If all they were doing right now was motion captures they should atleast keep the servers up so we can play. When they actually are going to start coding they could close down the servers.

The process of merging the dances recorded from Motion Capture into the game isn't a quick one.
Not to mention they are working with the developer's to add in a new interface, new items, dances, songs, etc. All of this new content as well as fixing any bugs or issues they have found will lengthen the gap between Closed Beta and Open Beta.
I will check and see if they plan on posting any new updates any time soon, but I can't guarantee anything. If they have nothing to update on at this time, then there is nothing they can share. Of course there are also NDA's and such that can prevent them from disclosing certain information to you guys, which would also prevent some updates.
