Will you be a mounted Ranger?

Pros: Mounts provide a plethora of bonus stats, like attack or def,etc, and two of the main stats POW, AGI, STA, or MEN,etc and they also increase your movement speed by 4. EDIT: In addition, it adds 15% to your current attack power!!!

Cons: Skill speed on the mount is slower. Everyone knows that the Ranger class is a skill speed demon ... and this advantage is taken away when the Ranger is mounted. Mounts are still pretty fast, though.

So then, do you think mounted Rangers are better or foot Rangers? How come? Even if its just "Mounts are cool" or "Mount clothes are fugly" >.> Promote discussion NAO!

And um...my opinion? Well, see... I made this poll so in the first place because I couldn't decide ... so, um ... *runs away*

I voted for yes because I'm a mounted archer...I have a lvl 3 atk Bernard and would rather hit as hard as I do and sacrifice the little bit of speed difference than hit faster with the lower attack. My build is such that I actually attack pretty fast for a mounted archer/ranger...faster than a lot of others. So yea...that's why I voted yes. D:

I just checked a mount in a shop. It says Attack Rate, but ... I can't test it out cause I don't have a pet of my own.

Personally, I have a scout alt and for the time being, a mount is my best option as it boosts my skill speed at my lvl and increases my attack power and Max MP. (It's a Black Cat) With all the attack power buffs available though, I think a ranger with 32 MEN or more(If they so desire >.>) would do better on foot since they would still have most of their attack buffs and would hit faster than they would on a mount. *Wishes mage class could have these kinds of discussions ); *

There was a thread where it was recommended that if you do decide to go with a mount, you should go full Pow. Personally, I wouldnt use a mount. The skill spamming is what makes SAR's different from other classes

Not really lol. Assassins are slightly behind you guys in skill speed, and that is with only 8 MEN. you guys have to waste a huge 32 stat points to get your speed =P


On a side note even though it says Attack Rate it always increases the Attack power, you know, the damage that you do. I have not once encountered a mount that increases Attack speed instead of Attack power.

lol nero, SARs don't always rely on men to attain their speed. A pure agi ranger is almost guaranteed to have the same or faster skill speed than one of those 32 men rest pow guys.

Anyways if mounted go pure pow, tha'ts the way to roll with the greatly reduced skill speed. Personally I'd rather go unmounted with that awsome Wind blowing through my hair as i kill off monsters with speedy attacks.

Yeah, my ranger spams faster off mount, but I prefer to be on mount if I'm duoing with a healer or just duoing in general. Otherwise I'd prefer to be unmounted soloing due to it being much more easier to not get hit.

i like to be off the mount even if i have an attack felix available

two reasons:
1. slow spamming speed makes the monsters flinch less... flinching less makes them look like they're coming at me faster.
2. for me it's faster to use aggro-repelling skills like stone edge and snake shot when im not on mount.. the faster i can release that skill, the faster im safe from aggro.

being on mount enables me to hit more but the cost is the higher chance the monster can hit me Q.Q Only time that i get on mount as ranger is when i run somewhere or if i try to see my highest damage in pvp lol

maybe i'm just too used to a mountless kiter.

Mount is great for early levels...maybe up until 80-90. After that, when you acquire all of your stuns, being on a mount really doesn't give an edge besides hitting harder. As Bob said, the fact that you hit higher, does not weigh out getting out of aggro situations, losing your spam speed, etc.

Much better to be able to spam those binds/stuns as fast as you can and save yourself, rather than hitting higher and keep getting aggro or hit from other mobs.

so my opinion about mounts/foot... faster spam/low dmg > slower spam/high dmg

Yeah I agree. I had a lvl 3 attack piggy but sold it, just because it wasn't useful other than one shotting people in pvp o_e lol

It makes grinding a lot slower, even if the attack is more. It's harder to move around, and like others have said, spam stone edge or snake when you get mobbed. I like off-mount a lot better.

hmmm few days ago i tried killing 30 min with mount and 30 wihtout it on my archer and with mount i got like 48% and mountless 50%, kinda the same, the 2% difference is prolly cause of repots time and such. Maybe when you get higher lvl the difference increases, i can test it when im higher *ish noobers*

Anyway, mountless for me, i love the cast speed wihtout mount plus is the only char i can use wihtout mount, which i miss ._. !! mountless! <3
