View Full Version : Question for GMs only

this question isn't for anyone who browses the forums, but for the GMs to answer...

why are there so many forums threads lately that insist on a GM response to things that have been answered 90 times? why do people insist that only a GM is allowed to answer questions, when just pming the question to you would clearly be the best way to ensure that happens :>

what's with the current trend of threads where discussion or player participation in the thread (providing our own answers) is discouraged to the point where people refuse to accept that black isn't white unless a GM actually says so?

oh, and what's your favourite colour?

To be honest, as much as I'd like to reply to all the questions that are asked on the forums, most people pretty much hit the nail before I get to it. Even 10 minutes after a thread is posted that insists that a GM replies there is usually at least 3 responses. In most cases the responses are also accurate enough that I don't need to hop in them as well.

I do have the community, who are incredibly mobile and very helpful to each other, to thank for that as well.

Why people need the GM to respond, I'm not sure. I suppose people like the reassurance of something "official".

But like the OP said, I don't mind replying to my PMs either so if you really need to get a hold of me, just shoot one over.

Oh... and my favorite color is black. I think. (sorry, going with the wardrobe choice answer)

Are you sure you are not mistaking an "active community" for a "tribe of trolls?"

If I see another reference to crudely inappropriate material you're taking a break from posting with follow-up information sent along to the CSR's. That's totally uncalled for, so please stop immeadiately.

Its easy to over look the normal or helpful response and target the negative. Unfortunately, those things tend to stand out in our memory better.

From a players perspective, and that of a CL...I've seen a lot of things on this forum both good and bad. However, there are a lot of really knowledgeable and really helpful individuals who are involved in this community. I enjoy participating in the forums here because of people like that.

So, from what I see, I believe Straega was correct in his terminology.

I think it has to do with the "Unless a GM says it, its not true cause players don't know !@#$" metality.

But I've noticed it too. It's almost upsetting to see a thread with a title along the lines of "GMs only" because its like the member's of the community aren't good enough.

I do see both the good AND the bad. Yes, our forums aren't perfect, but kudos for the helpful few.

Nothing wrong with being positive and optimistic once in awhile. :D
