I'm curious, do we get a quest that gives level 38/40/44/46/48 armor, similar to the quests for level 30/34/36 armor, or are we left to buy from npc or wait for drops or from players? Anyone have a clue?

From experience, for level 40+ gear, I had to purchase all mine. I saw no quests (at least working anyways) that granted professional gear.

That's correct. I'm at 40 now, and just finished my quests last night. :)
