Modern day music has its roots in many different cultures and backgrounds. Not just one. African Americans are well known for their influence in Jazz, Hip Hop, R & B, Rap and Classic Rock. Namely, the major types of music that are popular in American culture today. However, each different region, Ireland, the Middle East, Asia, etc have their own styles of music that are unique to those cultures.
In terms of dancing you've got break dancing, pop and lock, and hip hop, which are the more popular styles today. However there's still ballroom dancing, Jazz, modern, interpretive, tango, salsa, etc. There's a lot more to the musical world than you'd initially guess.
To answer your question, its possible to change your character skin color in the DGO look shop. I made my character to look as much like me as possible..

I'm half black and half indian but I'm not going to bother making my character look like me else I'd name it Lian. lol. It's GoddessIsis for a reason...trying to make it look as close to her [My fiesta character] as possible.
Besides...dark skin with what the light brown hair? Because I am not rockin' a fro. lol.
And as everyone stated there is a dgo shop item but who cares about what skin tone people pick.

Well I'm black and I try to represent my character but its hard when the dark skin tones once again look pasty and sick, not to mention the hair tones are kinda off with the darker skin tones, so I make due with the light tan tone.
