What does STD mean in PVP?

I notice some arenas have the words STD in them.
What does this mean?

It means Standard, every player in such pvp mode are all set to level 49 with all stats being 55. It is a mode that makes everyone "even" regardless what your current level is.

Other modes are ULT, which is Unlimited mode. Here everyone fights with their actual levels, so higher your current level the better. Only for fun fights imo.

There's level limited mode, which only players around your level can join, and the other is novice mode, which only for novice.

First of all, *NOT* necro-ing since this is still relatively fresh.
Just to add on to that, sometimes monsters drop accessories that you can equip and they give you elemental defense. These give you some protection against the according elements, even in STD battles. However, the ele stones that you can use to refine your weapons and armours wouldn't not make any difference in STDs.

Also, make sure that you wear ALL your clothes in pvp, they do make a difference. Some people like to show off their hair, but wearing a hat significantly increases your defense. I think wsp hats offer better defense than normal hats, or is it the case that higher leveled hats offer better defense? I am not quite sure on this point. Help?

Each piece of equipment gives the same amount of defense, no matter what the level. Accessories included except that they do not give defense but instead, elemental defense.

Really? Somehow wsp hats seem to offer more physical defense than the low level class hats...

Nope, they've always been the same, except this new Critical System makes it hard to tell. Before the Critical Attack System, the least amount of damage you could do in Novice (not including SC gear) using strong attack and a woody was 38 damage. It didn't matter if your gear was WSP or not. WSP items just look cool.
