Full POW scout

I'm currently level 63, and my stats are this:

73 POW
9 AGI
3 STA

(AGI and STA are default Neo stats, I think)

I don't cast that slow, but I hit hard. I intend to keep going full POW...forever!

Is this a bad idea?

Bump your AGI to 24, and add 16 MEN. You'll need that extra firing speed and that little bit of Dodge for those sucky levels before Stone Edge where you're training in maps that are hard as hell.

I once was training in Turmeit with an archer buddy, and another Archer I saw was full POW with no MEN. His kill speed was far too low to finish monsters off in time to make proper use of Stone Edge (and he didn't have Snake Shot yet), so he often dumped his monsters onto me and my Archer partner. "Not that slow" = "still a little too slow" IMO. You NEED that speed to make Archer work right.

This is all just my opinion though, feel free to seek others. :)

I had about 16 MEN, but I was just so WEAK...took forever to kill anything! I reset my stats and didn't notice hardly any difference in casting speed...

Would it be improper/proper to assume that, my slower casting speed but hard hits equals out to fast casting weaker hits?

Maybe I should just get higher level to decide. :3

What's really cranking out the damage for you is that level 3 Pony. Many SARs who use mounts don't realize exactly how much faster their skills become when they get off the mount...often to the extent of hastening killing to above the kill speed experienced while mounted simply due to the incredible skill speed that AGI/MEN builds give you while on your feet. Of course, a lot of the builds that have good amounts of MEN AND STA are really only feasible at higher levels, so perhaps you do have to get higher to decide. Perhaps it might be worth investing in a Rebirth or two to see what your results are.

SAR = Scout/Archer/Ranger.

And I was wondering where XxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxJoshxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxX got his pony. Guess I know. xD (Josh, if you're readin this, we're just poking fun at you, that's all.)

So in that case, if your damage is great even without the pony, I think the case of increasing AGI (which DOES increase attack, by the way, just not as much as POW does) and MEN is all that more compelling. Since your attack is already high and leveling is a breeze at the moment, why not get to work on pouring in that MEN for even faster killing? (Also, keep in mind that you do get a new bow at 66, meaning harder hits, so the 60s is a great time to start blowing up the MEN and STA stats if you chose to do so).

It might sound like I'm trying to talk you into it...totally not, just sharing my opinion (not to mention a little bit of my plan when I decide to go Ranger).

hmmm.. back when a loooooooooong time ago before the existence of horror mask (it doesn't matter in this story), there was two archers, the one called Oreo and the other one called Balgram (only high level oldies knew them I guess), Oreo had full pow build and Balgram had a mixed of men/agi build. An awesome mage called FogeR_StaRZ duoed with each of them. Foger somehow noticed that he killed a lot faster while duoing with Balgram even though he hit 200-250 while Oreo usually hit around 400. Balgram always asked Foger, who kill faster? me or her? Foger said "YOU because you hit faster". Another godly archer named Shiki demonstrated uber speed that pawned the mobs and everyone in pvp with no mercy. Foger whispered in his heart "Damn ! I wanna be an archer too" but magic class hit highest above all which was awesome.

SO, the moral of the story is pure pow due to slow casting speed. I saw many pure pow scouts back a long time ago and all of them changed their build soon after. HOWEVER, I believe for archers to utilise the damage from mounts with the lack of speed, I would rather go for pure Pow and hit godly high with attack pearls and attack wings. On mounts, I think pure pow will overcome mix build. No one has ever tested this so I dont know. We need some rich Ranger to reset stat to pure pow. I think they can hit as high as Starlight Shot lvl 2 LOL ! ANY RICH RANGER OUT THERE !!!!

Very true, if you are going to be mounted on a pet while grinding, go full power. I recommend it. When on a mount, your agi and men will not matter. The casting speed you get when on a mount, will only make your distributed points in agi/men useless.

So, my recommendation is to do 1 of 2 things. Either:

1. Go full power and sit on the mount the rest of your SAR (I've been seeing that my term I made up is used alot lately :D) career

or

2. Do a mix of Pow/Agi/Men build. You will receive the best benifit from this w/o the mount. Fast casting, with pretty high damage to finish off the mobs in no time. A looooooooooooooooooooong time ago when bells/mask/wings/accessories/tiny pots were not available yet, this build was kind of hated on, due to lack of carrying weight and lower damage. But now with all of those things available, take advantage of this build. It is great.

Or, if you are a PowerBeast like alot of the veteran SARs were, you would want to go straight up Pow/Men. You get about the same casting speed, uber carrying weight and damage at a lower level, because you don't really see the effects of the Pow/Agi/Men build till later on when more points are available for distribution.

Plus a full power ranger could use marked point, sniper shot and last judgement as alternatives to wind blow. I suggest full pow with a little men/agi then you can work out how fast you can spam on the back of a pet and just leave your men/agi at that lvl.

I would gladly test out a full pow high level ranger [only if u consider me as a high lvl ranger xD]. But a rich high level ranger...hmmm...i think you got me confused with someone who is rich :p

The fun and unique thing about playing ranger is the blinding speed not the damage. If you want a slow hard hitting class you might as well make a warrior or full powered temp.

DJ's pow/agi/men build works the best for me.

Full power can be utilized to take advantage of a pow/agi/attack+6 mount but doing it would make my life harder because i would definitely be casting slower than the build im used to. Part of my game as ranger is to make the monster flinch as much as i can in order to make them even slower coming at me.

i would imagine a full pow +mount build would enable me to hit as much as 2200 in amorica but the marginal cost would be giving up two of the things i take pride in as ranger: my slightly better than average dodge (due to agi) and my skill speed. i cant imagine ranger life without those two :3

writing all of this made me curious about a full agi build.

Pure agi works in my books if you have a good healer who carries extra mp pots for you and casts meditation on you when possible.

I did not think that AGI and MEN would increase my skill speed if I am on mount pet. I used skill reset scroll and checked how fast I could spam skills while riding on a lvl3 lion. I found my skill horribly slow with the initially distributed MEN. However, as I added more stats into MEN, I noticed that I can cast skills a lot faster even with the lion.

So I think:
1. MEN and AGI affect on skill speed even when you ride on your mount pet.
2. You can spam skills faster on foot than on mount.
