Is there a NEED for +9 weapons?

I'm a level 50 fighter...and at one point I had a sword that was plus 6 for maybe a level before I gave it back to a friend when I hit 30.

But I've been using the stock/Blacksmith armor/weapons this entire time...and I DO have some issues now and then...when I have problems killing a monster here and there...but it's always something of a higher level than me.

So I'm wondering...is it WORTH spending 10 gold on a plus 9 weapon? I have 11 Gold right now...and I've got my eyes set on a plus 9 sword and shield being sold in Elderine every night...so my question is...worth it? Or CAN I survive with stock armor/weapons?

the simple answer is the same as anything.. the game is completely playable and doable without.. im lvl 67 now and i havent used a + weapon yet. you can play just fine without, ofcourse its gonna make you better if you have one.. but you dont NEED one. i think the same applies for spark cash, you dont NEED it. but things become easier if you have it.

+9s just make things a bit easier. The sword +9 will deal more damage, thus you will kill faster. The shield +9 will add to your defense, thus you will die less often. So, yes you can get by perfectly well without one, you might just have to work for it a bit more.

eh if u can live with just 1g in ure inven I say go for it if not live another day

I didn't use a +9 weapon til lvl 50, never thought it was necessary. But once you get one you'll realise that they are WELL worth the cost. I've made sure to get a +9 weapon for every level since then, they help immensly.
