View Full Version : Inconsiderate Event for non USA players!

Am from the U.K here and it has just gone 1am.
Work tomorrow, so have to sleep for the:
"3x experience for the next 7 hours" event.
Anyone in Europe will be asleep, Asians will be working or at school (or running bots to grind gold for online stores - hehe).
Seems only the Americans will benefit from this one.
GMs, would it not be more considerate to make all such events multiples of 24hrs so everyone can enjoy them?

What x3 EXP event for the next seven hours?

No. This is the NA version and Outspark headquarters is in California in the United States.
Correct, until Outspark either hosts a server here state side on Greenwich time or another company hosts the game for European players. Events will remain to be for Northern American player and at a convenient time for them.

Outspark tries to make all the events a good time so everyone could participate and they are on no curcomstances to adjust the time. I am sorry about the Europeans, but you don't know what you are talking about for the Asians. Video games is stritcly phorhibited in that area.

Is there an EXP event going on right now? Or am I just reading into this too much?

Dark Forces should be on now..i think it should've started almost 2 hours ago, and never saw anything about it, so i don't know. Dakkon is ALWAYS late, but not like this.

3x Exp was a reward from an ongoing event that has been happening since almost 11am PST. Which is before most North American players were on. But as was mentioned, our GM's and our servers are on PST. That is the time that we can normally schedule events. We cannot cater to everyone, and instead have to go with the larger majority.

Does that mean that x3 EXP is going on NOW? Or was that sometime before? =/

umm..thats nice Mr. Firehose-Man, but the event schedule for Teva says the event is [11/09 5:00pm Fri (PDT):Dark Forces] Which was like 2 hours ago, and it was not announced. So...??
Like i said, Dakkon LOVES to be late, but this is a bit ridiculous.

I just refresh the Fiesta home page, and go to each of the 5 new posts listed there. I pay attention to if it's fiesta or SoS, but that's it. I still don't understand why SoS threads pop up from the Fiesta page, but ehh..whacha you gonna do? Post Fiesta things on SoS I guess..

LOLx which world are you living in. Maybe in your own frog well. I pity u poor thing, or maybe u have an elitelist thinking that only your country is developed and the whole asia is far behind. U're damn wrong, even China players are in this game nooby. And I'd bet some parts of asia is richer than your hometown. Go improve on your general knowledge and stop disgracing yourself. Boo to you.

If y'all want to take advantage of the Exp events rather than complaining, your best and most professional bet would be to request kindly that Steam could plan some of the events further ahead of time so that you can plan on being able to participate in them.
A single GM cannot cater to and please everyone, showing them kindness patience and respect often goes a long way.

I agree that events which requires GMs to be online should be set at those times. But EXP events do not need any GM online, so making them 24h would make them fair for everybody. If u think 24h is too long, then making them 7h but at different times would do.
PD: I have recently noticed that those exp events last for more than those 7 hours. ;)

It got extended.
Originally it was for a duration of 7 hrs.
Now its been extended another 10 hours.
Which is what he did the last time there was an exp event during American daylight hours.
Too bad for Mess and the Europeans. Next time take a three hour nap and stay up till 8am with me =P I've been thinking of posting something like this (requesting that exp events be 24 hours), but so many damn people are already not (nor are they ever) satisfied with what Steam gives them, I don't want to be another whiner.
24 hours would be a convenient way to cater to the global player base, and because the event would be stopped 24 hours after it was started, there /shouldn't/ be any time-related problem for Steam to end it on time. However, using /shouldn't/ in any sentence is dangerous, so.. Meh. -logs in to enjoy rest of event-

Wow
I really didn't expect any replies to this thread and only really posted it as I was tired and a tad frustrated that I would miss the exp event. Hopefully the extension will allow me a few hours beneficial play after work :).
I should really say, thanks Steam for running the event in the first place (must get rather frustrating online with people PMing you constantly), carry on GMing dude.
As has been alluded to, Asia actually has the majority of mmorpg players globally, S.Korea has the most mmorpg developers (and fastest internet - 54meg standard and upwards) and most deaths from extended play. Many games cater only for that continent, though lots are being translated for western use.
I still feel that Asia, Europe and Australasia (well, everywhere really) should not be ignored when running events, especially as the player base was not restricted to only Americans.
... my 1 pence worth ... (current exchange rate, about 2 cents)
