Hey everyone!! I'm going to be playing this game soon. *in like 5 minutes or so...* And i was looking at the classes, monk looked the most interesting. So if anyone can tell me about this class, give me tips, and some builds. And also some experiences, or whatever information about the monk class you can!

Hello! I'm glad you joined Windslayer! Hope you have a great time here!
About the information you wanted, Monk is a nice class. The only character that can combo his Weak + Strong attack without delay! Monks do better damage than Warriors, Rouges, and Archers, but fall short of Mages and Priests. The goal of a monk in training is to gather all the enemies in the map, get them all in a corner, and spam Strong Attack.
Also use fire kick for damage + splash damage! In PvP, Monks are great for 1v1, if used well. I don't have a monk, but I have fought many, and seen many. Monks can branch off to 2 jobs. Counter and Shaolin. Counters can, obviously, counter moves from both melee and ranged foes. They can also do strong damage attack (Level 33 + 49) They also have a defense buff, so they are a very well rounded class. Shaolins are more about damage and speed :o They have 2 Very Good Strength skills (Level 30 and 41) And an Aoe (Level 49) and a buff (Level 33) They are better than Counters (IMO) until level 49. Then they are about even, and counter can even be better. (2nd job skills come at Level 30, 33, 37, 41, and 49)

Monks common builds are: 3 STR 1 SPR OR Full STR
Shaolins can be: Full STR OR 4 STR 1 SPR (at 2nd job, you get 1 extra ability point to spend!)
Counterscan be: Full STR, 4 STR 1 SPR, OR 3 STR 2 SPR

Monks first job skills are very nice too, including defense lowering, damage increasing buff, long ranged attack(not that long though)a strong attack, and others!

To become a monk, you need 5 Monkey Horns(From Monkey Sergeants/Lords) NOTE: YOU CANNOT GET THESE FROM MONKEY SOLDIERS!!!
And you need to kill 20 Monkey Soldiers. If a high level is in your party, his/her kills do not contribute to your quest. :( (Source StrategyWiki)
I do not know the class change quests for Shaolin for Counter, but it's probably somewhere here on the forums. Have fun! (And be active on the forums if you can XD)

Psst, don't give the newbie false info. Counters can't counter moves from Ranged attacks. Despite the name, Counters only have one skill for countering, the Lv.30 skill - Counterblow, it's a decent skill though. Also, the Lv.41 skill - Evasive Counterkick will let you become invincible during the kick. Shaolins are an easier class to play and level up faster than Counters until Lv.80.

Oh, I thought Evasive Counterkick could counter long ranged moves(attack them but not get attacked by their move)

Do i start a Shaolin/ or Counter build when i become a monk, or start right when i make the character??

Right when you start the character. Your stats don't get reset after the class change.

Windslayer has crappy bosses, the bosses are only slightly stronger than regular monsters.

Pretty easy to train to level 20, but it gets harder afterwards. Not THAT hard, if there are 2x exp events to help you once a while (Next one is on the last weekend of this month). Also, you can recover MP/HP while standing, so if you go into PvP or Playroom after grinding, you can get your MP/HP recovered! Besides that, nothing really! Have fun!

Now I'm having a problem with monkey horns, Ive killed like over 50 monkeys, and not a single horn yet! is that normal or something??

Ive found them like 10 mins after i posted the thingy. But now im a monk!!! and i killed the seargents for them. I thought i had to kill the Soldiers.

Well, you have picked a not-so-easy class! When you are still a monk you might get frustrated often because of your low attack (actually i think it's the lowest). Isn't it annoying that mages can kill you in four or even less hits?

Well, I think a lot of new monks should learn how to jump attack. I have seen too many bronze monks that simply press strong attack continuously on the ground and not hitting the opponent at all. Jump attack with enhanced focus would let you deal decent damage. For a monk, it is really important that you know WHEN to attack, don't just firekick in the middle of nowhere, fire kick in a crowd!

Actually, Rouges are the weakest :O Then Archer I think...but monk's strong attack actually does about 80+ Damage in STD PvP :o

With the easy to pull stun + poison combo I do not think that rogues have the lowest attack in the whole game ;o Poison does 200+? Not sure.
Oh yes how can I forget warrior? But as I have always said, don't pvp as a warrior unless you are really good. Hurry up and 2nd class change to pala / berks (preferably).
