personally don't care for new servers but you know... whatevs :P

Silky ftw.

I saw Cypion as the response to "OMG Lag sux OS fix it now!" and I see this server as expanding primarily for new users, new population. OS made a big deal about getting people to switch to Cypion with the race to 1,000,000 SC. How long do you really think it takes to hit 50?

Basically, just because there's a new server does not mean it was created to get current players to move. Some of course will move, some will take a two day break to do the race to 50.

a lot of you have said for new players
but i have a question, how can you guarentee that a new player will join the new servers?
if my friend wanted to play too, he might join Teva or Apoline
there isnt anything im aware of stopping them from doing that

Obviously, the new players can join wherever they like. Personally, I chose Teva because at the time of first login, it was on Low population and at the bottom of the list. I didn't know if I was going to keep playing, so didn't want to be all crowded on my first attempts.

i know.. im just curious
if Teva limit is full, does that limit the access to my characters?
i've seen some games where u might have a main in a server but too many players are online so u cant play ur main and forced to play with a nooblet

if that ever happens here i think i'd cry lmao

Yeah. I don't really see the big deal about adding a new server... People were practically BEGGING for a new server before Cypion. They say they're giving us another and its like "DON'T DO EET!!!"

There isn't a guarentee that they will. But if they have more chaoices there is a smaller chance they will pick your server.

And for those that are being all pissy about the new server... Just pretend it isn't there. You never have to go to it....

umm....you are aware that cypion has a "new" graphic tagged to it right?

same will go for legel.......

sure they can go for another server, but typically someone new to a game will choose the newest server..it means theres more people like them..ie low level, more ppl to play with, ask questions, etc.

Marketing 101

User behavior:

People generally choose the TOP option or LOWEST option.

This why server arrangement is so important.

i still personally think instead of making these new servers and adding these events, the bugs in the old servers should be fixed first first. there are still people there who spend money on those servers too. yea the game is huge and everything but money and fame and the reputation had to come from somewhere. instead of adding servers try fixing some of the bad bugs first. just so those who dont want to move can have a bit of peace of mind and play the game with minimal issues while the gm's are focusing on the event on cypion and now this event on legel.

*copy paste original coding for server basics*
*put it into its own database*
*pay for the server to be up and running*
*release server*
*continue fixing problems*

You make it seem like releasing a new server means they have to hault EVERYTHING else. Mind you, it is OOS that would have to give them the data patches needed to fix our bugs anyways.

The new servers give some people a chance to start over, to create a new community with people.

They also give new-er people a chance to become "one of the best" so to speak, without having the try to "break into" the established "Elite" I know on Apoline there is a community of much, much older players that all know each other, and we will instantly recognize each other - new players to Apples don't have that, on a new server, they get a chance.

I personally like it, and I see that new servers work by having a "high population" next to them whenever I log on. Personally, I'm happy that that high population isn't spread into Apoline, we're kinda crowded as it is.

Have a good day!

i'm not trying to make it sound like that. sorry if i did. i just mean to say. there are a lot of people who are on the other servers who use sparkcash too. and the majority of them probably wont move when they have high levelled characters and premium items still running. just fix what bugs you can in the old servers while working on the new one. that way if that particular bug pops up in the new server. it can be handled with easily and quickly. again i apologise if i made it sound like they should hault everything.

Join Legel soon and you'll understand.xD New server means new start. If you dont want to join, no one gonna force you to do so. Theres always someone who gonna join :D Fixing things need time. Its not like you send the report today, It will be done right at the spot of maybe tomorrow. It takes time to do so. So be patient about it.

As many people have been saying, if you don't wanna join, don't. If one server has a bug, the new server wont make it better or worse (and the new one will have the same bug). If you think about it, more servers = more people collecting data on bugs.

#1 reason I've heard for swapping servers is because of drama on their old one.

I've had fun switching from a lvl 88 character on Bijou to Cypion at lvl 1, no skills or my own higher lvl character to support my nooblet. But, being poor really bites. :p

Anyone spare me some silver?
