Hi all.
I hate when this happens to my cleric... No they dont KS me, it just they follow me and hits the mobs that i currently hitting then go..
The problem with this is I have to share my exp with them just because they hit the mob like 2 times... and no this is not just one time thing.. it happen all the time..

use the report button if they do this enough to drive you nuts.
one or two hits will only give them like 2% of the exp gained anyway... @__@ i don't see why people are so motivated to do so ...

As a cleric, it's happened to me too, although only in the lower level areas. Usually from people who obviously have a different main character (as they are weilding +8 newb weapons and have a lot of scroll buffs).
I think it is one of the more offensive and upsetting MMO-unwritten-law breakings that I have seen. Some people just don't know the meaning of (un)common courtesy.

well it happened alot to me. especially yesterday (x3 exp) in MT.. most of them are archers or mages that just shoots everything so they can have free exp without having to actually kill the mob themself.
I know its probably gives them a small portion of exp. But if they are doing it to a lot of ppl, then they will have quite a lot of FREE exp.

While I didn't think about it at the time, we have a level 16 fighter who has a lvl 50+ cleric (so he had very good equipment and buffs) just run through the slime KQ and attack everything. While this kept everyone else safe, and we were glad for the protection, I have realised it allowed him to take most of the exp.
Also, it took longer to complete than when we had a Mage tanking XD Mage meat-tank ftw.

This happens constantly on all my toons and it's not just the xp suckage that hurts... These people seem to like to do this the most when you're trying to kill an elite mob for a quest... So you start pounding the elite mob, they wait until you get it down a bit and run up to swat it a few times and BINGO! You just lost credit for that kill for your quest. What a bonus!

Perhaps there should be a requirement to do over 50% damange to a monster to get the kill? Or perhaps only the person who does the most damage to the mob gets the kill? Or maybe there is some equation we could draft that would be fitting for deciding who, and how many (if more than one) person(s) get the kill. I think it should also be quest dependant, but there needs to be a minimum damage based on how many people are attacking the mob to determine who gets the kill.

I think its a bad idea to give the kill to the one who deal the most damage.. especially for cleric..
I can imagine the number of mages/archers that will start shooting at the mob that cleric have been tanking, just to get the kill without the risk of the mob kill them.
It will encourage more KSers

I accidentally do this a couple of times.
Like, I'm running to get to the mob, and before I do, someone else closer by reaches it and begins to fight. Me, being a sucky reactionist, smack the enemy once or twice before escaping, because I don't want to be a KSer.
If they walk around you and you can tell they're doing this on purpose, you oughta report them. It's as much as you can do.

The stuff talked about in this thread is why I choose way out of the way areas to hunt, away from the more popular areas. It sucks, I know but it saves me a lot of headaches (ESPECIALLY in CP).

Since I experience some pretty severe lag from time, I, too, sometimes accidently steal xp from others. I think the best thing to do when you've done this not on purpose is to apologize and do your best to avoid it in the future. I can't begin to tell you how much difference a "Sorry." can make! :D Alas, sometimes I am so lagged I can't even manage that much before my victim has moved on so if anyone on the forums reading this thread has had this happen by any of my toons... Just know I really am sorry!!!

I would love this Idea. I lost the kill for a gang imp today on my cleric because a mage got the last shot when he had a sliver of HP left. So I had to restart all over again, and deal with dumb bored imps.
What they did is exactly the same thing as saying "Clerics will do 80% of the work and we'll take the credit and items for getting the last hit in, and the cleric will be SOL because he is not in our party." Not very fair.
This is where mages become over-powered, they learn to leech and ruin it for everyone else because their skills are so overpowered to make up for their bad defence. On top of that all they have to do is step back 20+ feet and spam "1" "2" "3" and "4" for attacks, while clerics have to pummel them without a nice STR or END boost like warriors. So it does take longer to kill, and then they come and take it away instantly..... not fair.

Our STR and END comes with a lack of SP, and the lack of the ability to constantly heal ourselves. We cannot solo the same way you guys do. If we equip shields we deal less damage than a cleric.

It would work to implement the XP aquisition of some of the MMO's i've played, mainly like WoW...if you get FIRST hit, you get xp, quest, whatever, and those in yer party do as well..if not in the party, you get nothing...would really kill KSing..no point if you don't get anything out of it...i mean hell, if someone else want's to kill it after i've hit it, knowing that they get nothing out of it, by all means, have fun!

I am in full support of a "tag system" as well. Frankly, if some rude person wants to smack my mob when I already tagged it, it would make me less prone to get irritable. Let's hope this is instituted at some point. Tbh, there are SO many xp leechers and KSers, it's kinda silly to waste the entirety of your game play time trying to report them.
I'm finding it a little hard to play for more than 1-2 hrs at a stretch at this point just because my tolerance level for this kind of behaviour is starting to hit rock bottom. And if I'm so mad I could scream over these people, then, obviously, the game isn't fun anymore... Having fun *is* supposed to be why we're playing, right?

I especially hate leechers especially in Kq

Mages are the kill stealer's character of choice.
No other character stands a chance against them if the person playing the Mage is intent on stealing all of you drops and most of the Exp while you take the hits for them.
In my opinion the best way to get rid of pests like that is to just gang up on them verbally and ridicule them for their lack of maturity.
They may try to act like they don't care what you think of them or what they are doing but they can't take very much of it before it really gets to them.
Don't use profanity or say anything that will get you banned.
But you can help out you fellow good citizens in the game by helping them get rid of pests like that.
If you see someone in chat say that a player is kill stealing, you can add a comment and say something like "what a loser!" and other mocking things that discourage that kind of bad behavior.
No one wants a bad reputation and public scorn is a powerful weapon.
If they think that others are paying attention to what they are doing then they are less likely to continue the bad behavior.
The solution is not to try to fix the the game but to instead fix the bad behavior.
Just my opinion.

I'm sure everyone here can say they don't like Xp Leechers or KS'ers and mean it.

I'm new but this thread caught my eye and figured I'd post cause I had a somewhat similar situation. This happened in kingdom quests, and twice so far. Someone in the kq just sits there at the start never moving just waiting for the free exp on the win. It really made us mad cause they're taking up valuable space just to leech exp and short of reporting them there was absolutely nothing we could do to kick them or anything.
