I just downloaded Fiesta from the main website, finished in 15 minutes. So I go to install it, and I get this message:
The version comparison failed. The setup will now terminate.
How do I fix this? Thank you in advance.
I'm running on Windows Vista.

You can also contact the CSR's by clicking support, FAQ, submit a ticket. I suggest you also do that ^_^

Do you still have a copy of the Fiesta-0001.0280.0000.exe file on your computer, on your desktop?

The thread is old but remains on the first page and the issue is the same. What is the problem? Just because a thread is revived when a user has the same problem does not mean they should be ignored and treated like a child. I posted to help the situation and resolve the problem, your posting..for what reason?

I'm having the same problem as well. I can find absolutely no remaining Fiesta, Outspark, or x-trap files on my computer anywhere. I tried re-downloading it about 3 times. I cannot find any way to resolve the issue.

I use Windows Vista. There is currently no version of any file related to Fiesta in any way on my computer. At all.

I noticed however that in the "Add or Remove Programs" section, Fiesta is still listed. If I try and uninstall it, it says the program must first be installed to uninstall it.

Okay thank you. You have followed the basic steps listed at the url at the top of this thread to remove all Outspark files from your computer?
Also how do you connect to the internet? Wireless, Cable, Dsl etc.
From what I understand this problem has 2 basic causes.
Your download of the file is getting corrupted
Files or registry keys from A previous install are conflcting with the current setup.
Steps can be taken to troubleshoot both cases.

I have a wireless internet. There are absolutely no files from the previous install left on my computer that I can find, but I dont think the download is being corrupted because I've redownloaded 4 times now.

I have a wireless internet. There are absolutely no files from the previous install left on my computer that I can find, but I don’t think the download is being corrupted because I've redownloaded 4 times now.
Downloads can be corrupted from other running programs, especially firewalls or antivirus software. ( Running programs are listed in the windows task manager on the processes tab )
Downloads can also be corrupted from using a wireless internet connection even if the signal strength reads maximum.
We can take some steps to verify 100 % if your download is corrupt or if there is a problem during the installation.
The problem is that if you re-download the file and we determine it is corrupted you must download the file again with the changes listed below.
In my opinion it is better to follow the instructions below to further ensure your new download will not be corrupt and we can both eliminate causes for the problem as we go without having to repeat any steps. I realize it may be a bit of work but I am confident your problem will be resolved by carefully following the directions listed below.
What I recommend 2 critical steps to start with.
1. Directly connect to the router or modem for the download process to ensure you are not losing packets while downloading.
2. Restart the computer in selective startup mode during the download. This prevents other programs and services from running and potentially causing problems with the download and installation of Fiesta. Only Microsoft services and programs will be running at this time.
1. Click start
2. Click Run
3. Type msconfig
4. Press enter
5. Click the Services Tab
6. Click hide all microsoft services
7. Click Disable All
8. Click Apply
9. Click the startup tab
10. Click Disable All
11 Click ok in the bottom left hand corner
12. Click restart
Windows will now be running in this selective startup mode. Where no programs or services should be running, only basic ones that Windows to work properly.
While in this mode please re-download the installation file from the official Fiesta website and save it on your desktop but do not install it.
Please post again when you arrive at this step. I will respond within 5 minutes.

I've downloaded the Downloader from the website, do you want me to open that and download the installation as well before we continue?
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-01-2010, 05:40 PM
Okay we are in selective startup mode correct?
If in selective startup mode, yes please right click the downloader and click run as administrator And download the fiesta setup package.
srobinson90
03-01-2010, 05:40 PM
Yeah. There are absolutely no background programs running at all.
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-01-2010, 05:42 PM
Then yes please right click the downloader and click run as administrator And download the fiesta setup package.
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-01-2010, 05:43 PM
After the download is complete please do not attempt to run the setup. We will determine 100 % if the file is corrupt or not with a fast and simple test before trying to install.

Okay thank you not a problem. We can determine of the download is broken still or not.
You have the file Fiesta-0001.0280.0000.exe is that right?

03-01-2010, 06:16 PM
In order to verify the Fiesta-0001.0280.0000.exe file is NOT corrupted a special program is required.
It's called HashTab, Its 780 kb, it is free, it contains no registration, spyware, popups viruses etc. You can open Google and type Hashtab. It should be the first result.
Click the "Windows Download " button on the left hand side at the official website. Save the file to your desktop, and install the program. It can be removed momentarily.
After downloading and installing it, right-click on Fiesta-0001.0280.0000.exe.
Click the “File Hashes” tab.
Click Cancel, to stop the progress bar ( not the cancel button that closes the window )
Right-click in the white area and click “settings” from the menu.
Uncheck Crc32, Md5 and Sha-1, then checkmark Whirlpool, and click ok. The program is ready to use. You should see a progress bar, please let it finish calculating.
You will see output in the form of 128 characters containing numbers and letters when it is finished.
You will notice a box underneath the white area that reads" Hash comparison"
The correct Whirlpool hash for Fiesta-0001.0280.0000.exe is:
C211E67E9E088837FADC17456223C86CA389FB354AA8FE5795 1FBF1EB2D725FB1A464BCFE60D1B9AB961C4118FD5ACCB89A1 5A5CAA0F62892A8D3540F2AC0EBC
Please copy and paste my set of characters (Both lines with no extra spaces ) into the hash comparison box on your system. This will automatically compare the two.
If they are exactly the same, the program displays a green checkmark.
If they are different, A red “x” will be displayed indicating the file is corrupted.
If it calculates the same, You have just proven your download is NOT corrupted and the problem is NOT the setup file.
If you recieve a red X, This means that a problem occured during the download and the file is still corrupted.
Please tell me what your results are.
srobinson90
03-01-2010, 06:23 PM
Got a nice big red X. Guess that settles it then...something is corrupting the download somewhere along the line.

03-01-2010, 06:24 PM
Sure you copied and pasted it correctly?
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj

Are you connected directly to the modem? or to a router?
srobinson90
03-01-2010, 06:29 PM
I believe I'm connected to the router. However, I cannot change that - the internet is not mine, it's my Dad's, and I'm not allowed to change, alter, touch, go near, look at, think about, or dream about the modem/router/internet settings.

srobinson90
03-01-2010, 06:30 PM
However, my girlfriend who lives with me was able to download it on her laptop just fine, so I dont think thats the issue.
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-01-2010, 06:35 PM
Okay that makes it easier.
While your both conenected too the router, Have her create a shared folder with a copy of the fiesta setup file inside it, transfer the file to your computer over the nettwork and run the hash on that and see what happens.
If it fails , your probably looking at a network card issue or a network card driver issue. You said yourself her computer can do it fine so it is related to your system specifically, it wouldnt be a network or router problem.
The best method is to copy it onto a thumbdrive or external hard drive and transfer it from her machine to yours that way.
You can restart in normal mode now if you choose.
1. Click start
2. Click Run
3. Type msconfig
4. Press enter
5. click normal startup
6. click ok and click restart.

No that still didnt work. This is really starting to annoy the heck outa me.
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-01-2010, 06:43 PM
Transferring it over the network did not work? or copying from an external device did not work?
srobinson90
03-01-2010, 06:46 PM
I copied it onto an external device, hooked it into my computer, and tried launching it - same error.
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-01-2010, 06:47 PM
If you run the hash on it, the one on the external device is the hash the same as the one I posted?
srobinson90
03-01-2010, 06:50 PM
Hm...no it's not actually...which is very odd, I was watching her play it not long ago, so it should be working...
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-01-2010, 06:51 PM
What is the name of the file on the external hard drive? And what is the hash?
srobinson90
03-01-2010, 06:51 PM
The Hash program is giving me 3 different codes:
The CRC32 code: 80DFB019
The MD5 code: 93D283DB46442CCAD0722D62249B6D06
And the SHA-1 code: 6ACE338A50B63B075BADFD9CB7913BF7F868331F
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-01-2010, 06:53 PM
What is the name of the file you are working with?
Also, you need to right click inside the while area on that screen and click settings.
Then uncheck all of those and choose whirlpool and use the whirlpool hash instead of any of those.
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-01-2010, 06:54 PM
Use the one you know is good, Hers on the external device
The correct Whirlpool hash for Fiesta-0001.0280.0000.exe is:
C211E67E9E088837FADC17456223C86CA389FB354AA8FE5795 1FBF1EB2D725FB1A464BCFE60D1B9AB961C4118FD5ACCB89A1 5A5CAA0F62892A8D3540F2AC0EBC
srobinson90
03-01-2010, 06:57 PM
File name is Fiesta-0001.0280.0000
Checked the Whirlpool hash, codes match up, nice big green checkmark.
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-01-2010, 06:59 PM
Okay good. Now we know that the setup file is valid from your gf's computer. The one residing on your external drive.
When you copy it to your machine is the hash the same?
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-01-2010, 07:22 PM
I must go for about one hour. I will assume the hash is the same copying the file from the external device to your machine.
Reasons why it will not install can be related to registry problems, and less likely a broken install sheild wizard.
What you can try is creating a new user account which has admin rights. And copy the file from the external device to the desktop of that new profile and attempt the install.
I will return in one hour. Please keep me posted if you discover something new.

I apologize for my disapearance last night, a family issue came up that demanded my immediate attention.
I tried to run the installation with a user account that has full administration rights, and still nothing.
The problem seems to be with the installshield wizard itself. The bar gets to nearly full when the error pops up. I noticed in other threads people were having the exact same problem, none of them having found a solution.
Is there a way to install Fiesta without the Installshield Wizard interfering? I tried the manual installation from another thread and that yielded the same results as the regular installation.
wu9gs7vidsdllnrtrngj
03-02-2010, 11:24 AM
Not a problem.
So you tried to install the game under a pre-existing user account or you created a brand new one with admin rights?
The process should be to create a new user with admin rights, Log off, do not switch users, log off and log in under the new user account and copy the file from the external device to the desktop and attempt to install from there.
There may be a way to run a special command to install it in silent mode but I doubt that will resolve the problem. I do not know what command could be used to do that.
If you created a new user account and the problem still occurs, I my opinion the install sheild Wizard itself is broken or your registry is. However I am not any sort of qualified expert when it comes to the Install Sheild wizard or how it operates.
You can try restarting in selective startup mode, then delete the contents of the following folders:
C:\Users\( Your windows User name )\AppData\Local\Temp
C:\Windows\Prefetch
C:\Windows\Temp
Then attempt the installation
If that fails which it probably will, I can only suggest trying to run a registry repair program or attempting a system restore from before the problem occured, both potentially dangerous procedures but should not cause a problem*
There is nothing else I can recommend for you to try other than backing up any and all personal data, inserting the factory Cd wiping the machine of all your data back to the original purchase condition.
We know that whatever the actual problem or cause is, is specific to your machine and not related to the Outspark application in any way. If you resolve the problem somehow please post your solution.

Got some news about this problem "The version comparison has failed. the setup will now terminate."
I have it on my main system with both Sos and Fiesta. I do not know exactly what cause is as of yet. I actually ran the CC cleaner registry tool mentioned in another thread lol. Afterwards I was unable to launch the setup, that may be a coincidence.
This might also occur if a restart is not performed before or after an install or uninstall.
That leads me to believe the problem may be inside the registry somewhere, I cannot think of a way to prove that with what I know about the state of my system. I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled it , then updated it many different times trying many things for other users and monitoring what patches are released for the O+ launcher....
I am fairly confident the problem is not the Installsheild Wizard being broken at all, although I have no way to prove that other than to find a solution..
It will be a lot of work to even begin to figure this out...The installation of the O+ launcher and Pando alone adds 125 registry keys, adds 166 values, changes 71 values, adds 136 files inside 32 folders.
If I learn anything I will post it of course.

More news..I had both the Fiesta-0001.0280.0000.exe and Solstice_2010.0225.1355.exe file on my desktop. They were obtained from previous downloads. Doubleckicking on them displays that error message while pando media booster and the new O+ launcher are installed.
What I did was close Pando and verify no other outspark processes were running.
I used a program called Revo uninstaller to remove pando, Secret of the solstice and the O+ launcher.
Revo uninstaller scanned my computer in the advanced mode after the uninstallation to detect all of the left over registry keys, folders and files files from the default uninstallation. I removed the ones the program listed
-No reboot
I again attempted to launch both the Fiesta-0001.0280.0000.exe and Solstice_2010.0225.1355.exe file receiving the same error message.
I ran the registry repair program CCleaner. It found 2 left over registry keys for Pando Media Booster:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Pando Networks]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Pando Networks]
I deleted them both and restarted my computer.
After I restarted I attempted to launch Solstice_2010.0225.1355.exe
I can now successfully launch the Sos installer without error messages.
My circumstances are a bit unique. I suspect the problem still lies in the registry keys somewhere and I may not have exactly the same issue as other users described.
I performed too many steps at once to determine what it was exactly that resolved the issue for own own circumstances. : /
It may have been resolved with a reboot, after using Revo uninstaller. It may have also been resolved by deleting these two keys.
I did not remove Fiesta, but running the Fiesta-0001.0280.0000.exe a second time while the game is stil installed gives me the error message. I do not know if that is supposed to happen or not.

After a normal uninstall of Fiesta, the setup can begin once more. In my opinion, if a user uninstalls Fiesta or sos and receives the error message "The version comparison has failed. the setup will now terminate.".
This means either the installation file is corrupted or the previous uninstallation did not successfully complete and registry keys from the previous installation still exist. The setup will not continue until they are removed from the system.
After the software is uninstalled the system should be restarted.
If the problem occurs after a restart, I do believe keys have been left in the registry and that is the cause for the problem.
Running a registry repair program such as CC cleaner, then restarting the computer may resolve the problem.
All registry repair programs may have adverse effects, the same as any software program might cause undesired results. If you decide to run a registry cleaner or repair program you are doing so 100% at your own risk.
CC cleaner does backup registry files before you instruct the program to delete them. Remember to create a system restore point before installing the program.
In the mean time, I can try to figure out which keys the Fiesta installer checks for.

Warning: It is highly recommended to follow the steps listed in post number 60 in an attempt to resolve this problem.
Do not attempt to open your computer's registry or modify anything inside of it unless you know exactly what you are doing. Making any change to it can render your entire computer completely inoperable, unusable, unservicable and unfixable.
I am not kidding and I am not responsible if you damage your computer.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you attempt to launch the Fiesta setup, it does check for one specific registry key.
I did locate a registry key which, if deleted the install proceeds without the error message.
Although I can't quite be certain this particular key is the only cause for the problem, I can say that I deleted all registry keys for Fiesta one by one and attempted the install of the program after each time.
This particular key is the only key which allowed the program to install after deletion.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{E127B28D-1A2A-45C4-A74E-C817E0A74E3E}
I deleted this registry key and attempted to run the Fiesta setup.
The installation continued without any error message on my system.
I could post an executable file that deletes this single value ( *if it exists ) automatically for you, Heh but I don't think Outspark support would like that too much.
