This happens with just about EVERY map i go to. Usually only happens when i hit an enemy. When i walk around, sit, do anything else BUT attack an enemy, it's fine, no lag. Right when i hit an enemy, start using skills and pots, the lag starts. I use an attack skill, then stand there hitting with regular attacks and i'm forced to hit the potion button as well. Who knows? There might be massive hostile enemies nearby. By the time the lag stops i find myself using more pots then i have to, taking massive damage when i'm not suppose to, and one time, have a lucky ball stolen BECAUSE OF LAG. I saw it drop, I'm hitting the potion button as well to keepme alive and clicking on the item at the same time, yet the lag wouldn't stop and when it did, the ball was gone and wasn't picked up by me.
It ain't me, i have verizon FIOS. What could be so laggy that the server can't handle? Yes i know, massive players but every time i see a party around i never see them lag the same time i do.
And sometimes the server doesn't respond quickly enough and i don't use potions at all. I sometimes die because of lag and dieing at a high level ain't that fun. Using potions that heal only 30 hp? come on... you can do better than that. Atleast let players buy pots that can heal some more, like 50 hp, i just can't stand to hit the same button countless times just to heal 300 hp.

Oh yea, forgot to state one more thing. Losing exp is fine when you die, but 7%, that is outrageous. Especially when there is lag involved then you just died without a reason.
I, for one, think that it should be lowered. I dunno, down to 1%? That necklace does come in handy now. But 6%? Doesn't make much of a difference.
I'm thinking that at level 30ish, one should fight enemies that give around 0.4 to 0.6 exp per kill. That's atleast what i'm doing. With that being the case, by the time you reach level 40 to 60 you get even lower exp and the enemies get even tougher. So one death could actually mean anywhere from 10 to 30 mins of work. Not liking it are you not? I certainly don't.

I know you said you have a fast connection, but everything you described sounds like a local, client-based problem.
Alot of networks are using packet shapers now to determine the type of data going through. If you are on that kind of network, and it is set to give gaming data less priority, that could be the problem.
It can't be a problem with the servers if it only happens when you try to interact with something. What you described is exactly the kind of lag you see when there is a client-based connection issue.
Edit: As far as your second issue, that's just how the game is coded. Once the OB is out and we can get better potions alot of that problem will resolve itself.
If you KNOW you're having lag issues, you might want to train in safer areas until you fix the problem. Sure, it's slower gain, but you are at less risk to lose all that valuable EXP ;)
