View Full Version : A scientific question

Im bored here...just sitting in computer..pondering how science works and how it leads to discovery, etc.
Question is that....Is there ever a dead end to the galaxy space?Or is it just an endless galaxy that has no dead end and leads you to nowhere?Think about it.... What if there really is a dead end?How will you pictured it?Will it just be a big wall that blocks you from going anymore further in the galaxy?Or there will be another side of the galaxy place where the colors and your surrounding change drastically soon as you touch the other side? How the galaxy could be an endless? No one ever knew this. Not even scientist can be accurate about this question.
What is the true purpose of the earth and how nature works,or how the sun revolves around the earth correctly everyday?Or how the sun or the moon knows when its time for them to shine/twinkle at this place? How these works. What happen to us when the world aka earth will one day be plummeted to the bottom of the solar system and destroyed? Then human would no longer exist, even all the biotic in our earth..will be just gone like this. Then the history of the world will be ended.Nomore history,no children,no living things,no discovery,no nothing,we all just gone ..but no one know these for sure,we find out in the year of 9999999999.How long can these questions be unanswered? Will someone really go to a space just to find an accurate answer? No one will ever knows
Just to let everyone know my thoughts..

Of course galaxies end
Galaxies are a system of stars, gas, dust and dark matter.
Asking if the universe is endless is one of those type of questions with no definite answer
You could ask
What is the meaning of life or does God exist or was the universe created from the Big Bang. No one can provide a definite answer to any of those questions

Big bang but there is also a god (:

Islam has the answer to this.
What modern science came to know recently (500-50 years ago) the holy Qu'ran speaks about 1400 years ago.
Such as, every thing is made from water, humans from leech like substance, water cycle, big bang theory (yes big bang theory is spoken about in the Qu'ran).
Science is not disproving God, but disproving MODELS of God.
Call God what you will, be it the Creator. But any athiest cannot deny that something must have created the worlds for a purpose.

(copying from book)
CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE:
‘THE BIG BANG’
The creation of the universe is explained by
astrophysicists as a widely accepted phenomenon,
popularly known as ‘The Big Bang’. It is supported
by observational and experimental data gathered by
astronomers and astrophysicists for decades.
According to ‘The Big Bang’, the whole universe was
initially one big mass (Primary Nebula). Then there
was a ‘Big Bang’ (Secondary Separation) which
resulted in the formation of Galaxies. These then
divided to form stars, planets, the sun, the moon,
etc. The origin of the universe was unique and the
probability of it happening by ‘chance’ is nil.
The Qur’an contains the following verse regarding
the origin of the universe:
“Do not the Unbelievers see
that the heavens and the earth
were joined together (as one
unit of Creation), before
We clove them asunder?”
[Al-Qu’ran 21:30]
The striking similarity between the Qur’anic verse
and ‘The Big Bang’ is inescapable! How could a book,
which first appeared in the deserts of Arabia 1400
years ago, contain this profound scientific truth?
INITIAL GASEOUS MASS BEFORE
CREATION OF GALAXIES
Scientists agree that before the galaxies in the
universe were formed, celestial matter was
initially in the form of gaseous matter. In short,
huge gaseous matter or clouds were present
before the formation of the galaxies. To describe
initial celestial matter, the word ‘smoke’ is more
appropriate than gas. The following Qur’anic verse
refers to this state of the universe by the word
dukhaan which means smoke.
“Moreover, He Comprehended
in His design the sky,
and it had been (as) smoke:
He said to it and to the earth:
‘Come ye together,
willingly or unwillingly.’
They said: ‘We do come (together),
in willing obedience.’”
[Al-Qur’an 41:11]

I think when we all die, we are dead. However, by the time you mentioned, we'll probably have developed better ways of surviving in space or other planets... granted we don't all kill each other first.

I can give you the answer to that to.
Infact if anyone wants to know anything about faith or life after death, existence of god, concept of god in abrahmic religions, replies for most questions asked to muslims by non muslims and deciding weather the Quran is compatible with modern science, then ask me via whisper.

aye I believe this life is a test for the here after (next life)
so we die in the world
we are then ressurected
all our deeds are held accountable
and dependant on our faith and actions in this life
we are either admitted in to the garden or to the torment of hell.

The universe is constantly expanding, however you have a mistaken notion of it being like a cube. It's very difficult to explain, but in essence space "warps"- it's so subtle that you can't notice it (this is NOT gravity-based), however you'll turn ever so slightly, so if I travel for a very long time, (assuming that the universe suddenly stops expanding), I will end up back where I started, I essentially will loop. That's if it stopped expanding, which it's not- the rate of space expansion is accelerating.
Additionally, time is something very, very funny. It's more relative than you think, once again very hard to explain without a solid physics grounding.

Well I watch things like this on the tv.
The Universe keeps expanding until eventually it can't anymore, then comes "The Big Crunch theory" Where the whole Universe collapses. Basically we all just die without realizing it.

As haroon said; Islam have the answer.
Allah created the universe from the scratch. And we 'humans' were found by him. And he created the earth and the sky in approx 6 days. And he let them fly without anything holding them.
And there's a day called "The Day of Resurrection". This day were everything blows out. We 'humans' die. Everything poofs.
I belive the Holy Quran tells it all.

The Qur'an states that "Allah created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in six days" (7:54). While on the surface this might seem similar to the account related in the Bible, there are some important distinctions.
The verses that mention "six days" use the Arabic word "youm" (day). This word appears several other times in the Qur'an, each denoting a different measurement of time. In one case, the measure of a day is equated with 50,000 years (70:4), whereas another verse states that "a day in the sight of your Lord is like 1,000 years of your reckoning" (22:47). The word "youm" is thus understood, within the Qur'an, to be a long period of time -- an era or eon. Therefore, Muslims interpret the description of a "six day" creation as six distinct periods or eons. The length of these periods is not precisely defined, nor are the specific developments that took place during each period.
Therefore, I say, it is not important to know the time it took to create the universe, for the creater alone knows. Lets leave it at that.

You almost owned me. Kinda o.o
I'm a muslim and arabic at the same time. I know the word day called "Youm" in here. And week "Esbou"...Everything is written in the Holy Qur'an from 1400-2000 years. From The messenger Mohammed until now. Everything is safe. So you shouldnt just getting confused. Just leave everything as it is, And keep your life in track.

The universe is both infinite and finite

The universe is finite, but for our purposes we can assume it is infinite. You seem to be confused about the universe and our galaxy. Our galaxy is extremely finite, there are millions of other galaxies in our universe, we know that for sure. But we do not know, definitely, what lies beyond our own galaxy, perhaps even our own solar system, because by the time it takes the light emitted from those celestial bodies to reach us, they could have already been destroyed. To answer your "purpose" question, there probably isn't one, we are all products of random occurrences, different combinations, and mutations. Also, the sun doesn't revolve around the Earth, you're thinking the way the old Catholic church did, bad road to go down. The earth revolves around the sun at a constant pace, because gravity is an ever-lasting force. To finish my message, the Earth is very adept at harboring life, it has been doing it for about 4 billion years, even if humanity dies, lifeforms will most likely go through the stages of evolution again and bring back intelligent life to this planet.
