Well... I noticed alot of people are making this hole "forum moderation" job pretty hard for Gm_Nekopon especially. Holding things against her, uhhh... Necro posts (Yes I did this once, IDK why >.o) Just making her job alot harder than it needs to be. Can we all please, be nice (as I'm working on doing), keep the forums clean, and make her, and the other forum moderators jobs, a little bit easier. :o If you support Gm_Nekopon, you'll help her out :p

I have to say that I'm encouraged by Gm_Nekopons activities within the forums. I can't put my finger on why exactly but I like her a lot. She manages to carry the air of authority and respect that comes with such a position without seeming to be trying to hard. She seems friendly and fun and willing to listen to what we have to say.

A huge choccy chip for GM_Nekopon :)

I love Nekopon with all my heart. She is the finest GM we have today and I hope she will stay with us for a good amount of time. I want to thank her for coming to my blogtv broadcasting page to see me play Fiesta BGM on my guitar LIVE. I wish I could share my musical talent to everyone in the Fiesta community LIVE. Unfortunately, the Outspark staff does not trust blogtv.com. The only way I could invite users to my broadcasting is by meebo. So anyone who would like to see me playing Fiesta BGM on guitar LIVE on blogtv.com, I will be very glad to share my talent for your entertainment pleasure :). Thank you GM Nekopon you rock!

Hey... Just outta curiosity... Wasn't there a debate in the notable fiestians thread about portraying one member of the staff in a brighter light than the rest?

This isn't a comparison to the other GMs,
No one is saying they don't work hard. I'm positive that they all do!

People are just telling neko that she's doing a good job of moderating on the forums. It's like a thank you thread.

So, THANK YOU NEKOOOO <333

'cause she's awesome.
The end.

Well like the community was saying Neko was doing a great job on forums and IG and thus she was put as a notable fiestian. But she still got taken off the list and it was made an all or nothing thing...

Well that's just it, that thread is a "list". People nominate others they want on that thread. In a way, it's comparing those on the list against those who aren't.
This thread is just about neko, not if she's doing a better job than anyone else or if she's a "better staff member" than anyone else. That's not the point here ^^.

I'm pretty sure it's just to thank her for working so hard o.o
So it's not really an all or nothing thing here, because it's only addressed to her?

Its a thread about Neko's work and not about the others. Wouldn't that be liek the others not being on the list? The forums are just a list of topics and one happens to highlight Neko.

way to put a cloud on a happy thread
Well I'm trying to find out wht makes this different than the other thread? One of the CLs involved in tht thread telling me of what, if anything, makes this thread different would help out quite a bit.

I personally <3 Neko as well. I love the job she does as a GM. She really seems to try for us. She keeps a list of our glitches and tries to keep us informed on what is and isn't being worked on at the current time.

As I said, that thread is a list this one is not.
It's like leaving her a little thank you comment on her profile page, only this is in a thread so other people can do it as well.
The reason she was removed from the other thread was because that one listed her, and not everyone else. It was a specific comparison between staff members, which isn't allowed.

If the point here is purely to say "thank you" to neko, then it's very much different, however if the OP was saying "=O Neko's my favorite" then it would be a comparison, which should be closed.

But which this is, is up to the CL's/other staff to decide =o
Personally, however, the OP seems like they're just saying "hat's off to neko" ^^

Personally, I can't see this breaking the forum rules. There have been countless GM specific thanking threads. I can't see where that's a favortism issue because periodically it seems like a different one is named as such. It's not putting them above the others necessarily but thanking them for what work they've done to get the praise from the individuals.

The other thread was seeking to put emphasis only on those named. It seems a great deal alike, but it's not really in my mind in the least bit. If a Staff Member decides otherwise then I'm going with that decision, but as it stands now I can't recall a thread thanking an individual being closed on the basis of the favortism rule.

That said, there's no need to mention it outrightly on the thread and thus seek negative attention to yourself. If it concerns you, please notify the CL Team rather than try to post your interpretations in the thread and get mud slinged at you. This saves us a little bit of trouble, and doesn't give the wrong impression.

Edit: The message at the bottom pertains to everyone. I mention it as a specific note because there's been a recent rise of posters indicating to users that a specific rule is being broken. I inherently find no fault with that because typically it's true.

The place where I find problems with it is in the typical reactions made by those who read it, which make reference to false impressions and/or that particular user being flamed. That create's a bit more for us to have to step in and deal with, and particularly, we CL's don't want to see the community getting flamed. If it's anyone, we'd prefer to handle that part.

Caution: Extremely long post ahead.

I apologize in advance if it somehow inconveniences or annoys some people. It was written with the intention of trying to give GM_Nekopon (and all staff) some appreciation and support. My thanks for their hard work and patience goes out to them all.

I completely agree that I often see GM_Nekopon roaming the forums; as is evident by her numerous posts. But when the response isn't what someone wants to hear people will resort to crying that OS doesn't listen or care, which isn't necessarily the case.

I too have a number of gameplay issues that I'd like to see implemented, and the glitches certainly get frustrating at times. But we all need to remember that first and foremost GM_Nekopon (and all the staff for that matter) are intermediaries. What they as individuals can do is limited. They can take our opinions, criticisms, and desires forward to the company to be addressed; but they have rules and guidelines that they have to follow too. And not complying doesn't mean that their account gets banned, it means the loss of their lively-hood.

The second thing we have to remember is that OS does not outright 'own' this game. They've simply obtained the rights to distribute it in North America. So many of the changes we'd like to see made have to be approved (or denied) by the proprietors before they can even be forwarded to programmers to implement. And these transactions take place over seas no less. It all takes time.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of the devout defenders that think that OS can do no wrong. I've been a very vocal voice when I think that OS or their staff aren't doing their job within what I consider acceptable standards. (And I do consider them seperate entities even though they collaborate.) But at the same time, I always try to consider their side of things when expressing my criticisms. And I also try to do it in a respectful manner (even when it's something I feel very strongly about).

I consider these forums a courtesy for the most part. It's a good place for players to share information and get help from one another. It's also OS's effort at trying to find out what we as players want. And I think the staff helps directly when they can. Even if it's not exactly what some people want we should appreciate the effort. They are obviously trying; proven by the fact that they now keep us much better informed about maintenance with patch notes and the status of glitch repairs. We do need to be patient at times because they can't give us information if they themselves don't have it yet.

We can help free up more time for the staff to pursue issues for us if we help by:

1) Not opening multiple threads on the same issue.

If there's a thread that's less than 10 days old on the same topic you're addressing then just add your comments to the existing thread. It doesn't make a person look important when they start a new, redundant thread; they look inept. ie there's been an onslaught of threads about the Izyel tower lately and they all say pretty much the same thing.

The GM's aren't hired just to monitor the forums. They are also the go betweens we need bringing our requests/ideas to OS for us, then arranging for and implementing any approved changes. So the more time they have to spend reading duplicate threads/posts the less they can get done in other areas. We have no right to complain that it takes so long for certain things to get done if the reason for the delay is our own fault.

2) Make sure you check to see if an issue has already been addressed before opening a thread.

There is a search feature on the forums. It only takes a little effort to use it. GM_Nekopon posted two days ago that they are aware of the Tower of Izyel glitches and they are working on it, yet there are still new threads being opened on the issue as of today. Again, do people want the staff reading redundant complaints that they've already responded to - or spending their time doing something about it to fix it?

3) Don't open nuisance threads.

I've seen some that were opened simply out of boredom I'm sure. They have nothing to do with the game at all. (ie opening a thread pointing out it's your birthday) Either announce it ingame, or post it in the appropriate off topic discussions area.

And then there are those that aren't so much a request for help, information exchange, or trying to draw attention to an ingame issue, but simply a statement riddled with sarcasm or overt hostility that ultimately does little more than promote anarchy.

Besides the reasons I've stated above, if we keep this kind of stuff out of the forums it makes it easier for players and staff alike to find the important information worth reading.

4) Keep threads on topic.

It's much easier for the staff to hear what we have to say if it doesn't get lost in a sea of gibberish.

5) Try your best not to flame others so that the staff doesn't have to spend their time refereeing instead of helping.

It is possible to get a point across (even a strong one) without being rude. It just takes a little more effort. We want the staff to make efforts on our behalf so shouldn't we do the same?

Give credit when credit's due. People never seem to hesitate to speak up when they have something to complain about, yet they somehow mysteriously fall silent when it comes time that some appreciation would be appropriate.

Well I just wanted to add my thanks as well. Neko has done some wonderful work for OS over the past while she's been here and I appreciate her straight-forwardness, and also playfullness. Of course the other GM's do great work too, but since this is a thread to thank Neko, then I'm doing just that :)

You're awesome chickadee, thank you for helping with the community like you do, we really appreciate you.

Seph makes a very good point. I admit if there was a thanking thread recently made/posted in it's either slipped from my memory or I just didn't see it while checking some of the older threads, which is a mistake on my behalf.

Thanks for stopping by and clearing things up Alden. I honestly didn't care if someone wanted to flame me for what I said. But I can see how that might cause the CL team issues.

And liek you said, the two topics SEEM similar. I was merely curious if this thread was just allowed to be an eception to the rules where as the other had to be reformatted to match them. Seeing as you're the only CL/Staffer to post regarding it I'll take your word on it :D

I read some of the post~ :o and wow. That was long. But short attention span is FTL sometimes. x-x

This thread is specifically for Neko, and her work around the forums. True, many GM's read the forums, and post, but Neko especially. She runs the Forum MVP's each week, gives input in threads mainly in the general discussion, she has to kill the creepy slimey zombie necro threads, and she helps in many ways. So a big <3 goes out to her from me.

I told ya hun, people love you and your activeness in this community, and many of us appreciate it~

xoxo,
Yuci~
