Flame on, this is my own way of protesting a pointless reward that I earned for a pointless event.

If outspark needed more log in time for their investors, they could have rewarded the winners that pay outspark's bills a little better.

The stats on the pet are not what I was worried about; it could have been a permanent clothing item or a title. A goofy hat or even a grilled cheese sandwich would have been better than that pet. I have a permanent pet that I bought with SC and I am proud to wear that pet.

If an actor can take "insults" and critic's calling them a horrid actor, and can continue to make movies.... then people who come up with event ideas and rewards FOR A PAY CHECK can also.

People make mistakes, and "good" and "bad" is relative. (that means: and differ per person) OS has had some great events and some not so great. A lot of people see this one as the latter. AND, some people, as yourself, see it as a great event. It's the beautiful thing about being human - you make your own reality.

Stop judging people on how they feel about something, OS staff get paid to do what they do and can handle people not liking it; if they cant, time to get a new job.

As for not working on it, she feels she did... alot of people do, I know many people who logged as much time as possible and vending is also working ;) if not- well fiesta needs an auction house then.

Electricity bill is a know factor.
If you use that as an excuse to say you did pay then your saying you pay to be on your computer. That's your own choice. You didn't pay outspark for this event. There for it was free.

I think the main reason people are angry is the fact that it takes the place of existing pets. The stats aren't great, that's for sure, but from players' reactions, it seems that a permanent buff (or anything that doesn't take SC slots used by other items) would have been better received.

Players also seem angry because the staff said the prize would be (along the lines of) "well worth it." It got people all hyped up, but it seems that many of them would say that it was a big letdown.

2) I didn't have to earn it? I stayed logged in for th 14-days straight minus a couple computer reboots and maintanence. I did as the event instructions stated; stayed logged in. So I did do something, I followed instructions.
Are you saying that everyone else who has done an event did not earn it either? Those people just did what the event instructions told them to do also.
How about the race to level 50 event; did those people not earn their reward? I mean afterall, they were just doing what one normally does when playing an mmo--LEVELED. I also did that during this event, I got several levels in fact.

Not to mention 500 people got it; that is not rare. For the server I play on that's roughly over 1/4 of the ACTIVE players on there. Also I know of more than one person who received the reward on two different accounts; not so rare is it?

Oh and by the way, yes, I am proud of myself. I participated in an event (that's right participated, I didn't just do "nothing" as you stated) received a terrible reward for it, and I threw it out.

i think not so good compared with the chocolates one at least all ppl could get 1 of 2 items collecting or doing others things but in this one only few a lot of them dont like pvp

Well I think it's bogus that something I worked on (regardless of what others are saying; it was free, I did nothing to earn it, etc) is something that turned out to be A LOT less than the hype (produced by the GM's). It feels like a let down; a pet that adds +3 to all stats when you can buy a CS pet with a lot more than that. I think it would have been better as a title (even if didn't add stats, more along the lines of bragging rights), a permanent buff (like the wedding buff), or even a permanent outfit that doesn't even have to add any stats. I really don't care about the stats to be perfectly honest. We end up getting a very intrusive pet that makes us have to take off the other pets we have (in my case it was my wedding pet that I paid REAL money for).

I started this thread to show my disappointment in the event reward and that I was actually willing to do more than just complain on the forums about it; I took screens of me discarding it. I would rather not even have it when it seems quite pointless and I have to take off something I have spent actual money on.

After logging in when maintanence ended, it was evident that no one was happy with the reward; you could see it in shout and regular chat.

Marriage pet is +2 per stat, so the coat of arms actually has better stats.

After seeing all these complaint threads about the COA I think they should take away every ones COA and make a new event warp 50 people at a time into a pvp kq setting the top 500 people score wise in each server get the COA this will make the people happy that want to do the pvp and make the people happy that don't wanna do it.

Also as a second thought I think people should stop complaining bout it the people that are saying their waisting mother natures resources all you had to get this thing was go about doing what you always do vend play the game and talk to your friends on it.

First of all, if you were going to leave this topic alone perhaps you shouldn't have even posted.

Secondly, I did this to voice my opinion, not to taunt other people who "put work into this". I was number 8 on the list for my server so I obviously put work into this event. I did not do this taunt anyone, I did not do this to spit in anyone's face like people are saying over and over and over again; I did this to voice my opinion -- that I was unhappy with the result and discarded it rather than just sit here and complain on the forum.

There will always be more events to join with different kinds of prizes. Some folks act as if this is the end all of all events and "all I got was this stupid t-shirt". Bottom line, no event will ever make 100% of the participants happy. That's what multiple events are for, to cater to different types of gamers. You have a choice...

NO this event was not to please the investors, it was to please the community with a free event where you had to do practically nothing but play the game as you would normally do to win a permanent item. That type of comment can be a bit disheartening to the staff who put their time in what they felt would be nice for the community (not me though cause I'm built like a tank). And of course we expect some sort of commitment from the users who want a prize. Do you have to like it? That's up to you. While there are a group of folks voicing their dislike on the forums, many others do enjoy it. Let's not ruin that experience for those folks.

This event is not about "my wallet is bigger than yours so give me what I deserve". This event is about giving the mass, whether be free or cash user, an opportunity at obtaining a badge of honor for your server and representation of the "elite" (in a lore sense). I guess we could be blamed though for not having enough story tie-ins to our events as we once used to. And it's possible that it's become the norm for players to expect straight to the point tell me what I'm getting attitudes.

If you (op) felt the need to delete your coa, that's completely fine. That's on you. But is it necessary to ruin the experience for others by openly showing your hatred towards the staff in front of the community? Notice we haven't closed the thread yet. Healthy discussion is good. Let's keep the comments healthy and not feel the need poke each other at the hips to prove a point.

Attack the staff? Not meant to attack the staff SKiNG, I said several times it is a matter of taste.

Some people like it some don't, that is understandable, what kat did was not complain, but protest.

There was alot of build up for this, alot of build up... and that lead people to believe it was something EPIC. When it turned out to be a pet, it upset people, they felt let down. Kat was showing that this isnt what she wanted, if it is for pvp as been disclosed its not for her and she wants nothing to do with it.
The reaction on Bijou was something else when everyone logged in and saw what it was. Alot of shouts about it.
1/4th of the active population of the game gets a reward and it turns out to be a pvp balancing tool its a let down. This is what kat was getting at, and it keeps getting turned around.

I see this CoA thing as something that has hurt fiesta for a moment, however it will carry on... it will keep going, hell it survived a roll back that EVERYONE swore they would quit over and most are still here.

I think you hit it on the head when you said maybe a bit of lore with the event would have helped. Or at least more of a notion of what it was and was for.
We never to mean to come off as "we spend money so we want this" kat was explaining that this item would be taking up space she pays for because she would never use it, and ipso facto never wishes she took part in the event to the extent she did.

Criticism isn't insults. but people calling people names is. which it seems has happened here and should stop (I am guilty of this also)
I have spoke with a lot of people that have destroyed the pet also, so it is common.

1 thing that is bothersome is the people who are GM worshipers and brown nose and "protect" outspark from people disagreeing with actions or events. That has been the real flame here, no one can disagree or voice negatively about the event award without these same people trying to tell you its wrong to feel this way... closed minds should come with closed mouths.

The design was fine. The color could be a lot better and it SHOULD have been smaller. People like cute things not big blocking things. So hopefully they can change its size in the next patch or something.

If outspark needed more log in time for their investors, they could have rewarded the winners that pay outspark's bills a little better.

I think that this event is similar to pumped up expectations directed toward (for example) incoming new single player game where devs say "This game will be really great".
And here is moment where mind of game users start to pump huge expectation baloon "this new game will be super, duper, hyper, marvelous thing" (trust me i saw many such opinions about incoming games) and when game is released and outcome is that game itself is great but don't match taking from the roof unfounded users expectations flame start.

Here in this particular event i see similar situation where general expectations widely exceeded event outcome and that's reason for all this fuss.
You known me that i am one of the last persons whitch could side whit staff BUT in this case i must side up whit Outspark.

First of all Any participant of this event was NOT FORCED in any ways to participate and you do this from your own will.

After reading some posts here i saw kids during opening Santa's gifts and when they saw in thier box instead of brand new PS 3 a Gameboy throw him on the wall (similar to discarding item) and cries "I WANTED PS 3 NOT THIS (insert unproper curse here) GAMEBOY!!!!!!":rolleyes:
This is just silly.

Partially i admit that item itself is little big BUT again, instead of throwing tantrums "i hate this "thing"" why not create feedback thread whit CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions about redesing this shield.
Nobody say that this item could stay as he looks now and since Sking is creator of that "pet" he have any avilable source to redone him (resizie, change some color schemes, redesing wings or even making aviable to place that shield on the other arm without necessity of regular pet replacing...) and place new upgraded version in next patch.
I am more as sure that Sking will very appreciate such feedbacks, but NO instead of doing such way all i saw were threads "CoA suck" type creating another rift between staff and community.

I have question to people who don't bother whit pvp in fiesta.
WHY you participate in this event when general purpose of this event was preparation for incoming another pvp features to fiesta?

The coat of arms pet is just the beginning...as its been already stated the obvious server vs server stuff, and I believe a GM hinted at something else very vaguely.

So basically, this event reward not only distinguishes yourself among the server and player base, but it could also be considered your part of an elite club who will have access to other exclusive things/events in the future.

In fact, even it was off and just plugged in it would still be using electricity, so either way it STILL isn't that much more, especially since it was just a 2 week period

2) Pretty much the same response as number 1. Anything, not matter what it is, that promotes playing this game, promotes wasting the earth's resources.

3) Ok, compared to the Olympic medal it isn't rare. But there are a hell of a lot more players on each server than 500, so yeah, it IS still rare.

Are you saying that everyone else who has done an event did not earn it either? Those people just did what the event instructions told them to do also.
How about the race to level 50 event; did those people not earn their reward? I mean afterall, they were just doing what one normally does when playing an mmo--LEVELED. I also did that during this event, I got several levels in fact.

Not to mention 500 people got it; that is not rare. For the server I play on that's roughly over 1/4 of the ACTIVE players on there. Also I know of more than one person who received the reward on two different accounts; not so rare is it?
1) Yes, but the difference is that most events have chests spawns with items that are alreadying circulating through the game in mass ammounts. This is an exclusive, rare, permanent, premium pet.

2) Logging in isn't hard. Especially since most people log in to play every day. So really, if you just didn't log off for that period of time you saved yourself the trouble of logging in and out every day. The people on Legel earned theirs in a sense, but my guess would be most payed Outspark a lot of money for an easy level up to 50. That plus the fact that everything for lowers levels has been made much easier kind of takes a lot of the work out of it. Now, if you read the statements as aimed only at the OP, you can clearly see that she's NOT, in fact, from the Legel server.

3)I haven't heard anything about it being available for purchase in the future. From what I've heard it allows the initial winners access to the PvP server before the rest of us, and the rest of us will be allowed in at a later date. Doesn't say it'll require a coat of arms to get in. Also, 500 players IS rare, there are many, MANY more than that on each server. Even IF 1/4 of the ACTIVE players on your server got it, that means 75% of active players DON'T have it. There are also less active players logging in every day, as well as new players joining every day.

I can admire the OP for being so bold to show her dissatisfaction with the CoA. I do find it tasteless for BOTH sides to get rude about it. It doesn't take calling names to get your points across. All it's proven to me is that things can't be debated civilly and that it's pointless to discuss things with a few people.

tainted_kat, you have the RIGHT and PRIVILEGE as an American citizen to show your Freedom of Speech. You don't deserve being called names or anything for expressing it. While I wouldn't do the same thing, that was what YOU chose, and I DO agree with that.

100% agree with this. I could care less if a whole server full of people toss their CoA's away. I'm sure tons of people destroyed them, but to come on the forums and just give a big F U to the hard work the GM's put into doing this for us, and not only them, but to the people who actually like it. For some of us it's a real mark of distinction and proof of hard work even if in reality it didn't require much effort.

Also to say it was a protest?! What exactly are you protesting? SKiNG and other GM's desire to make the game fun for us? Events with permanent items?

Like SKiNG said, you cannot please everyone...and every user does have the right to express their opinion on the subject. However, that opinion should be addressed in a civil and respectful tone. Calling your fellow users ignorant, childish, morons, 'no-lifers', or any other such name is not acceptable.

Tainted- I realize that you are defending your wife's opinion, but you are crossing the line when it comes to addressing other posters.
